Leriana smiled at Laele as the other student licked her lips at a particular dish Leriana didn't really recognise. Than again Leriana wasn't that much of an expert on food, she knew a couple of dishes that she liked, but growing up as the single most hated kid in an ophanage had ensured Leriana would eat whatever was put in front of her as quickly as possible. That speed was a habit she had slowly been losing over her past year at the much stricter Shokushu, but it still remained.

Leriana smile broadened when Laele confirmed she wanted the dish and stepped up to the right window in question, her sash clearly visible. Could I get some of that ... She pointed at the pot roast and a sausage in bread? Leriana asked with a smile. When the person behind the counter gave her what asked she replied Thank you. and turned to face Laele.

Offering the student the german pot roast Leriana looked around for a table. It's not really a problem, another perk of being a prefect is free food from the right window. Do you want to sit and eat or keep walking? Leriana gestured towards a currently empty table near the back of the cafeteria, letting Laele lead.

Smiled slightly hearing her position gave her free food, she felt just a little better about asking now. when asked where she wanted to eat she glanced back and forth around the cafeteria shaking her head softly at the idea of sitting here.
"It is a bit crowded right now for my taste I'm afraid. We can walk for now as long as it's not against any rules to carry food in the halls. would hate if you were to get in trouble at my account."

she spoke honestly as she stood there taking a wiff of the wafting steam from her food. she did like the idea of eating right now though, she was a patient woman and the tour came first. she wanted to know where everything was before she had to fend for herself getting lost and no doubt getting in trouble for tardiness
"Now earlier I remember you saying something about many of the students here being here because they got in trouble often back home. does that mean this is a sort of reform school then?"

When Laele stated that she didn't want to eat here because of the crowd Leriana nodded, understanding. She didn't feel that way herself, and never had. But she still understood that some people didn't like it. There had been other kids who had been bullied and their food stolen and so had taken to hiding once they had their meals. Leriana had adopted the 'if I finish first other's can't steal my food' approach. Besides, crowds usually meant teachers watching, and teachers watching was always good. That had developed thorugh primary, and high school and a year of things being very different hadn't changed that habit in the slightest.

As long as you aren't in class it's fine. Besides I'll show you the gym and other sports equipment next.

Leriana took the lead again, walking through the crowds of student's with a mix of practiced ease and those student's who noticed her trying to move out of her way because of the sash. When they had gotten out of the cafeteria she started walking towards the Gym, but stopped by a table in an area where you could still here the chatter from the cafeteria, but it was fairly quiet and the area was otherwise empty. This should be better. And yes. As I said most students are here because they have caused problem after problem and they had been rejected from every other uni. In fact there are even a few student's who are here because a judge ordered them to choose between Shokushu or Jail. Hmm ... that's probably why the uniform is so complete, and the restrictions so harsh ... mmm. This is good. Just before going 'mmm' Leriana had taken a bite from her sausage, and it was, as usual for food from the right window, very good. Leriana's first year had been spent exclusivly eating from the left window, the little money she had was put towards learning aids and other such things, not that Leriana had ever needed them.

"Oh I see, It does make a great deal of sense thinking of it like that... if there are people sentenced to college then I would probably have it set up the same way myself. "

she said simply as she took a seat at the relatively quiet table looking at her food and the fork resting in it. She smiled softly taking a bit and for a brief moment she had a pleasant smile on her face, a different one from that which had been seen thus far. it was far brighter than the one she had on her face more often than not.
"It is quite good, I suppose they have some way of allocating money to students? like a work study of some sort?"

she asked simply wondering if she could get into something like that should it exist. she would hate to have to eat from the free window if this was what the pay window had to offer. it would be depressing to go through four years without this.
"Though perhaps it would be better to talk a bit less about rules and order for a few moments, I have several days of leeway as you said. perhaps you could tell me about your experience her thus far? perhaps things or people to look out for."

There is some student jobs around the campus, although you would have to ask the specifc people involved to get more details. Things from helping with cleaning, cooking, and even a few assissant nurses. I think the N.I.C.E. labs also offer some one off jobs which generally pay well considering the time it takes to do them. Not sure about the details personally. Try having a look on the noticeboard in your dorm, any positions are usually on offer there. Leriana knew such oppurtunities existed, but had never taken one. It would have taken time away from her studies, or her attempts to ensure her teachers viewed her in a positive light. Leriana had seen the change in smile at the taste of the food, and suspected Laele would be quite keen to ensure she could continue to eat it. If she had to try the stuff available from the left window ... all the more so.

My experiances so far? Good. Very good in fact. The teachers are good, and discipline is strict enough that I havn't suffered the same bullying from other student's that I suffered throughout my life. There are always wild rumours and stories about apparant 'monsters' raping students, but those are little more than hazing tales. Told by troublemakers to try and scare new students. Leriana's voice was confident when she said this. She had asked a teacher, and a teacher had said so. So it must be the truth, a teacher just couldn't lie.

Laele listened simply to the words of the second year student hearing the experience and confidence in her voice and nodding. the mention of the hazing stories though, that made her cock her brow just a little. she opened her mouth the speak though nothing came out for a few moment she just silently finished her food. When she was satisfied with how much she had eaten she again looked to Leriana and finally she spoke again.
"Monster that rape students? who in the nine circles of hell came up with such a horrible ridiculous hazing story to tell poor new students? It would frighten the daylights out of a girl. I could imagine it making a girl paranoid for at least the first semester! But then, there's no saying they made it up... maybe a nightmare or a hallucination from something they tried in the forest i saw on the island on my way into the building... have those been checked for hallucinogenic gardens or anything of the sort? or perhaps there's a rotten egg in the bunch of teachers or even a student or two violating their peers? I certainly can't fathom a random girl thinking a story of a rapist was funny enough to use as a hazing prank, let alone monster rapist stories"

something she tended to do, rationalizing, hoping for goodness in the human condition somewhere even when it didn't seem like it existed.

Leriana had finished her sausage much faster than Laele finished her food, and simply sat patiently while she waited for the other student to finish eating and speak. When Laele did finally finish and tried to rationalise the reasons behind students telling the 'monster rape' tales Leriana simply shrugged. From what I understand it seems to be more ... well traditional than anything else. I have never heard of such things taking place, or anything like it. Both before I became a prefect and afterwards, and if something like that really happened you would think it would be impossible to hide for long. Leriana didn't mention that the more severe detentions at Shokushu generally involved sexual torment, sometimes bordering torture. That wasn't something she felt happy about discussing openly with a new student.

As for the forest, I'm sure it has been checked for anything dangerous. My guess behind those tales origin is a girl with a particularly vivid imagination and a sense for causing trouble made up the initial tale, and from that point it simply became common for the older students to try and frighten the younger student's with that nonsense. I could name a few students in the school at the moment who I could very easily see making such tales up, and delighting in others fearful reaction to them.

"I still find it difficult to believe someone would just make it up without provocation of some sort... people are generally good creatures without being provoked anyway... but, I won't argue, that's something for the debate club... which I'm sure this school has, most do anyway."

she said simply as she looked around the room again quietly before finally standing and stretching her legs slightly. she smiled softly before she would speak once again to the prefect escorting her.
"Whall we continue our Tour than Madam Prefect? It's been fantastic thus far but, I would hate for it to last beyond curfew. that would certainly be a poor choice of things to do my first day here I believe. don't you?

she was obivously a good person with a bit of experience at life obtained before actually cvoming to college, one who knew rules were there for the better and one whom prided herself on being polite.

It does indeed have a debate club, but I have never heard of them debating that particular topic. If you want I would be happy to point out where they meet so you can see what they make of it.

Leriana rose from her seat when Laele asked if she could continue the tour a warm smile on her face. It was always refreshing to meet student's who not only obeyed the rules but understood the need for them and respected them. That would be a bad thing, although technically as long as you are with a prefect, in this case me, the curfew does not apply. But it would still be better if this tour is concluded before curfew arrives. Would you like me to show you around the classrooms or the gym and other sports areas? Oh and please just call me Leri. You don't need to bother with official titles, I only force those who break the rules to address me like that.

"Of course, do hope it wasn't a bother Leri. as for where to go next... perhaps we should go to whichever is closest first, keep it going in a timely manner instead of organizing it by preferance. I need to see it all sooner or later right?"

Laele nodded more to herself than anything. she stretched once more and waited for her guide to take the lead. she was a little uncomfortable though talking without the formality to someone higher ranked than herself.

Leriana considered as Laele left the choice of where to go next up to her. She didn't spend long thinking however, and quickly decided to go through the classrooms first. After all the Gym and sports areas were fairly easy to navigate, and if the two ran out of time it would be far easier to have only a general idea of the location of the sports areas than it would to only have a general idea as to the location of the classrooms. How about we go around the classrooms first? Showing you them and how to navigate that particular area of shokushu will take longer than the sports area, and is far more useful.

Leriana led the way, setting an easy pace for Laele to follow. Hey you don't mind me asking what do you do in your spare time do you? She asked as the two students walked along, trying to keep the conversation going and remain as friendly as possible to this new student. After all, Leriana was the first real impression Laele would have of the school. She had to make it as positive an impression as she could.

"Sounds reasonable mi... Leri, sorry... Might take awhile to get used to that. Anyway yes. that sounds wonderful then."

she didn't seem to have any trouble keeping up as she let her eyes wander as they walked though never too far; just marking landmarks in her head for the most part. She seemed happy enough though that could have been content... or contempt... or well... she was hard to read by her expression it was faint. The next question brought a shrug from her.
"My hobbies you mean? well there is art... I enjoy cooking and dancing as well... acting too, hmm but those are just more art forms aren't they... I do like to read and occasionally swim or go for a run but those aren't so much something I enjoy doing as I do for my health. If I could, I'd skip them. Do enjoy archeology and paranormal studies too."

she decided to stop there, some of her interests might be considered odd by the prefect, specifically her studies into demons, the occult and their basis in scientific explination, always wanting to decypher the world and design around it.

Leriana listened politely as Laele spoke, occasionally interrupting her to point out a particular landmark and what seeing it meant, as well as brief discussions on how to use them to navigate around. When Laele mentioned she enjoyed paranormal studies Leriana's eyes suddenly changed from interested to keenly curious. Do you focus on any specific area of Paranormal studies? Personally I have always loved angels and demons, although I have to admit that it is mostly from an artists point of view. There is something ... appealing about using such images in my own artwork. Have you ever tried to draw a paranormal scene before?

she shrugged slightly at the notion of drawing the paranormal.
"No, I haven't I honestly don't study any particular area though i do find that I have a great deal of interest in the science of magic... Projecting your will on the universe to cause change using various means. the idea that words and gestures could be used in ways that some people could never hope to understand is quite the draw for me. I have to wonder how far willpower can truely take someone with potential in that sort of thing."

alright so she got a little bit off track in what was going on right now. paranormal studies was her sharpest interest.

"As for angels and demons... I'm not entirely sure what I think about religious figures and the paranormal, honestly i think there's a more reasonable explination, I'm really more of someone that tries to find out what is behind the paranormal rather than prove it just exists. most people will never accept it as real unless it can be explained through logic based means."

Leriana laughed at Laele's words, an amused smile on her lips. You seem to think that the majority of people are intelligent. People will believe whatever is popular to believe, and whatever they think is 'cool'. If that is facts, or a fictional story that was used to maintain an archaic system of government such as Feudalism, is irrelevant. But I do agree that there must of been something it was originally based on. But whether there is a scientific occurrence that just couldn't be explained and was exploited, or just a very charismatic and smart individual.
