Some time during the next month, I'll be moving SHS to a new server along with all my other sites. This is very unlikely to mean the board gets killed and has to be rebuilt. I've successfully moved a smaller phpBB board to the new server already. But because of the size of this board it is planned that some of the trivia and outdated threads from OOC will be deleted before that happens.

The intention is to keep the core part of the board - the actual roleplays and the character listings intact. Trimming some of the fat increases the ease with which that can be accomplished, so we're looking for suggestions. Obvious ones would be things like restarting a few of the ongoing big threads like 'what are you listening to' and 'word association' which I can't believe anyone reads from the beginning ever.

Anyway, anything of yours that you'd like deleting, please post here or tell a mod.

Thanks!

You can get rid of the following in character threads for me, as they've been inactive for some time and I doubt they will ever be finished.

Seduction 1: Hidden In Plain Sight (Bella)

Seduction 4: Another lonely day..(Ashlie)

Encounter 2: A walk in the what?(13 aka Skwel)

I was wondering, will the address and the URLs stay the same?

Yes you shouldn't see any changes once the move is done. Not unless you monitor where your connection leads you, in which case you'd see it switch from USA to Canada.

Server change has been made now. If you can read this you are getting it from the new server.

350 meg of database as it turned out in the end!

Let me know any problems you come across please.

Only issue was my favorites link did not work, kept forwarding me to the SBE site and I could not figure out where the forums were from there (found the SBE forums only). Email notification links work at least so I was able to find this again XD.

Did you port the Shokushu Gallery as well? It seems to be a bit faster, don't know if it is related.

PM appears to work.
The gallery is part of the site, so also moved.
I'm aware that uploading to the gallery does not create thumbnail and mid-size images. That is in hand and will be fixed soon.

Yay!

I was going to post that bit, but you are way ahead of me. BTW, I love how the gallery is faster to navigate. Thanks!

Speed and reliability were major factors in making the move to a new server. I'm glad those things are perceptible!

I have noticed something...

Some posted links on the site are broken. For instance Pia's link to the gallery comes up 404 for me. And certain links in the Roleplay Listings page weren't linking to the proper pages.

I also had Kanoe's bookmark problem, but that may have been due to a cookies issue. It might be a good Idea to check your links and make sure they go where you want them too.
