Post A Day at the Beach (Open Story)
Being the new girl was always rough, being the new girl again without remembering who you were was even worse! Also, the fact that she was supposed to be home but yet nobody seemed to recognize her made her very frustrated. That's when she decided to take a long walk on the beach. After drifting in thought for what felt like minutes hours seemed to go by. Getting a little tired of trudging through the sand she decided to stop near a small pile of rocks and continued to get lost in her thoughts as she began tossing them across the water.

Post Re: A Day at the Beach (Open Story)
The beach during this time of the day was usually quiet according to his observations. Most of the people in this human settlement would emerge on their 'weekends', days off. He supposed that, as an extant human colony, education would have been of extreme importance. After all, it was how things had gone with first contact, then with the Flux Storms cutting them off. In the scale of a mere 50 solar years, they had gone from the industrial age to becoming a fully-fledged Kardashev Type II civilization with help from the 'Ancients' - and pushing into interstellar space by the time the massive flux storms had finally ceased. Humans had proven themselves to be quite adaptable as well, learning how to survive - even thrive despite the fact this colony appeared to receive no telecommunications from the mythical planet of Terra-3, the 'home planet' of the humans.

He had been quite busy this past few months with sample analysis, running his own studies and writing a thesis on terrestrial cellular mitochondrial structure, reporting back to his superiors and resting whenever he could. Now was such a time. Instead of the funroms, he spent his time just below the waves, his body naturally shifting to match the color of the sea below to make sure he was invisible to anyone that could be lurking around. There was much to be done, but for now - he relaxed under the warm blue skies, his body being slowly swayed back and forth.

This is nice. he thought to himself.

That was when he spotted the girl - one he had never spotted before during his indepth studies of this particular colony. Perhaps a visitor from another area of the thus-far unmapped zones of this human settlement? Sensory palps and eyes followed her as she trudged along, clearly bored out of her mind, the poor thing.

That was when she stopped at a small pile of surf-cracked rocks from a nearby reef, and with some skill, began to skip the stones across the water. He shuddered as the first one zipped past his main body, and almost broke the masquerade as the second one grazed him in one of the more smaller flat-headed tentacles he was using to stay afloat.

Had she spotted him? No, as he slowly floated closer in a semicircular angle, she continued to skip those pebbles across the water, clearly bored and not aiming for him as he noiselessly approached her. The sun's rays shining off the surface of the water provided an additional layer of defense as he made his initial approach to take a closer look at his potential catch...
