This had been good for the Yengal. It was highly probably that she would return, especially with more experience on this island. Possibly never, unless the exploration club did overnight camping trips. One thing that struck her was just how quiet it was; either there weren't any larger animals here, or Birch was considered an apex predator and scared them into keeping their presence hidden. Neither seemed all that likely to her, but she wasn't knowledgeable enough in zoology to be sure about it.

“How was that?”

She still didn't really have the words, although this time, not still coming down from a peak when he asked, she could at least manage to be more coherent. "That was… that was amazing." She realized that he was really in complete control right now – she could get away from him easily enough if she chose, but she didn't know the paths well enough to try to get back in the dark – but she didn't care.

Getting away from him was probably easy, at least when he did not have the plants to command. Now was ideal of course. He wasn't able to do much more than this in the water. Clumsy movements at best and some switching of direction though he never considered it true swimming.

More important in the water there were fewer plants to draw on. There were some at the river's edge and some beneath the water but neither had been very strong or had the reach … those that did might slow her down before she tore free but given that he was slow himself in the water he was not going to gain ground on her there.

But she did not show signs of flight, which probably increased her odds because at this point Birch had not expected it.

Her answer to his question had been noted. “I am glad that you enjoyed that.” Had he expected a more detailed answer then that? Probably not.

But it was as if he had been reading her mind though though it had been well after her thoughts on the ecology that he spoke up about it. “I am unsure why, perhaps it is the same team of scientists that created me but there are no animals here, not even insects.

“I find it odd that the plants thrive so well without insects assisting pollenization of the flowers and such though I lack the skills to do a scientific study on the matter save for some comparisons to the plants I read about, yes, the scientist taught me how to read your language.”

"Hmm… That is odd," she agreed about the lack of insects. "I suppose that it's possible they all just use the wind or self-pollenate, but both of those are rather inefficient. Besides, flowers aren't much use if there's nothing for them to attract." She grinned as a couple of improbable theories crossed her mind. "I'll assume that most of the plants here aren't capable of wandering about and screwing each other and, as neat as it would be, something like fairies magically escaping detection is even less likely." She let one hand trail in the water as she rested against him and continued to theorize about the situation. "I guess there must have been animals here at one time – if nothing else, most of the plants would've choked each other out without something to keep them in check – but something must've happened to wipe them out. I suppose the scientists or someone are doing something to help the plants that needed the insects for pollenation." She grinned again, slightly sheepishly. "Sorry, I'm kind of thinking out loud here; you probably know a lot of this already."

“There might be fairies,” he grinned. “I know there to be a Devil, a Demon and a Giant. There was an octopi-like creature.” He didn't know if there were faeries of not. For the most part he kept to himself as he tended his own gardens.

“But there is no need to apologize, I have wondered about such things myself but was unable to receive answers for the questions on my mind.

“There seems to be some organization to the layout of the plants on this island so there is probably some tinkering by those scientists or maybe even those that landscape but I have seen no one performing such. But it is a big island and I cannot be everywhere at once.”

He floated along until he maneuvers rather slowly to get back to the bank where they first entered the river at. He sported a grin as he considers something.

“There is a plant that you might be interested in seeing. It is dangerous though with my ability to control plants it will be docile while we are present though. At other times you may not have much of an opportunity to see it in safety. Do you wish to see it?”
