Post The Raver's Code
I'm curious how many Shokushu affiliates (eer'body) are Rave-Heads. Being one myself, I'll start the thread by dispelling a misconception. Rave-Heads are not crack-whores and dudes looking to get laid.

Ravers are people who lead normal lives under the Raver's Code. P.L.U.R.

If you know that acronym, I know that you are a real Raver.

Another misconception is the 'booty dance' or basically dry humping at every party ever. Dirty Dancing is not Rave exclusive, and most of us don't dance like that, partly because it's kinda gross to rub your ass in some stranger's gonch.

Lastly, Ravers don't live to party. Rave lives because the Rave-Heads do. Those coke snuffing prissy little girls are not Ravers. They think they are.

Anyways, enough outta me, what about you guys? (And Girls?)

I'm not a raver, I am afraid. I don't usually go out to dance, I guess I am too much a nerd, or maybe just too lazy  I do like electronic music though, although I guess my tastes are a bit old fashioned by today's standard.

No reason to say you're old fashioned, Pia. I'm very into Massive Attack, and they're from the early nineties. Musical taste never ages. :)

Anyways, given what I've seen of you on the boards, you at least write by most of the code.

Peace. love, unity, respect, isn't it? Sounds like good principles to me :) Had to google it, though
I like Massive Attack myself, actually. There was a lot of interesting new things going on in that period. Now I want to go through my old CDs again.

Methinks I just fell in love.

I personally think that the Raver's Code is good for living. A lot of people actually have a huge misconception about the code itself though...

Sure, you talk about peace, love and respect, but those things are only applied to people who are already in the raver subculture. I mean, how do you find these dance parties? Who's allowed to attend them? Are there fees to get in? When you're at the dance, when are you supposed to dance? When are you allowed to sit out and not dance? How do you learn the dance steps that people dance to? These are all questions that you must know the answers to before you can even consider attending one of these parties.

Actually, you're wrong. You don't need to know any of that, and personally, I don't know most of it. Parties are not exclusive, as anybody who can pay the inexpensive cover can get in. The cover ranges from five to fifteen dollars. When you dance is when you want. You sit when you get tired. You don't need to know the moves, because there are none. To find the parties is as easy as running a quick search on Facebook.

You don't need knowledge of anything to join the circle, as said circle doesn't exist.

I get why you would say all that though, Dendrite. Those are all very common misconceptions about rave.

I'm uncertain as to whether moshing is included in the raver subculture, but I've known of P.L.U.R for years (admittedly without knowing that it's associated with ravers). I adore the heart pumping, 140+ bmp, bass-thudding, electronic minimalist orgy of sound called techno. The only way I know how to dance is called, in my area, spaz-dancing. I combine DDR steps with whatever motions seem to fit the changes in the music, usually meaning that I engage in full body, dynamic swaying in between my steps, giving onlookers the impression that I'm drunk. But I'm only intoxicated by the music, drunk of the seething wave of bodies undulating in the flashing blackness :)
