Le sigh... Jenny McCabe trudged slowly in the general direction of her dorm room. Very little had happened over the past few days, even less if she discounted all the normal new girl/new college activities, but she was still totally wiped. Between the new classmates, new classes, new professors, new expectations... It was a lot to deal with and Jenny was beat, so she was glad for the fact that she could turn off her head and just auto-pilot her way back to her dorm from the library. As she walked, the only thing Jenny was even slightly aware of was the sound of the heels of her shoes tapping along with each and every step. Jen eventually reached her room and after fumbling with her bag and then her mess of keys, unlocked the door and pushed it open. Her room was a mess. Her clothes were strewn here, there and everywhere about her room; a pair of grey fleece pants draped over the end of her bed, a still damp towel crumpled on the floor by her closet, one of her spare skirts hanging on the inside knob of her door. As much stink as her mom would have given her because of the mess, in Jenny’s opinion it gave her dorm room a “homey” sort of feel. Whether her roommate felt the same way or not was a question Jenny hadn’t asked and didn’t plan on asking. Jenny stepped across the threshold into her room, her sanctuary, and dropped her backpack onto the floor with a thump. For a few silent seconds, Jen just soaked in the solitude, the silence, the separation from everything. Then, with a deep sigh, she crossed the room and threw herself onto her unmade bed. |
