Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
“It's Cindy. Cindy Adams,” she smiled an pushed her glasses up from the bridge of her nose. She extended a hand to the other girl shaking it though the touch of her hand felt cold as if her hand had been holding onto ice recently. She followed Juniper's gaze to the red head as she smiled back at her.

“Oh, you're not interupting she's off to class and I happened to catch her at the right time so I was holding her up a little anyway with my picture taking.”

Cindy took that in and nodded. “I think I'm about done here anyway. Everyone else is at class so I'll have to get there pictures later. May I? The other shots weren't that great, one from behind and the other you had you eyes closed,” she laughed a little though if granted permission she snapped away, then check to make sure her eyes weren't closed this time.

“If you have time I can show you what I meant with the article, knowing Latin only gets in the way and confuses you more but I can bring up the information on just about any computer, that is if Buchie didn't steer you off of it anyway … he's translations aren't the best and there are a lot of errors in his.”

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
"Huh, that's two Adams I've met today. I don't suppose you have any relatives at the school?" Juniper said, taking the extended hand and shaking it firmly. She was having this sneaking suspicion that Aegir was having a little fun at her expense. The camera similar to her own that was "lent from a friend", conveniently lacking all the components she hadn't been carrying with her when she'd handed hers over in the shed, and now another Adams girl. It wasn't all outside of the realm of coincidence, but she'd trained herself to notice patterns so she couldn't quite ignore the idea either.

"You can call me June." she said, noting the coldness of her hand. She wasn't quite ready to surrender her anonymity on the offhand chance that this was another plant by Rena, but shortening her name down to "June" could at least be construed as an effort to be friendly, should Cindy turn out to be friendly in the long run. In all honesty, she wasn't keen on using the name June again, she'd left it behind in Bristol. And if it lead to some smartass calling her Junebug . . . well . . . she'd moved on, but she wasn't completely over how things had gone down between her and Tom back home. She'd prefer not to have strangers poking at it.

"I've got some time, yeah, and I have to admit that my curiosity is piqued. I kind of suspected that Buchie might have mangled the subtext, it was interesting stuff, but I couldn't find a way to connect it back to Shokushu." she casually neglected to mention that she was skipping her class rather than actually having a gap in her schedule. Similarly, though Cindy made a point to mention that any computer would work, she didn't offer up the machine in her dorm.

"Heh, tell you what, you tell me what the pictures are for and I'll be happy to pose for one."
she said, smirking a bit. She didn't buy the yearbook story, and while the library story seemed more compelling she noticed that every picture the girl had taken so far had been of a student rather than something out in the wilderness as she'd first implied. There was only so far the excuse of "practice" could take one. Also, there was something about the orange flash and the angle of her first photograph of Juni that just made her suspicious.

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
“Relatives? I have about seven here … no one you'd know I would think … that girl Ms. Tanaka just now … well you can suppose that's one … I took some pictures of the others ...”

And she showed June the camera flicking through a few images and showing her some rather pretty girls. “This is another Ms. Tanaka no relation to the one I was speaking to just now, and she flicked through a few more pictures stopping on a few. “She is and this one … not this one though I just though she was delicious and this one too ...” Cindy showed off the pictures that had been stored in addition to the two of her she had taken earlier though neither had been very flattering.

She did not miss the fact that June didn't inviter her back to her room and thus left it up to her as to where they would go. She had the time after all but she smiled, blushing a little as the question had been asked about the truth behind the pictures.

Cindy blushed a little and seemed to hesitate about it as if conflicted about something or embarrassed.

“I was playing with a new toy and gathering some images of cute girls. There wer about ten I wanted but three are in class and well, one is here right now. I just figured I wanted to go around and take a few pictures while I had the chance.”

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
"Seven? That must be nice, even far away from home you still have something familiar to ground you. Everything here still feels strange and somewhat unreal to me still." she said with a bit of an off smile. Brainslugs, demonic Terminators, and left-handed pacts with ancient powers would have the tendency to do that to anyone, she supposed. Though she didn't want to comment upon it aloud, if the girl was still among the 90% it wasn't going to be Juni's loose lips that put her on the menu.

Juniper leaned over her shoulder to take a look at the pictures on the camera, arching an eyebrow slightly. She had to admit, she didn't recognize anyone in the shots, but the girl seemed to come from good stock. Though the specifics ranged a bit, she had to admit that each of the girls had her charm. A curious expression crossed her face as she thought back to the whispered comment and the deep blush she'd seen on Ms. Tanaka, the insinuations there were not particularly the type that she usually associated with relations. The notion was only reinforced when she started pointing out the girls she'd simply found too "delicious" to pass up a picture of. Well, it was an all-girl school, and she wasn't one to judge.

"Me? Cute? How long has it been since you got your prescription checked?" she poked with a bit of a chuckle, but her tone implied more that she was fishing for a compliment than disagreeing with her. She had taken the time to doll herself up properly, after all, "I don't mind a little photo shoot, is there some place in particular you'd like me? Half-sitting in a window, overlooking the roof top, something? You said you were going out to the wilderness, maybe there's some vista you're particularly fond of." she shrugged a bit, trying to stir the girl's imagination a bit, give her a taste of the fun she had with her own camera.

"Mmn . . . any computer, huh?" she mused, tapping her chin and looking at the ceiling, "It seems like kind of a waste to walk all the way back to the library, classes are in session, and the computer lab isn't much closer. So, your place, or mine?" she shrugged a bit. Practicality, it seemed, had won out over caution, though she had to admit she was curious as to the answer the blue-haired girl would give. The security of a familiar area, or the opportunity to learn more about the girl nosing her way into her business. For her part, Juniper was fine either way, she either kept her room number to herself for a while longer, or she had a room she knew was empty and free of nasty surprises.

“Seven, yup though I only got pictures of a few of them. The others … well we don't deal much with one another now. Of all of them the two Tanakas are probably the ones closest to me … oh, and this is my oldest ...” she flicked through the images until pulling up one with a girl with lavendar hair. “Such beautiful hair … it was blue like mine some time ago but she tends to dye it a lot.”

While Juni had ause to be suspicious Cindy either didn't notice or didn't know why but she laughed, shaking her head a little. “Nope! Don't have one.”

She giggled a little at that then gazed at her, her eyes sweeping over June and she smiled. “I like the whole stockings thing you got going too. I don't know the black goes well with the skirt I think and it's always been a thing of mine -”

Cindy colored a bit. “Gosh! I didn't mean anything by it! You're prbably thinking I'm sme sort of lesbian loking to get you some place secluded or what not with the way I was taking you photo earlier, asking for it now … but barring all that I know the perfect place, just outside the school in the forest their's a hiking trail that overloks a lake, it's perfect, I go out there sometime to read in solitude.”

Cindy thought about the question for a moment, she was probably not among the 10% if she were going out to the wilderness to read all the time, a move that might have been invitng trouble. “I don't think you'd want to go to my room, it's kinda far. How close is yours? If it's not to far we can go there if you like. Maybe I can get a photo of you there instead sitting on the bved looking out at the scenery with the light filtering in through the window … I think that would be a nice shot too.”

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
Juniper clucked her tongue a little bit as she looked over the picture of the lavendar haired eldest relative. She couldn't argue that it was a good shade for her, but Juniper herself had never much gone in for things like hair dye. She supposed it was a bit cliche` given her field of study, but she preferred her natural look. No matter what face she put on for the benefit of others, in a way, she was still herself. "I do hope she's careful, I'd hate for her to lose that volume from over-dying."

She tilted her head to one side as Cindy giggled and commented on her stockings. She smirked a bit as the other girl suddenly became flustered and self-conscious, reaching out and pressing a finger to her lips to interrupt her, "Hey, don't worry about it. You're doing me a favor, I'm not looking to judge." she clasped her hands behind her back and rocked on her heels, letting the smirk spread to a good-natured smile, "Besides, I'm usually on the other side of the camera. Getting to play the model sounds like a nice change of pace, and it'll give you a chance to try some things."

"Kind of far off? Aren't you staying in a dorm like the rest of us?" she said, tilting her head to the other side, she hadn't really been aware that there were other options available to the students, "Mmn, either way, my room is on this floor so I guess it's closer. We can knock out two birds with one stone, eh?"

“I hope so too, Nat dyes her hair at a whim,” Cindy said as she gazed at the picture. She soon took off her glasses, rubbed her blue eyes then stuck the spectacles back on.

Cindy seemed to be relieved that her words weren't taken the wrong way … maybe they were and June was just dismissing them off hand? That was an option as well. Cindy paused and considered the question possed to her.

“All my relatives have dorm rooms, I wasn't as fortunate. It's such a hike at the best of times but no bother.” If June had a room nearby then it was best using that one as it was easiest to get at. She walked with the other student a shor distance to the dorm and since the camera was in her hands she posed June for a couple of quick picturs … by the window sitting 0n the bed so the scenery in the windo could de seen, another sitting on the edge of the window sill with her head slightly tilted as if something off camera got her attention and another whie knealing on one of the beds here. When picture time was over Cindy showed them off, asked for some pointers and liked them better than the two candids that she did earlier afterwards she got directed to the computer and saht down. She asked June to make sure the door was locked just incase then began to pull up the student access.

User Nane … the curser blinked a few times and Cindy paused but was smiling as she stared at the logon.

:You ready for this?” Cindy asked and paused. Such poor typing posture but Cindy started S … O … L … she was taping away, SOLOMON.

Enter to bring up the password. “Do you want to take it from here or should I?”

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
"Well, I just meant that I wasn't aware there was even another option." Juniper said witha shrug, regarding Cindy's housing situation, "Are there some bungalows down by the beach, or a resort on the other side of the mountains or something?" In all honesty, Juniper had mostly just dismissed the other girl's concerns. It didn't make much difference to her which way the girl swung, and frankly Juni could handle herself even if her goal had been mostly to get her off somewhere alone. Really, she figured that the girl simply had an appreciation for the female form, the aesthetic sensibilities of it, rather than a more sexual attraction.

The brief photo shoot had mostly born that out. They were good poses, more artsy than risque, though Juniper would've been up for that as well. She'd really never been the subject of someone else's photography before. When Cindy asked for pointers, she offered up a few, mostly artistic things like how to frame the shot. Even when someone was the subject of the piece, sometimes making something else the focal point and letting them frame the shot with their actions could tell a more compelling story. For example, she pointed at the shot where you could see the window behind her, if she'd been looking out the window from the bed and the shot had been focused more on the window, it would've given the shot a sense of longing. Alternatively, if she'd used more defensive body language and the window was still the focus, it would instead give a sense of imprisonment. If she'd used the same body language and was herself the focal point of the shot, it would look more like she didn't want to get her picture taken (she punctuated that last bit with a chuckle). For the more technical aspects, she offered Cindy a spot on the bed just far enough that she couldn't rest her feet on the floor and threw her a pillow to hug in front of her, taking a series of quick shots with her camera set to different manual settings, mostly just to show the little things that the automatic setting wouldn't let her do.

"Hey, it's your rodeo. Wouldn't want to take it away just as things were getting good." she said as Cindy sat at the log-in screen. She actually pinched the bridge of her nose. She'd considered that possibility, of course, but when her search hadn't brought up anything about a log-in named "Solomon" she'd moved on to other possibilities, perhaps a bit too quickly. She didn't want to fess up, but she didn't want to take a crack at the password just because she was worried she'd over think it again and botch it up. Would the school really allow a password as simple as 284? Surely it had to at least be "pg284" or something, right?

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
Cindy shook her head about the housing situation. “Not exactly ...” that was all she would really say on that unless June pried into those details. Labs, a mental hospial, what? Those were some of the more unusual choices that she could draw from now that were far less likely earlier she had thought though Cindy was far more interested in learning about the camera then dredging up matters as far as where she dwelled or such arrangements.

She noted what June meant, considered a few things and showed that she understood by asking those sorts of question that she answered on her own but need affirmation in.

Cindy thought this over and noded a little.

2-8-4 she typed in for the password or rather more simply 284. You would have thought that security measures would have prevented such a password as being too easy to figure out but that seemed to be the beauty in it, that it was so simple that most softwares to hack into systems would be searching out more complex variables and nothing as so simple.

A moment later the files came up similar to the Rennie access. Experiments, Prey, Hunters though the screen background were yellow now rather than green.

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
Juniper noted her reluctance to discuss the matter and let it go for now. If you pressed an informant on something they were uncomfortable with, you risked them closing up and sharing nothing further. So, she contented herself to share her enthusiasm regarding the fine art of photography, to build up a little trust and goodwill. She could always conduct a little independent research later, after all, she still had her own inroads into the school's mainframe.

"I don't believe it." Juniper muttered, leaning forward to look at the screen as Cindy put in the three-digit password and passed through the log-in gate, "There's got to be a handshake protocol or something. Or this is someone's unauthorized backdoor." she said. She might not have guessed the code, but if she tried to force the code a three digit numeric code would've folded up instantaneously.

"But, Renford Solomon was supposed to have died back in 1951 . . . so who's log-in is this?" she rubbed her chin, leaving the other half of her question unspoken, And exactly how deep does his access go?

Cindy came to life with the explaination of the camera … it was new and thus it was keenly interesting. Though she smiled at the screen. Some sites on the web used simple codes but she might have suspected something far more elaborate than.

“It's his great, great grandson. He's not to high on the totem polem as far as the faculty goes and this is one of his back doors in for a few things that he did not have access too like a partial entry to the Shokushu file I had to bring up to enter all that in …”

She sighed a little and shook her head a lttle as he turned to June. “I have failed Juniper ...”

Juniper had been eyeballing the icon for the Shokushu folder closely, licking her lips slightly. Partial access was better than nothing, at least, though she hadn't known there was a Solomon among the faculty staff. It was about then that she heard Cindy use her full name and she stood upright, looking at the door, "Tch, great."

"Level with me, this failure of yours, should I start running?"
she asked, straight forward. Her suspicious that Cindy was another proxy for Aegir was ringing rather true at the moment. They could worry about breach of contract later, she needed to know if a team of security agents was bearing down on her.

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
Cindy had gotten the wrong idea, at first she must have assumed that Juniper meant running from her then the second thought was on security,

“No, you do not need to start running … I was just regretting that I failed to live up to my end of the bargain. While I stayed out of your head for the most part, least I could have just absorbed all your memories on the camera as it were I still had to touch on it to maintain this illusion … I even refrained from inserting pass words and user names into your mind with exception of the first that I mentioned specifically how I was going to give it. I also assumed you could only get so far with Rena's log in but I was unable to stop influencing you mind as it is rather difficult to walk about campus and not draw attention otherwise.

“Three pass words one day apart each completed with login name … of course SOLOMON expires at the same time as Rennie does but this one superseeds that one in having greater access though I just could get you two other codes one tomorrow and one the next day but I am afraid I could not live up to the original terms and thus did not live up to the original terms,” Cindy sighed and shook her head … “I was so looking forward to this too … ah well, the one that got away I suppose ...”

And she turned over the camera with a bit of a frown. “I tried to get you attention with the pictures earlier and hoped that you figured things out for yourself with the clues. To ensure that you were on the right track I sort of waited for you at the dorms though I could have just read your mind to see what sort of progress you were making I had already agreed to not touching upon your ming save for telepathically for the next three days so I have been of limited use in these regards.

“I would like those images I took today as a form of partial payment for the breach and those girls are more or less relations too to sate your curiosity …

They have nodes in them, essentially living creatures created from my own DNA … the girls in question are all part of my top ten some of which I afford special privelages too … and living at the beach is essentially true .”

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
"Jesus Christ" she let out a sigh, reaching out to check "Cindy's" shoulder hard, "Context! You scared me half to death, thinking that the Solomon log-in was compromised and that Security had the IP Address for my room." Turning her eyes back towards the screen, she reached around him and pulled up the partially accessed Shokushu directory.

"Relax. As I said, the spirit of my request was that you not change anything in my head. I'd have prefered seeing you lumber about the halls with just altering everyone else's perceptions, it would've tipped me off to this being a log-in and password rather than some strange girl pushing against the boundaries of what the 90% might know. But, like I said, I don't know how your telepathic stuff works, that kind of selective targeting might be far more tiring for all I know." she sighed a bit, getting off the hook would've been nice, but she was going to be on this rock for four years, it behooved her to play fair. At least so long as she benefited by it. "Also, when I set the time frame for when we were arranging payment, I meant mostly on my end. I'll admit that I figured this kind of thing would be easy for you, the kind of thing you could do from the comfort of your own home if you liked."

"I'm making good progress on my end. I've confirmed that the bitch can be hurt, I just need to figure out where they're storing what I need."
she didn't bother to hide her work around him, she figured that if he really wanted to know he'd just pull the details out of her head. He certainly hadn't had any particular compunctions about that in the equipment shed. She hit up the database search tool again, and typed in "Renna Duval, Holy Water, Infirmary Failsafe, NICE Storehouse" she paused a moment then added, "Graduation" she half expected not to reach it, but she wanted to know before she did.

Her attitude cooled considerably when he mentioned the nodes. Here she was trying to escape the grip of one brain-slug implanting monster, and it turned out that she'd enlisted the aid of another one in her quest for leverage. A lot of the background anger and indignation she'd been keeping bottled up for Rena shook loose and splashed on her impression of Aegir at that particular instant.

"Hmph. . .that's fine. Finish snapping shots of the girls who're still in class, I'll run you off copies when I get my camera back. Since you know where I sleep, I'll just leave them on the corner of my desk here." she grumped.

Post Re: Getting to the Bottom of Things (for Juniper)
“I didn't mean to alarm you like that … I am more disappointed at the breach.” When she reached out to Cindy she ineed realized that the sensory perceptions of the illusion did not go nearly as deep as they could have, deliberately pulling back a bit. She felt the course cloth of the tunic Aegir wore which was much thicker than the thin material of the school uniform feeling a little course to the touch and not as smooth either.

“I could target you in that manner but it takes considerable effort. It's easier for everyone to perceive the same thing rather than one person seeing something that no one else is aware. The best exsample I can think of are those tvs with the picture in a picture so you can watch two shows at once without changing the channel but you no doubt miss things on both shows even if you catch the gist. In a way it's far easier if everyone is on the same channel so to speak. Believe me, I had considered doing just that but my sphere of influences shrinks and I wouldn't be aware of the thoughts of Rena's security for instance until they were virtual atop me. I might pick up something that you'd find an interest in trading for. But hence the cloak and dagger stuff to try to capture your attention enough to draw you in. For the future all my illusions I use with you will have the last name Adams and A for a middle initial to not confuse them with real Adams … one second though an A. Adams or Abigail might be a common middle name. B. Adams no there is that singer … alright a Z. Adams, there shouldn't be anyone at the school that has such a middle initial.”

Aegir had been glad that she didn't see this as too much of a breeh though it would have been a real pity but a deal is a deal after all … As agreed he had not touched her mind, not really more so then using his telepathy and a slight alteration to the visual cortexts right now … he had no idea other then a sense of her mind's presence … he could not read her thoughts and had been closed off to it completely which reminded him of the monster Elizia. He was bared from even sensing her though. Octavia was a close second, and probably a better fit. He could feel her mind but not touch upon it though their was an empathic link that he had that he could guess her thoughts by what she projected. This time he had no guide though.

“Not quiet but you're right about it being easy for me. The minds I need to touch upon are outside of my sphere of influence from the grotto. A request though … at such a time payment is arranged I would like to see you in hose. Of course we did not make any agreement before hand so you can refrain without any worry, an oversight on my part that I had not considered until seeing you as such as you are now ...”

He looked at the work she pulled up with interest. It was apparent that he was barely touching her mind for he read and even had to scroll down on occasion.

“Oh she can be hurt but the island inhibitors -” he paused and considered for a moment the ramifications of what he nearly did … no he could not do so but if she figured it out and actually did it – he considered what that would be like. They'd probably take her to the labs though and exsponge her memory of it if she actually succeeded though it was so doubtful that she'd manage and thus it made him curios since it was never done before and new things interested him, at least for the most part.

“Look them up when you have the time and look real carefully at page 285 of that book I refered you to earlier. It migt actually work, at least once ...”

He pointed her in the right direction and it was up to her if she figured it out. It was doubtful that she would, not untils she got better clearance at least but it was still an intriguing prospect that he would most definitely have to peer into her mind to get access to in order to see how it all turned out even if the memory was almost certain to be taken from here.

He paused for a moment. It was a hint, an obscure one but one that might get her on the right track. He set a hand on her shoulder, which was rubbery despite the appearance of the illusion and patted it.

“Head to head the students are no match even for the weakest of the denizens on the island … nearly always that is ...”

He studied her, without the benefits of seeing into her mind it was tougher to read emotions most of the time but he was sensing something from her now … he was uncertain what it was, she was being cooperative but there was something off where he was tempted to take just a peak but didn't honoring his word.

“You are upset?”
