2:36 am. “Uugghh, why can’t I sleep”, I grumbled. I had studied and studied for my finals that would be taking place in 6-1/2 hours, but I was still worried. I got a chill in the slightly drafty hallway, there was more air conditioning out there then in my room. Logic told me that I was in the elevator alone. No one got on with me, and there was no one there when I got on, but I swear something or someone just touched my face. Nothing was there that my eyes could see, but I could hear, him? “Who are you?” I said in a calm but hurried voice, even though my heart was trying to pound its way out of my chest.

The elevator seemed to have slowed down or stopped … I should have gotten to the next floor by now, I thought, pressing 3 on the wall panel. “Oh my god, what the hell”, I said out loud, sounding more panicked now.

I turned my back to the doors and leaned against them as if by shear will I would become part of the doors and then be out of this box I was now trapped in. The lights were still flickering and it messed with my vision slightly, like a strobe light. I continued to scan the 4 corners, 3 walls, ceiling, floor, the space in between, looking for a trace of what a ghost might look like.

Silence. There is nothing there only the sound of her quickened breaths. For a few almost agonizing moments there is nothing but then at once a sudden movement from the right as a strong pair of hands seems to wrap around her wrists and pin them above her head and yet there is still nothing there until the flickering of the lights reveal the outline of something clearly not human linger in the space before her.

Be still. Save your strenght for what is to come, I'd hate for you to wear out quickly. There is no where to run, no where to hide so why fight me. It will be over so much quicker if to you give in

His voice is almost intoxicating in it's own right, whispering directly into her head like this is her own imagination come to life. He leans in towards her neck, allowing his long curved tongue to trail across the surface.

My heart and breathing stopped for the second it took for my hands to appear above my head. It happened so fast, so fluid, that I think if you didn’t know my hands weren’t already in the air, you wouldn’t have seen the transition. My quickened breathing resumed at my comprehension of his grip on me. It was so tight it should have hurt, but the burning against my skin didn’t begin until the onset of my struggle against his hands. I felt the cold of the elevator door on my back, but my front felt no more then the air around me. Once or twice, in the dimmest flickers of light, I saw pieces of the figure whose body almost pressed against mine, but didn’t. His face came so near mine, I could smell him. The scent was almost attainable, that of a pungent herb mixed with metal.

As if there was a way to add to my terror, some part of him traced my bare neck. This was no ghost holding me hostage, I concluded. The darkness itself seemed to have ensnared me, but the darkness doesn’t usually communicate. His voice was stuck in my head, vibrating through to my body. Its tone seemed to intensify the emotions I was already feeling, each word penetrating my senses.

The whole experience was overwhelming and yes, intoxicating at the same time. I closed my eyes as if to wish it away. “Please let me go”, I whispered through trembling lips to the emptiness before me.

The darkness shifts around him, clinging to his body and of course making him much more intimidating then if he merely appeared before her. No this is much more fun but when her defenses are broken, he will permit her to see his form.

Despite her struggles, he holds her firmly against the elevator door that was to be her escape. His grip eases when she ceases to struggle but tightens anytime she tries to break free again. As she asks him to let her go, it almost seems like he obeys.
