Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana nodded her head submissively. She knew that there would be risks involved. But an opportunity to utilize awesome powers like these was not something that came about every day. "Yes, I'll continue nonetheless." Her blue eyes gazed up at the sky, watching the clouds that seemed to drift like white cotton on a soft breeze. The sun light seemed to bathe her face and fill it with warmth. She looked back down at Clarice with a look of certainty on her face that would lead people to believing she had just come to a conclusion.
"I appreciate that you told me about the monsters, Clarice. I'm sure it's not an easy subject to talk about." Diana sighed softly and looked back up at the sky. "For any of us." Her gaze returned to Clarice again. "So, what will be my first lesson?"

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
"I'm glad you understand. Not many people are so encouraging to practice the art and most believe we draw our powers from demons. But mostly it's due to not understanding. You'll see dim-witted comments like that a lot."
She watches the woman as she looks up to the sky and back to her. Since the woman seemed so sure of herself, might as well start with something basic and simple. Something Kanoe was pretty good at from time to time. Unfolding her arms, she takes a few steps to Diana and gestures that this will be the first lesson.
"You may as well start with what we call 'Mana Sight'. In this state you can actually see mana channeling in and out of everything and anything. It helps you sight some monsters... but most of the time their too quick for you to break the trance. But it helps you learn that there is a variety of energy circling around us. Some even have different colors... like emotions."
She still had been resilient in letting her ability to see emotions turn up so much in her thoughts. It always came naturally, but it was a bother to not be surprised by the woman's resolve to learn. She saw it coming before she even spoke of her decision.
"Well, it's basic so you won't strain yourself too much. Want to give it a shot?"

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana already knew that she was going to get raped no matter what. It hardly made a difference if she was raped a few extra times a week, if it meant she could fight back some of the monsters. She knew of the many assumptions people made of the women that practiced magic. Witches, they called them. Blasphemers, altering the laws of physics that God had created to keep the world in check. It was just jealousy and fear of the unknown.
Diana nodded her head eagerly. She stood up off of the rock and stretched her limbs, getting herself comfortable standing. Who knew what kind of stance she'd have to take to cast the spell? She then dropped her arms to her sides, awaiting the brunette's instructions.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Alright... first... just relax yourself. Loosen up a bit," she explains, calmly breathing in and out to slow her breathing down some. She looks to see if Diana is following, a quirked brow wonders to watch her form for any signs of a slow breathing pattern. Turning her attention back to the task at hand, she demonstrates a simple act breathing in deeply.
"It's quite simple to see mana. All you have to do is just slow yourself. Take in your surroundings. You may feel a bit light-headed from the deep breathing, but it's normal. Now... slowly focus on more supernatural sounds around you. You may... start to hear the soft sound of traveling wind rushing through you. Stay focused and don't let yourself get caught up in the sound. Continue to push your senses until the sound becomes louder... are you following me alright?"

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana nodded her head and closed her eyes. She breathed in through her nose and then let the breath slowly out through her mouth. She repeated this process three times over the space of 40 seconds. These were the longest and deepest breaths the blonde had ever taken. She then made her breathing more steady, still consisting of deep breaths, but not so deep that they made her chest ache. A few moments into the excersize and she heard Clarice describe what it should feel like.
She continued to breathe in and out for almost 3 minutes, when the damn draft came back. The air wafted through her clothing again like it was not even there, but it did not cool her skin, it did not seem to touch her skin at all. The sound of it rushing along her ear drums was that of a passing gust, but it seemed different, as if accompanied by chimes or a soft echo of sorts. Diana opened her eyes, realizing that she had succeeded. Looking around herself, she saw the long strands of colored wind. It looked like someone had thrown dyed sand into the wind and it was all streaming together.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
"Do you see it?" she asks softly, watching the woman's eyes widen in utter shock to the sight before her. It was as she described in her mind. Like dyed sand to the wind, it flows through the trees, the rocks, and if Diana would look at her, she would see flooding mana running in and out of her body.
"You have mana flowing through you too. The color of the mana shows the level of power it possesses. As you can see, grey and green mana flowing through the rocks and nature itself is a more calm power that helps plants grow and rocks retain the minerals and their shape. It's even interesting to know that even if one were to suck the mana out of nature, it seems limitless and stays the same amount afterwards... is this making some sense to you?"

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana nodded her head, completely entranced by the strange new vision surrounding her. This mana was everywhere, had always been everywhere. She was glad that she could finally notice it. It took her breath away. She looked over at the puddle she had been at before and could notice a strange, aquamarine mist floating above its surface, as if the Mana inside the water flowed up with the evaporating water vapor. She then looked up at Clarice to see that the young sorceress was like a fountain of mana, the colored sand shooting like water from the crown of her head. Or maybe it was coming into the crown of her head? Diana had no idea, but the effect was magnificent nonetheless.
One day she would master this mana and aid in the overthrowing of the demented staff here. Then she realized something. Clarice had mentioned Violett. Diana had not seen Violett in weeks, the beautiful, petite woman living a hole in the blonde's heart. She'd talk to Clarice about it later. Diana continued to watch the mana. Then she gasped as it slowly started to fade away. She reached out with her hand as if to grab it, physically make it stay, but this made it dissappear all the more quickly. Then it was gone. Not even the curtain of mana surrounding Clarice was there any more.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
"Letting your mind wonder will break your concentration, Diana," she explains, seeing the woman reach out to touch the mana. She seemed distraught by the color of her emotions she viewed, as if she was losing her view of it which made her assume her mind went elsewhere while she was trying to see it. She smiles somewhat at the progress the woman was making. Now at least she knew what in the world she was channeling into spells.
"Human weren't exactly meant to manipulate such bountiful energy of nature but some are gifted with more then the amount needed for a healthy body, which is why I can channel and you can. We both have an over abundance of mana we can manipulate with simple words that stimulate the energy into doing our bidding. But you must be careful and know your limits quickly. Some spells are too powerful for you or I that it may backfire with bad side effects.
You should know that when you use magic it drains you somewhat each time. The more you drain the more you feel tired. Over exerting what mana you have can end in faint spells, immune system reduced causing you to get sick and worse if your mana level reaches zero.... I've had that happen to me three times... they seem tog et worse and worse the more you use it up I guess..." she trails off as she remembers those few times. They all felt horrible… being in such a sickly state made her shudder at the thought of ever falling to such a point of weakness again. On this island, that was very dangerous to be so vulnerable.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana nodded her head at Clarice, understanding what the woman was saying. It only made sense that if a person needed a certain amount of mana to keep their body healthy and had an overflow of mana, then if they used too much of that extra mana it would take away some of the mana used to keep the body healthy. It made logical sense. Diana then looked up to see Clarice stare off into space, seeming to reminisce about one thing or another. Diana took the initiative in the conversation.
"So if mana is everywhere and gives everything its form, color and shape, that means that it's energy. But how is that harnessed into spells? Do we channel it through our bodies, or just use the mana in our bodies and find some sort of conduit for it like our fingers and then it is naturally replenished or do we have a certain amount of mana and once we used it, it is gone forever?" Diana's question was long and ponderous. She basically said whatever came into her mind almost as fast as it did. She blushed afterwards, clearly nervous about sounding too forward or speaking too quickly for the woman to understand.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
"It's mostly by stimulating spells. The words we say when we're gifted with extra mana stimulate the energy in our bodies for better use. Like... a voice command to put it simply. We use the mana in our bodies and our hands are mostly the only conductors for the magic to escape as a spell. And no, it does replenish itself by itself. It just takes time as when you're tired. You need rest to feel better. It's just a supernatural order instead that's connected to your body."
She understood the woman's curiosity. She had learned the basic of how and where mana works from the beginning, so passing some of her knowledge to another was fine to her. Explaining it out loud made it have more sense then just thinking about it. She looks to the woman to see if she understands better.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana nodded her head for what seemed to be the umpteenth time. She understood what Clarice was saying yet again. So, she'd seen mana, knows where it comes from and how it's replenished. That leaves only one thing left. Actually channeling the mana. Diana looked at Clarice, an excited twinkle in her livid, blue eyes. "So, does that mean all that's left to learn is how to channel the mana?" She was a tad nervous about being so forward, but she could hardly contain her excitement! This was monumental to her.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
"... if you think you're up to it," she replies simply, watching with some amusement as the girl began to get a bit over-excited. Or maybe it was the right amount. A girl doesn't learn everyday that she has a special gift for possibly shooting fire or ice from her hands.
"We'll start with something basic to get you warmed up and used to it if you're ready."
She was happy to pass on what she knows when she was a beginner to her. The woman would at least have a more compassionate teacher then the teacher did with her sensei. Come to think of it... she hasn't seen Keemari for some time actually. Not that she missed him all that much, but she wondered if he was busy picking other girl's minds out.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana nodded her head eagerly when Clarice spoke. Then, she stood still and waited for her instructions to begin. How cool was this? The blond would be able to be like those mages from story books, shoot fireballs, fight off evil, summon dragons to do her bidding. She should of stopped there but her imagination just continued to wonder. And while it did this, she waited for Clarice to snap her out of her reverie and begin instructing her in the ways of magic.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
She watches the woman begin to daze off into her little fantasies. Witches had abilities, but there were certain rules to follow. She doubts Diana even knew what a summoning circle was, let alone summon a 'dragon' or other form of creature. Last time Kanoe summoned, it turned into a mess. But actually, she was suspicious of Spectre anyways. The way it acted was very odd for a monster that was summoned by her love.
Shaking her out of her own revere, she taps Diana's shoulder to bring her back to reality as well. At least the woman was eager, and not nervous like Violett was when she first approached the woman.
"Alright... how about we work on that water manipulation you seem to have a knack for? I may be able to teach you how to do it without being so concentrated and use your energy in one foul swoop. Come beside me here," she says, standing next to the puddle Diana and herself have demonstrated with. Might as well work with something she believes her fellow student knows a little of.

Re: The Spark~ (For Diana Varnia)
Diana listened intently to Clarice's words and followed her as she walked back over to the puddle. She slipped down onto her haunches and rested her hands on her bare thighs. She could see her reflection in the calm and blue water. Diana's bright, blue eyes stared back at her. Then Diana turned her head and saw Clarice's reflection beside her. The woman truly was beautiful. She looked so sophisticated and civil, she hardly seemed to be the stereotype of a Witch. "Okay, that sounds great. Not having to pass out every few spells..." Diana giggled at the thought and continued looking at the water.
