So, i know I haven't even started on my SFA idea yet, but I had another thought that has stuck with me for some reason: A blind student. Does anyone know if this has been done before? Has anyone else considered it? I'm honestly not sure why I even thought of this - It seems like it might be quite a challenge to RP. Anyone have any thoughts?

I often use enforced blindness in RPs as a way to boost the victim's 'sensory levels'. I wonder how 'aware' a blind student (from birth?/young age?) would be.

Olivia is the only blind student I’m aware of, and she has a high-tech mask that lets her see when she’s wearing it.

I've seen blind students done before, but they're quite rare.

Interesting.

The idea I have is for a girl who has been blind since birth, perhaps born without optic nerves. As such her visual processing centers would likely be reassigned to other senses through neuroplasticity. So I imagine her as quite adept with her other senses.

Olivia seems like a very interesting character, too bad she doesn't seem to be active right now - that's what happens when you go missing for five years - you miss some good stuff.

Back on topic: I don't imagine giving my student anything to really mitigate her blindness; though I must confess to a temptation to go the Daredevil (TM Marvel) route and give her a limited sort of radar/sonar sense. Of course with the island's inhibitors, that wouldn't do much more than help her to avoid bumping into the furniture.
