The only place remaining in the small vessel was the cockpit. The doors slid open as she leaned heavily on the door frame. In this case that message was an alert that the craft was being stolen, a message sent to the Directorate where the ship was being forced to head. A trap that could be bypassed before the hyper drives were engaged and a bit trickier to disengage once active though whoever set this up was probably no technical wiz.

Perhaps someone calculated that he would try to steal the ship and established a crude trap as a counter to the obvious move.
