Susan let out a barely audible sigh as she put her books into her bag. Her classes were over for the day, and she was at a loss for what to do now. Her reputation as a 'troublemaker' was an entire continent and part of an ocean behind her and the campus was less... well, less white than her high school had been, but she was still having trouble talking to people.

Still, it seemed to be a vast improvement over high school. Even the uniforms, with their ridiculously short skirts that made her afraid to bend over, did at least provide some attractive scenery. And she'd seen no sign of her biggest pet peeve: bullying. The students weren't that much older than high-schoolers, and she'd expect some problem students, but so far she'd seen no trace of it.

Dammit, spoke too soon, she thought as she rounded a corner. Three girls had backed a fourth into a corner and were taunting her mercilessly. Susan couldn't here what they were saying, but even from here she could see that the victim was on the verge of tears. And teachers never get involved unless things get to actual fighting. Oh, well. Looks like my 'troublemaker' label may be coming with me after all. Setting her bag aside, she started towards the conflict.

A young man then appears seemingly appearing out of nowhere. His green eyes stare at all four girls as you see him speak several words to the girls around them as the three girls who were bullying them suddenly were at a loss for words at the other girls eyes brightend up a bit. They looked like they were denying something and he spoke once again. By this time you were in ear shot range as you heard the last part of what I said.

"... then you shouldn't do that, it's a mar on yourselves. Beauty of the skin is meaningless without beauty of the spirit. So don't ugly yourself with such things, espeically in my eyes." I tell them as they turn silent for a moment and you hear the leader speak.
"Yes Mr. Sulivan... Come on girls." She said as they left the girl alone going on there way.
"Don't worry, and don't pay attention to what they said. Now hurry onto your meet. I know your in the science club. Go have fun with your friends." I tell her as she shyly nods and moves away blushing a bit.

Susan stood there speechlessly for a moment, surprised both at how effectively he'd handled the situation, and that he'd bothered at all. I guess that explains the lack of bullying. The teachers here do get involved before things get out of hand.

"Thanks. I was going to do something about it, but I couldn't have handled it quite so..." Quietly? Peacefully? Non-violently? "...Efficiently."

"Ha, thank you and please, you should first try and talk them into leaving the girl alone, then threaten if nessecary. Violence should be a last resort." I tell her as I look her over. Hmmm, very strong... very sexy I thought. I then hold out my hand.

"The name's Keemari and although I'm sure I just looked like it. I'm not a teacher here. Just a private tutor when I'm not busy with my real calling." I tell her with a smile.

"I know it should be a last resort, but my English wasn't very good when I first had to deal with that type, and old habits die hard." She smiled sheepishly. "I've managed to get as far as saying 'leave her alone' and glaring menacingly before starting to throw punches."

Something about the way he looked her over made her uneasy. I hope he's not checking me out. He seems nice enough, but I've lost other guys who seemed nice enough as friends when they found I wasn't interested in them that way. Still, she took his hand when he offered it.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Susan. And, um, your... real calling?"

I smile back at her. "I'm a botanist by profression, some might call me a prodigy, but I prefer studying and experimenting by myself here on this island. It's a perfect place for my research, but as you can probaly guess they wouldn't allow a guy just at the right age to stay here for research. The parents wouldn't like it, so I have to be with the school in the slightest bit." I tell her.

"I can imagine." At least, parents who didn't send their daughter here because they caught her making out with another girl... "I wouldn't have thought there was anything about the island or the school that made it that great for research, though."

"This school is top notch and thus has contracts with companies with various high tech supply departments so I can get supplies rather easy through the school. Also the sublte beachs, forests, and some hidden areas in the forest allow me to experiment with almost all facests of nature except for sub zero tempetures and such, but I can reproduce that in a small scale experiment." I tell her with a smile.

Of course. The school and the island aren't that noteworthy on their own, but the combination is rare or unique. Once he'd explained it, it was so obvious that she was annoyed with herself for not having realized it before.

"I see." There was a pause while she tried to think of something else to say. She liked him, based on what she knew of him so far, but conversation, especially with strangers, wasn't her strong point. Talk about yourself, a voice in the back of her mind said. Not having any better ideas, she did so. "I'm not quite sure what I'll be majoring in yet. Trying out a few areas before deciding."

"Well that's farily common for most students. What areas are you looking into?" I ask her with a smile.

"I've thought about phys. ed., but I'm not so sure I'm really cut out for any kind of teaching. There's a few computer-related areas, but mostly that's just because it's the sort of thing dad was pushing me to go into. Although..." She blushed slightly, and her voice dropped as if she were telling a secret, "...The video-game design course looks promising."

I smirk hearing that. "Oh, do you have Video Gaming compnay your looking forward to entering. Perhaps something Bungies doing for Halo or it's next incarnation, or maybe your looking for the next fighter in Dead or Alive, Tenken, or some other one, or maybe your more of a RPG girl hoping to hook up with squareenix and such. Or maybe you want to go with the core of the consule markets and go with Nintendo, Sony, or Micrsoft?" I ask her with a smile still on my face as I show an intreast as she seemed embarresed by this.

She relaxed visibly at his reply. He seems to know enough about the field that he probably doesn't look down on it as a waste of time. "There's no particular company I have in mind right now. Probably one of the Japanese companies, though, since I tend to like fighters, RPGs, puzzle games, and rhythm games like Guitar Hero, though there are some other oddities like Katamari and..." No, better not mention Dead or Alive Xtreme. Those tend to give the wrong impression to people who haven't played them. "...Um, things like that," she finished weakly.

"Well I do like the RPG's myself, and a few of the fighting games. Street Fighter is my favorite, but I guess my next Choice would be the Dead or Alive series. The graphics are always well done and the fighting's pretty outstanding on it. But my main problem with fighting gamens is that you can learn about them for a year and sometimes a button masher will defeat you. Most annoying." I tell her nodding my head at that.

Definitely not going to look down on the field. And I know what he means about Dead or Alive's graphics. "That's a bit of a difficulty in balancing the design. If the learning curve's too high, you'll lose the more casual players, and if it's too easy for the button-masher to beat an experienced player, you'll probably lose the more hardcore crowd. It's probably not an easy balance to maintain, especially with the way 3D fighters tend to be set up."

Likes video games, actively opposes bullying, seems interested in me... If he was a she, I'd think he was too good to be true.
