She looked down to see the area. It meant little to her. Even as he explained it to her . . . . The ground looked all the same in her eyes. Well, maybe your brother had visitors or he just had some guest he was entertaining. She couldn't find it in her to be paranoid. It was just too quiet. Surely they had lead ahead. There'd be no way for Rhodes or anyone to beat them ahead.

"I think its safe."

Maybe she was rushing. Maybe she didn't want to put too much thought towards it. But it couldn't be much worst than actually staying put in here for another second.

“Yeah, Eddie, you're being paranoid.” Edgar shot her a glare, shoot his head and ignored the name for now. He had been too tense to bother with it right now.

“I guess ...” He started on then as they were nearing the cottage he seemed to be reflecting on something. “I'm checking it out, you two hang tight.”

Still within sight of them he moves towards the cottage having a peak through the cottage as he nears. He holds up one finger, points to the sky and makes a circle with the finger,

“I think he wants us to go around back,” Jenna adds with a sigh.

Narrisa giggled as she heard the nickname, trying to cover the sound with her hand. But it was heard and she simply could only wave it off. She nodded to him in his choice, taking a relaxed stance as she put out a hip, kicking a leg out to wait patiently.

None of the hand signls made sense, only serving to put a sour smile on her face sheepishly. She was gratful for the words that came up from Jenna.

"Thanks, alright, will do." Slowly she made her way with the youth to the back of the house, making sure to keep up a large birth before drawing closer, still keeping her eyes on him so long as she could. She had to roll her eyes only once. "I swear," she hushed towards Jenna. "There doesn't seem to be anything near by. Is he always like this when coming up to a peaceful place?" she tried to joke with her, trying to keep down her own nerves from reacting to Edgar's own.

“Usually no,” Jenna answers. “But I don't think anyone comes out this way much. We knew about the woodsman being here though little else ...”

When the two get into position near the back of the home they dip out of sight to cover the back door after staying in sight as long as possible. They wait hearing Edgar knock … an arrow thunks into the wooden wall of the cottage near Narissa.

By all rights it should have killed her but the daylight screws with the orcs vision. He is not alone either as half a dozen, nay more, orcs appear in the forest letting out s howl as they charge forward with hulking axes, swords and spears.

She follows the lead of Jenna, keeping quiet. There was nothing she was picking up on . . .Then again, she hadn't really felt anythign since the night before with Edgar. She gave a small frown. From her memory, there would be little she wouldn't eb able to pick up on, using mana sight. Where had she learned that, anyways? She blinked, drawing blanks left and right until she gave an unsatisfied huff. Maybe there was still some things she wasn't remembering? She wondered if what she did last night had just worn out much of her mana. . . It was possible.

Pressing her back against the wall, she listened out for the knock that Edgar would make. The knock happened . . . The gasp leaving her lips far too late as she saw the shaft of the arrow suddenly in front of her face. A short scream left her as she fell back away from it as the war cry of the orcs made themselves known. "EDGAR! It's an ambush!" Her arm threw themselves out towards the orcs . . . Only for the her flames to flicker out weakly a few feet ahead, no where near able to handle them at a far distance. "Oh no."

Jenna froze in the face of that many Orcs, her supplies low, the scream sending Edgar into action as he ripped open the unlocked door before him as the quickest was to get back was going through the house. Though he expected more than one guy in the place several hidden foes though what greeted him was the back door being open and thee back of a large man behind visible.

He had an ax or chopping woods and glared at the creatures with a predatory glare. He grinned showing his teeth as he welcomed the onrush of Orcs moving forward.

“Get inside!” He commanded as he rushed forward at the Orcs, ax tightly held in his grip as he moved forward, soon Edgar was joining him sword in one hand, he stopped closer to the girls though in order to defend them for the time being.

Narrisa scurried as fast as she could, half crouched and trying not to get any more holes in her head from the arrows. The voice set her off edge, making her teeter into a clumsiness from the unprepared movement. But nonetheless she obeyed, dashing forward with more fervor when she heard.

Her mana was shortened, Jenna was low on supplies, and Edgar was just getting over a wound. Would they survive this new onslaught with so many foes? Narrisa's heart lurched at the realization of such narrow odds.

“That goes for you too boy!” The woodsman was middle aged and there were at least a dozen Orcs if not more. Sure enough, Orcs did not like the light and were at a severe disadvantage but enough of them could be a severe hindrance.

Edgar had waited for the girls to enter the house telling them to lock the doors. The woodsman seemed annoyed, the girls could see from the window as he constantly told Edgar to fall back but Edgar wouldn't.

Then a sword came across the stomach of the woodsman felling him. The odds shifted at once and the Orcs came at Edgar, full of bloody thirsty rage. The bandit fell back towards the cottage making a fighting retreat it seemed.

“He's in trouble!” But as soon as she let out that gasp the woodsman was back up, on a knee, obscured from vision and then …

Orc bodies had been launched violently into the air, a loud roar sounded and blood flew as claws carved through the assembled bodies here … there was a mammoth bear there at the rear of the ranks of the Orcs and it seemed that the tables were swiftly tilting back in their favor ...

"Edgar! Come back!" she screamed, unable to wrench herself forward into the mass of enemies. Even with all the Orcs there, she couldn't close the door, couldn't shut it and lock him out of the only seeable salvation here. The woodsman seemed to share her sentiement, calling him back where it was safer. Only then had he fallen himself. "NO!"

Her heart dropped, chest going numb at the sight as the blood sprayed the ground. So much that was out that should have been inside a human body. A sick revulsions began to lift into her throat. Had it not been for Jenna's words, she might have fainted before she could see the bear, bigger than any horse she had ever witnessed, stampedeing through the army of Orcs.

Narrisa squeaked as the mass of a man suddenly came through, with none of the wounds she swore she saw that he left the battlefield with. She blinked, then looked again at him. She rubbed her eyes, than looked again. Her eyes weren't playing tricks on her. But she knew she saw him felled!

"S-sir, are . . . Are you well?" Was it hidden under his clothes? DId the wound simply slip under his tunic and stop bleeding? No, not even a drop was spilled on from the underside. Narrisa's mind burnt out trying to figure how he was suddenly healed. "Are you a magician? A warlock? She tried not to watch, even as nude as he was, but the cloak was soon her saviour as he donned it. Hating orcs or not, there was many more words that Narrisa wanted to hear from him other than his distaste for such crude creatures.

“No magic little girl,” the woodsman's voice had been deep though he had returned without his ax. He would get it later, he had to clean up back there.

“You're a Lycanthrope!” Jenna was partially amazed, partially afraid as she hide behind Narissa but to no avail as the large man came forth and ruffled the top of her head.

“Indeed. Of the ursine variety. There are many subspecies of Lycans. The most common you probably all know about are Werewolves, men that can take the hybrid shapes of a creature not quite man or truly beast … the cursed Lycans can assume only the one form though a true Lycan has an animal shape as well, I am of the later variety.”

He looked to Narissa after casting a frown over Edgar. “I am fine. Orcs do not frequent these part though. And for an Orc to be out and about during the day is quite unusual. Now what brings you three out this way?”

“We thought you might be in trouble,” Edgar added.

The woodsman chuckled. “As you can see, I am fine. The Orcs are capable of only annoying me.”

Narrisa expelled a sigh of relief, shoulders relaxing from their tense position. "A Lycanthrope . . . And here we'd be the one's attacked by one earlier," she laughed sheepishly to herself before the man made to her. Even established as a friend, his tall bulk something she'd not wish to be on the annoyed side of.

He could call her "little girl" all he wanted with the way he single-handedly destroyed those beasts outside. Her veins gave a hollow ache. Still unready to cast a spell, she hoped this woodsman wouldn't make due the same with them as the Orcs. "Edgar, are you alright?"

So far there was no aggression on the part of the woodsman, at least not yet for he was eying the three in turn then stroked his chin. “That Lycan, the werewolf, is about two steps better than the filth out there,” he gestured with an arm to the wall or rather what was outside.

“The name's Bart,” the woodsman declares. “Sounds like you've had dealings with Lone Wolf … he does not have a pack any more and is much too old. I drove him out of these parts a few years back but never bothered to jeep tabs on him.”

He sits on a stool that creaks beneath his weight.

“As I said we were passing by when -”

Bart holds up a hand. “Orcs during the day are unusual. Earlier a bunch ambushed me while I was out hunting. From signs I say they split off of a main group and seemed to be searching for something … the others pressed on ahead.”

“Do you think the Orcs are trying to get ahead of us?” Jenna mentions but realizes she spoke aloud as Bart looks at her.

“What do you three know?”
