The sun had only begun to set as Varghulf exited his new home, a simple but hidden cave located along the bluffs and peaks that dotted the western edge of the island. It was from here he first ventured after his escape from the so-called "NICE Labs", deciding it was as good as any other- dark, dank, and cool, an environment that reached out to the more primal aspects of his mind.

He didn't know from where he came, remembering only the times traveling amongst the other captives on the barge- a strange menagerie of beings from all across the galaxy- before winding up in the large holding cells of his "new home"... It had been deplorable, and he took great joy in cutting his former captives down as he fled, sadly only seeming to find another problem all together as he escaped. True, he was now free, but the land he had reached had proved less than rewarding once he found it to be an island... Escaped one pen only to land in another...

In the coming days he had explored, finding strange sights located all around him, the most notable the large school and it's populous, but more so, from his view high in the sky, he saw other strange creatures stirring, the likes of which he had never seem before, even in the exotic collections of the barge... He knew they were the real masters of this island, and if he was truly to understand things here, he would have to make contact, however his animal instincts beckoned otherwise... It was this decision which had brought him to this night... He exited his haven, his new home, and took flight, searching out any signs of non-human inhabitants he could find, hoping to figure out the secrets of his new island "home".

Edward exited his den in the forest, taking a break from the long hours of research that he had done as usual. This time was slightly longer, as he finally managed to isolate what seems to be the new enhancements that his collection plant had undergone after its last encounter.

It was stronger, tougher and could produce a lot more pods, and strange as it seems it could produce a new type of slime from its pods, that theoretically could induce temporary lactation on a female, at least for the duration of a few hours or so. He wasn't sure when he is able to test it out, but he hoped that it would be someone new.

Shrugging at the thought, he began to run through the forest , zig zagging through the clearing as he intended to go to a small remote part of the island, the cliffs to be exact to have some rest and relaxation.

Sometimes things just turn out unexpected, seems this specific evening was going to be one of those times, as Varghulf had believed it would take some arduous searching to find one of the strange island inhabitants not "occupied" with so many of the things he'd come to see scouting from the night skies.

He flew high and circled overhead, checking the new arrival to his cliffs... It seemed similar to the females around the island, but something about him wasn't right, the way he moved, the sense about him, his smell... No, though he couldn't be entirely sure why, Varghulf understood this creature in front of him to be, well, exactly that, a creature... One seemed as good as any other, and with that notion Varghulf flew lower, maintaining a safe altitude as he made his presence known to the being below him. He also knew better than to immediately tap into the creature's mind, so, lacking any other real means of communication, he merely let out a few low screeches, keeping the pitch from sounding threatening or angered.

Edward had just arrived at the cliffs and was about to find his usual spot, when his eyes spotted something moving above him, and then his ears picked up low screeches.
He looked up to try and find the source of the noise when he saw something strange. It was like seeing a mish mash of creatures,though he could identify the wings of a bat there.
He then grinned and said. "Hello there, friend. Why don't you come down here and have a chat with me? Sure beats flying alone up there,right?"

The one thing Varghulf had been thankful for is that the language of this world had been easy (enough) to understand, for some of the stranger ones he encountered back in the pens made communication impossible, if those creatures were even capable of it at all.

"Why don't you come down here and have a chat with me?"

Yes, that was something that was going to happen... No, Varghulf was far too weary for such pleasantries. He maintained his distance and sent forth a psychic outpouring, seeing if his specific method of communication was, in fact, compatible with the creature in front of hims:

"You hear, yes? You understand, yes?"

Despite being an intelligent species, Varghulf was still primitive in some ways... Verbal speech, or rather, the converting of psychic explanations into coherent words, was still new to him, a bit strange in general.

Edward suddenly felt a tingle on the back of his mind, and he could hear words being spoken as well. It was primitive, and was spoken in a slightly broken manner.
He grinned and said to the creature. "I sure do. Your way of speaking is unique, not that i haven't heard of mind speakers before."

He would let out an audible screech at his reply, followed by more of the psychic speech.

"Good good, you understand. You can tell about place... Island, creatures."

It hadn't exactly come out as a question? But the meaning was obvious.

With that Vargulf circled back, coming to rest on the grounds of the high cliff, standing a mere foot or so from the edge, keeping his ability to make a rapid escape should he find it necessary.

Edward blinked at the words that he just heard from the creature and then he looked at it as it perched itself near the edge of the cliff, its body language conveying its wariness.
He sighed and said. "No need to be tense friend. Im just here to relax, and i am no mood to do anything strenuous at all. But you say you want to know about the island and the creatures right? You sure you have the time? The story can get a little long you know."

He would lower his stance, emitting a growl as the creature in front of him gave him a command to "relax"

"You will not command...What place is this? Speak..."

The truth of this place, who was to know if he could even comprehend it? Or if such things even mattered to him, not that he had much choice- He was a born slave, and even ignoring that definitely not a creature capable of the complexities of space travel. No, it would seem that this place was, for better or worse, his new home.

Edward sighed as the creature growled, seeming misinterpreting his intentions. "You are not really a talker, are you pal? Oh well..."

He shrugged and said. "Well Shokushu is an island that exists somewhere in space. Exactly where it is located, I am not really sure as well. What I do know is there are portals leading to and from other worlds, which you can guess makes it a hub for creatures like us. You got everything so far?"

He waited until he received a confirmation from the creature before continuing. "Well as for creatures.... besides the normal animal life, there are us... creatures of all shapes and sizes that come from all parts of the galaxy for one thing. To prey of the girls that go to the school here in a sexual manner. That is the gist of what this place, and what are we here for, I guess."
