Mariah had gotten permission to go for a hike through the forests around the school, looking forward to getting out and getting back to nature. Her bag full of what she needed - food, supplies, med kit, clothing etc, she headed out of the school and out into the forest.

Hiking for a couple miles, she finally settles down under some trees and pulled her bag to her, opening it and retrieving some nuts, fruit and berries from a bag, keeping her energy up. Leaning against the tree, she looks around, inhaling deeply, loving the smells of the forest. She sat there, not really moving, knowing she could rest for a little while before heading on her hike. Her feet were itching to move, but she was content for the moment, her hiking outfit form-fitting. She'd taken off her jacket, spreading it under her, sitting there.

Aegir had found himself basking in the tree branches over looking a popular hiking trail. His body had changed in coloration being a vibrant green to better match in with the surrounding leaves that had concealed him from view.

Half suspecting a multitude of victims to chose from he had been quite surprised that today their had been no one to choose from. His eyes scanned the terrain below, shielded from the harsh light of the sun from the canopy that the branches made, his eyes enjoying the dim lighting that had filtered in from the lofty branches. His superior vision doing wonders in this place.

His mind had sensed someone nearby, a victim? His telepathic abilities reached out to this sole mind, sensing no others within range of his abilities.

Not sure if she would come this way or not Aegir had implanted a suggestion within her cranium to come this way, to ensure that she would indeed come to him. Let her catch her breath for now, he would wait for her to draw near negating his slow movement and thus taking full advantage of what he had been good at.

Mariah finished off her small meal, saving the rest for later, and looked around. She wondered if she should continue or head back to the school, but she was suddenly curious as to what lay ahead. New terrain had always done that to her.

Packing up all her things, she hefted the bag over her shoulder, picked up her jacket, and started hiking again, her hiking boots carrying her easily.

She headed on for a while, sipping from her water bottle every now and then, her eyes taking in everything, and from time to time she stopped to inspect a plant or patch of earth, smiling.

Aegir could feel Mariah continue on her way. The pulse inside his head growing stronger as she neared and he sitting perched in the branches of the tree as he prepared for the moment to come wondering just how he had been going to approach this situation.

Ideas had sprung into his head while he schemed as to what plans that he would use. He formulated a back up plan encase his initial one had gone awry, being a cautious creature of course.

All he had to plan for was whether or not to make this a simple snatch and grab so to speak or something else entirely. He had calculated his advantages while he had mulled over the choices that had been laid out before him. One thing had been certain, he had to make up his mind soon since he could feel her presence closing in upon him.

Mariah kept moving, not even thinking that anything bad would happen. As far as she knew this was a special school with advanced opportunities for her. She hadn't even been at the school long enough to hear any rumours or any stories about demons and monsters and horrible scientists. It all seemed perfectly normal to her.

After walking a bit longer, she was starting to feel parched, so she sat down again, kicking off her shoes to rub her feet "Come on, Mariah. It hasn't been that long since your last hike" She murmurs to herself. Grinning, she pulled a large bottle of water to her from her bag and starts drinking, not too much, but enough to moisten her throat and tongue.

There. He could see her now as she rounded a bend in the trail, his white eyes looking down at her from his perch as she kicked off her shoes. He did not so much as hear her murmurs as he had picked up her words from her own thoughts before she had uttered them past her sweet lips.

He scanned her memories, finding nothing amiss. So use to getting the cast offs and hand me downs of other beasts Aegir didn't think he would ever find one that had been untouched by the crazy mechanisms of scientist and beasts like himself.

For a moment, a brief moment, he had thought to let her pass unmolested. Another part of him grew excited at this idea, a musky scent washing out of the flesh of his body as he emitted pheromones from his skin.

Sadly those pheromones would have no effect on her kind harken back to a time long ago when his species reproduced sexually and not asexually through budding.

As he drank that knowledge in as easily as she drank from her bottled water he body spilled off of the ground from the branches above, unconcerned a out taking any damage given his boneless nature and of course his accelerated healing.

Tentacles flailed as he had orientated himself hoping to latch upon her, hoping that he had surprised her enough to get his coils looped around her in some fashion.

She finished drinking her drink and put her bottle away, getting her things together, but just staying where she was. For some reason, she didn't think that staying out in the forest on such a day would be wise, since she didn't know what lurked in the trees and underbrush. Sighing, she leaned back against the tree, closing her eyes, just enjoying the breeze on her face, the sunlight speckling through the tree branches just right.

She must have started to drift off, for one moment she seemed alone, and the next she could feel something against her skin, cold, clammy, and she moved to get up, reaching for her bag in the same instant.

He had taken full advantage of her vulnerability as she settled against the tree, eyes closed, she had not hit the earlier parts of REM sleep since her mind didn't seem disjointed by dreams and the random thoughts that they often brought.

By the time she had sat up he had a firm hold upon her, tentacles just above her wrists with a pair upon her legs to hinder her movements since he himself hadn't been too fleet of foot. It at least gave him peace of mind by doing so.

Another tentacle tried to race towards her bag before her hand had gotten there as if to prevent her from using it's contents against him though he had been a hair too slow as she had reached it first.

Mariah felt the tentacles on her wrists and legs, and gasped, her hand having shot out to her bag. She pulled it towards her, trying to find something in it to fight off whatever had hold of her. She found her hiking tools, and, if she had time, would grab one, dropping the bag to attack the things that were holding her in place.

He had registered the threat as her eyes fell upon the hiking tools in his bag and while a tentacle did coil about the bag to pull it away spilling it upon the ground though not before she had acquired what she had been after, not that he had been worried about the matter any way. He had several things in mind of a defensive origin that he could perform even in his sluggishness to get a weapon away from her.

But he had been to worried about isolating and restraining her limbs to worry about any sort of weapon that could be used against him. Perhaps he had been far to eager too though only time would know for certain.

She struggled as she reached for the hiking pick, thinking it would be the best thing - pointy, sharp. She saw the creature pulling away her bag, but she didn't care. She had what she needed.

Turning over slightly, trying to fight hard as she was restrained, she moved the pick in her hand, then moved to bring it down upon the thing holding her other wrist, intent on driving the pick into the tentacle. if she succeded, she would move on to the next one, on her leg, but if she didn't succeed on the first one, she would try again if able to.

The contents of her bag spilled out across the trail, though her pick came down upon his securing limb, piercing his rubbery flesh and emitting black blood from the vicious wound, well a wound that would have been vicious if he didn't heal so damn quick. He had virtually healed before her eyes, his wound already clotting as he instinctively pulled his tentacle away as one did when touching something hot.

Seeing her other thoughts in her mind he had released her, his tentacles unfurling from her limbs in order to protect them from harm. One tentacle did lash out towards her hand hoping to swat away the pick in her grasp as he did so.

Mariah saw the pick hit home, seeing the black blood, feeling a bit ill by the sight, but saw the wound heal almost immediately. She gaped, knowing that that was impossible, to heal so fast. She felt the other tentacles move away from her, and took the opportunity to get up to run, feeling the one tentacle slap her hand, losing her grip on the pick, seeing it land to the side, and she darted towards where it had landed, feeling, even though she'd just seen it heal miraculously, that continued attack would stop this creature from doing what it had to. She moved quickly towards the pick, reaching out to grab it.

And that had been when he injected himself into her mind knowing that she was quicker than he. Projecting an illusion there, he masked the pick from her making it invisible to her as he adjusted himself enough to get his tentacle at the pick, going for it since he knew that she would be capable of feeling it if she had stumbled upon it by touch alone.

I think not, he spoke into her mind telepathically, his eyes focused upon the pick, however.
