Zoya frowned thoughtfully, then shook her head.

"Not really. I mostly used it to chill drinks, or cool myself off if I got too hot. Oh! I almost gave this guy frostbite once, when he got a little grabby at the club. Left purple finger marks around his forearm. Erm...got this for doing it though," she indicated the scar on her cheek from the man's ring, from when he backhanded her.

"Why? Do you think there's more to it?" she looked at Kanoe quizzically, grinning slightly at the hinted at snow, but more interested in the line of questioning about her chill. She slowly unpacked while they spoke, all of her clothing similar to what she already had shown, nothing long sleeved or full length, though not scandalously short either, primarily in blacks, various shades of blue, and the odd white or light gray.

Frostbite though annoying was not much and she could only imagine how long it took the inexperienced woman to channel the chill long enough to do so. Not exactly useful but perhaps she could nudge this new student in a different direction. It would be a pity if such a gift was left for only chilling drinks at a local bar.

"Well," she began slowly, "You would not be the first student I have found on this island with some special ability."

She held out her hand and whispers a few soft words in no language a common mortal knows. A spark flares as a small flame sprouts from one of her fingers. It was always risky to reveal her magic to another but this woman makes frost appear over her body so it is not like she is the only strange one in the room. Kanoe lightly flicks her finger causing the flame to hop from one finger to the next before finally closing her hand, snuffing out the flame.

"Your ability seems like something you were born with," she continues, "Have you ever thought of how far you could go with that power?"

Zoya paused in her unpacking to look at the other girl curiously, expression puzzled at the strange language. Her eyes widened, though not in fear, at the sudden appearance of the spark, her expression shifting from shock to mild wonder.

"Whoa...I guess you're hot blooded then..." she mused, watching the flame jump from finger to finger, seeming almost disappointed as it was snuffed out. She turned her attention back to what Kanoe was saying, eyebrow rising at the question.

"Not really, no. I've always just seen it as a trick, or a quirk. Do you know something about it? I mean, is it the same as that flame you just made?"

"I am not sure," she replies, "I do not sense any mana being channeled but such small acts with ice might be below my ability to detect. But if you are satisfied with it being just a simple trick, then I will not press further. Just wished to show you are not alone. There are a few other special students here of varying ability."

She smiles faintly at the term hot blooded. Kanoe had her own reputation of being cold as ice despite not being able to channel water at all. Most students stayed away from her which works for her, she did not want any of them close to her anyway.

"I am not sure about hot blooded but I do know some fire spells," she says with a smirk, "Guess that makes me your worst enemy."

"Well, yeah, if I could do more with it, that'd be awesome. I just never gave it much thought is all. I mean, people gave me strange looks from just chilling drinks. Wait...there are more people here who can do special things? Wow. Guess I came to the right school after all," she rambled on a moment, tone faintly excited at the prospect of not being the only one with a strange ability. Her brow knit with confusion for a moment as Kanoe continued, head tilting to the side.

"Mana? Spells? So...what...I'm a witch? An ice witch? And you're a fire witch? Pft. You're doing a bad job as an enemy so far. I wouldn't even know we were opposites if you hadn't shown me," she grinned, the tone light, as she hadn't taken the enemy comment seriously, though she sounded perfectly accepting of the possibility of magic.

"Well I consider myself a witch but I am not sure about yourself," she says, "Witches, mages and so forth channel mana for their spells. I did not feel anything when you mist your body and fog that mirror but that could just be something natural with your body."

She shrugs slightly. There was no way to know with what she has seen so far. Kanoe was not sure if this school was the place to be for anyone. For ordinary people, there are no cars, drinks, drugs, or malls for their entertainment. Then there are the monsters that rape some students till they are nothing but quivering piles of flesh. But enough of that little rant.

"For some reason, it is harder to channel abilities on this island," she says softly, "So it would take some work to see what you can do with your little trick. But, it should help with hiding that mist your cold body emits in most cases."

"So...what else is there, other than a witch? I mean, is it possible to do stuff without using this...mana stuff? Even naturally?" she leaned forward, truly enthralled in the conversation. She didn't catch the change in Kanoe's expression as she had her internal rant, still completely unaware of the existence of monsters on the island.

"Oh. Work? What would I need to do, because I really don't like the idea of being a walking steam engine every time I go outside." Zoya hopped on the bed, shoving her clothes aside carelessly to sit cross-legged. She patted the bed and nodded to Kanoe, offering for her to sit, since this seemed to be a deep subject.

The witch considers Zoya for a few moments. This one did seem interested though in the more of lets have fun with magic sort of way. Not exactly a path of power but not a complete waste either. Perhaps this woman will learn a bit more and improve this power some even if the training is only casual. Not everyone can be as devoted as Claire and herself to their art.

"Well be aware that we are going at this blind," she began, "It is possible that my way and your way are completely different and I will not be much help."

She could not help but smile faintly as the woman pushes a pile of clothes away to clear a spot for them to sit. It was like when she first found her tome. The witch wanted to have her fun too with her magic before being consumed by a hunger for more. Kanoe takes a seat beside the woman, smoothing her long skirt so she can remain modest. Guess she can start with some of the basics.

"Well this will take a bit to get used to but lets see if I can help you see mana itself," she says softly, "This will seem a bit strange and may take a while for a beginner to achieve. I want you to close your eyes," she waits until the woman does so before continuing, "I want you to relax and breathe slowly. Focus on listening to the faint breeze in this room, coming from the vents. Mute out the noises in the room one by one until you hear only the cool air around your body," she pauses to let the woman try and accomplish this task, "With only that sound left, begin to silence that as well. Search for another sound that is hiding within that faint breeze. It will sound like a faint whistling, a whine of energy all around you. Nod your head when you begin to hear it."

Zoya nodded slowly, not knowing enough to dispute the dark haired woman. She did look excited to be learning, though as Kanoe thought, it was more of a childlike interest in learning a new game to play with an old toy.

"Alright. So, even with your help, I may not be able to do anything more, simply because what we do may be different. Gotcha."

She shifted about a bit to get comfortable, then did as Kanoe instructed, closing her eyes and trying to relax, listening to the faint whisper of the air in the ducts. Her breathing slowed as she tried to follow the softly spoken directions, her head turning slightly to orient on the sound. After a long while, she frowned and shook her head, turning toward the other woman with her eyes still closed.

"I can't hear any whistling...though I think someone has a windchime or something around here. Maybe in a room attached to the same ducts. I keep hearing this crystalline ringing sound...only it's really faint."

She smiles faintly at how eager this woman was to learn this. The witch ponders for a moment as Zoya attempts to fall into the trance necessary to see mana in all it's colorful glory. Wind chimes? It was possible but if it was coming from on place then it cannot be it.

"The sound will be faint and grow louder as you let yourself fall into a trance," she whispers softly to not disturb Zoya, "It will be all around you as if it were within the air, the breeze itself. It is ok if you do not get it the first time. You have never even heard of mana much less seen it before I mentioned it. When you think you have found the sound, focus on it blocking out all the other unnecessary sounds. If you achieve that, you may open your eyes."

If done correctly, the woman was in for a sight. The world will be filled with various threads of blues and violets in the air and browns and greys within various objects. The threads seem to flow in and out Zoya's and Kanoe's bodies. If the woman were to look over at Kanoe, the woman will see large bundles of red and black threads of various shades along with some of the blues and purples. The dark witch gently holds the woman's arm to steady Zoya just incase the sight was too dizzying to endure.

Zoya took a deep breath, trying again to find the sound Kanoe described. She tuned out the sound of the curtains rustling, the sound of the light humming faintly overhead, the quiet beating of her own heart. Yet still, the whistling noise she was seeking eluded her, hidden behind a crystalline chiming that seemed to fill her ears as she continued trying to focus past it. She frowned and tried harder, brow furrowing.

"I can't hear it, not past that damn chiming. It keeps getting louder the more I try to ignore it," she grumbled, the sound getting louder in her ears, seeming to come from her own head now. She squinched her eyes shut more tightly, trying to hear the sound of the air conditioner vent over the chime. The harder she tried to focus, the colder her skin felt under Kanoe's hand, the chill slowly becoming uncomfortable, then painful, frost beginning to form on the blue haired girl's arms, creeping up toward her shoulders gradually. Zoya seemed completely unaware of the drop in her temperature, concentrating fully on the exercise.

Kanoe's eyes widen as she pulls her hand away from the woman. Mist was flowing freely from Zoya now. Chimes? If it is getting louder, perhaps there is a different sort of focus for this one's abilities. Her eyes watch the growing frost on the student's arms and shoulders. Lets hope this woman is as cold blooded as she says.

"Focus on the chiming, Zoya," she says softly, "Tell me what you are feeling right now. Perhaps it is growing louder for a reason."

She kept her eyes on Zoya. If the ice seems to be causing harm, she will have to stop this and thaw the woman out. This did not seem out of control like Aurora's storm. It felt more like a steady overflow of chill coming from the woman. The witch was not sure what to think of this.

Zoya nodded slightly, the furrows in her brow crackling slightly as they smoothed out, small flakes of frost drifting to her lap. She relaxed and focused on the chiming, listened to it echoing in her head.

"I feel fine. A bit light headed, sort of, but fine. The chiming sounds like its coming from inside my head now," she spoke in a slightly dreamy voice, the frost creeping up her neck now, already having covered her torso and lower body, a small band of frost creeping outward from where she sat across the sheets. After another few moments of this, the frost crept over her face, the rising and falling of her breast the only sign she wasn't a statue of snow and ice now. The area around her started to get much colder as the frost finished covering her, Kanoe's breath misting in the air as she breathed nearby.

"It sounds like a breeze blowing across a group of icicles..."

Goosebumps form across her pale skin as the room grew colder. Zoya said she felt fine but it did not look that way. If it were not for the woman speaking, those lips would have sealed together. She never seen anything like this. The way this icy chill was leaking out, perhaps Aurora would be a better teacher. Inside a dorm room may have not been the best place for this experiment not that she had any way of knowing this would happen.

"Go ahead and open your eyes Zoya," she says softly, "Your powers are much stronger than I expected."

Though it was slow acting, she was not sure what would have happened if she allowed the woman to continue on in that trance. Kanoe was not interested in being frozen solid and it would be a poor start if everything in her room became frozen and wet with ice.

"Wha-?" Zoya said dazedly, and just like that, the building chill vanished, a sharp crackling noise filling the room as the frost and ice broke around her, drifting and melting from her body. She blinked her eyes open, a faint appearance of ice blue glow fading swiftly with every blink, until her eyes were amber again, a frown, then a grimace crossing her face as she looked down at her now damp clothes and bedding. She moved to look behind her and winced, hands rising to her face and rubbing at the bridge of her nose.

"Shit, now I've got a headache, like I ate ice cream too fast. Everything looks all weird now," she groused, looking around slowly, then staring curiously at Kanoe, noting the goosebumps. "What happened?"
