Dark Waltz by Pan and Spartacus

It took time for Pan to finally understand the longing to conquer. Whether it was the seemingly feeble human women on the planet, or the monsters who dared challenge him. He often found himself stirring up trouble where there should have been none. In the Abyss, the hierarchy was not determined by creation, by right, or passed on from one leader to another. It was taken. Only the strong survived in the darkness, and so it had been the fate of the Demon Lord Asmodeus. Power was a motivation, but as time passed simply taking was not enough. He could never be sated with the pinnacle of power he had reached in the underdark. He needed more.

His black heart grew to desire the challenge or taking what wasn’t his own. He admired the strength some of the girl’s that he’d encountered. Their fight, only fueling his desire to break them into the mindless slaves to lust they were destined to become. Still, once the fight was over he grew bored.

The part of the demon machine that was still Pan resolved to never leave the planet permanently until he could be sure of his creator’s safety. He found that as his desire to conquer grew stronger, he knew that he was losing the fight to keep her safe, from him. He had needed a distraction, and so this was his solution. This was the entire reason he found himself soaring through the deafening stillness of space. He had no use for a vessel, as he did not need to breathe. His composition ethereal and mechanical served to withstand the arduous pressures of the galaxies. But what was his purpose? His purpose was to find a planet of darkness; a planet where the insidious light of a sun would never rise. This would be a place where he would truly be immortal; his powers would never fail him.

He had heard of such a place in his endless years in the comfort of the darkness of the abyss. He began to wonder why he had ever left, but the answer was always the same. Had it been under different circumstances, he may have enjoyed conquering the entirety of the planes, but banishment was not tolerable. He had opened a gate to this martial plane, to this section of the universe more specifically. He cast a longing glance back towards the ethereal glowing light of the archaic gate as it began to fade into the distance. A soft whisper muttered from beneath the gleaming metallic mask that covered his face closed the gate, snuffing its light from existence.

It seemed he was searching for an eternity before the lasting light of the particular galaxy’s sun began to dim behind him. Already he felt the power of the shade coursing through his veins, despite the blanket of burning stars that surrounded him. Stars were insignificant in size to affect his abilities unless they were in a defeating range. His emerald eyes wandered over several structures, most asteroids that he avoided with ease, beginning to lose faith of the planet’s existence. That was until he crested the top of a particularly obstructive piece of space rock. His gleaming talons dug into it’s hardened surface with ease as he mounted himself.

“Absolutely beautiful.” He whispered to himself as the bizarre spectacle of the planet came into view. It was massive, with several rings of ice rock circling the ominous sphere. His keen eyes caught a hint of deep azure in the darkness of the planet, so it had water, though most likely frozen. With his power he was certain he could afflict enough heat on the mountainous structure to melt them into beautiful oceans. He watched in wonderment as the dark planet sat seemingly untouched, suspended in statis…waiting for a master to claim it. Just beyond the planet he saw a blanched white structure, pulled into orbit around the glorious planet, a moon perhaps.

Several screens appeared in front of his vision, screens that only he could see. They seemed to detect a life form. The screens enlarged, magnifying the bleak image until it was in clear sight. It was a beautiful structure, a ship. After several more scans he determined there was one living organism on it, human. Pan felt a bitter taste come to his mouth, he would be damned if he allowed someone to conquer the planet. He crouched low, and with a powerful kick launching himself off of the asteroid, soaring through the skies towards the intruding ship.

The last attack had gone…as well as could have been expected, Nicole supposed, taking a deep sigh. She hated hunting from space and resolved to steal or hijack a larger ship when the next opportunity arose. It was impossible to rescue the slaves in her current outfit; she’d ended up having to settle for killing the ship’s meagre crew. The slaves had then been freed but they were on their own…she figured it was a week before someone recaptured or killed them. As much righteousness she found in her work it all too often struck her heart as a futile effort. Most, if not all, of the slaves she freed ended up being recaptured, and another street criminal or sleazy businessman was ready to step up to be the new slave master. A second sigh pressed past her lips as her eyes travelled up from the console out towards the depths of space. It was hauntingly beautiful, when she really took the time to appreciate it. Even from this dark planet everything seemed so peaceful. A cynic would have said it only masked the true horrors it contained and if she wasn’t feeling so depressed than she might have agreed. Nicole had seen too many of this universes horrors first hand; and she had shed many tears at their expense as well. Still…what was the quote? You may have cried over your lack of power, but once you have the power, you become the one who makes others cry. Something like that, she thought, wondering silently if that was true here. Did the creatures she killed shed tears? Did they have families and friends who lamented their loss? Sometimes she hated when this philosophical side seized her mind, it often drove her to near self-destructive depression. Her mind had wandered for so long that she took no notice of the approaching object.

Pan hadn’t taken the time to run calculations as to the ship’s actual size. As he drew near he noticed the vessel was growing in size, but not to the extent he had believed from his earlier sighting. The armor surrounding his body dissipated around his hands and feet when he was less than a yard away from the moderate ship. He spread his arms out to the sides significantly slowing his hurried advance towards the ship.

He came into contact with the vessel landing soundlessly and clinging to the cold, metallic surface. He shut his eyes for several moments, allowing them to shift into a different spectrum of sight. He blinked many times before the vision adjusted accordingly; he peered down into the vessel, no able to see past the thick metal panels.

A lone woman, but unlike any human he’d ever seen. Her skin was ashen and pale, her body lithe and shapely, but the most notable feature were her beautiful white locks. He reluctantly tore his gaze away from the beautiful human and peered around the cabin of the ship. Small, much to small to do what he desperately wanted to do to this supple beauty. He was sure he would be able to manipulate his size and make it manageable, but where would the fun be if he could barely move?

His eyes fell towards the darkened planet, his eyes shifting to a different spectrum of a sight, several screens appearing in his vision. He began running several checks on the planet, and after several painstaking moments he found it would be inhabitable. It had an atmosphere that much was certain, but how? As his vision magnified he was able to see several forms of plantlife littering the planet’s earth. This planet had learned to survive without the light from the sun, which led him to also believe there was quite possibly several active volcanoes.

As his scan completed he brought his attention back to the oblivious beauty in the cabin of the ship. She would be his. The armor slowly engulfed his feet again, talons shredding into the ship’s thick panels, attaching him securely to the vessel. He rose his powerful arms up over his head, balling his massive hands into fists. With a bestial roar he brought his hulking fists down, slamming the vessel and sending it into a downward spiral towards the planet.

Post Re: Dark Waltz (Spartacus)
Nicole remained oblivious to the world outside her mind’s musings. Her past, her present, and the course of her future all weighed heavily upon her being. The ship’s sensors however, snapped her attention back to reality. “Something hit the ship’s exterior?” she raised an eyebrow, that in and of itself was not unusual considering her proximity to the planet’s rings. Stray ice and rock particles were bound to occasionally impact her vessel, but this was different. The ship’s sensors repeated its warning, whatever the unknown object was it hadn’t just bounced off. While she pondered what to do however, it was acting on its own. As she’d reached for the ship’s throttle, the warning shifted suddenly warning about hull integrity.
Before Nicole even had the chance to consider that one, a sharp force impacted the ship, rocking it’s from its course. The planet was abruptly filling her screen’s view and growing alarmingly quickly. A quick choice ran through her mind. She could nose dive and burn whatever was on the hull off at the expense of damaging the ship or she could enter the atmosphere normally and deal with it afterwards. Considering this was the only vessel she had, and no one would come looking if she fucked up the landing she opted for the latter. Her hands danced across the control boards raising the ship’s nose with its thrusters in time to start surfing the planet’s atmosphere. Was it habitable? The new question would have to wait until she was down safely at least.
Crossing the atmosphere was uneventful enough, though the air resistance she began to encounter was making the craft more difficult to control. With no tail plane to stabilize its flight the craft was notoriously difficult to handle in an atmosphere. It was fairly aerodynamic though, giving her time to warm up the ground repulsors and landing thrusters. Her hands tapped across the screen, transferring weapons power into the ship’s inertial aides. “See how you like this…” she muttered as the ground neared, her hands throttled the ship back and engaged both the hovering engines and landing thrusters simultaneously. Nearly one hundred Gs of force made the craft groan under the sudden deceleration, and though Nicole was spared the worst by the inertial dampening system, her ‘passenger’ would get the full force.

Admittedly, Pan clung on for dear life. The armor forming around the entirety of his body a narrow panel of a glimmering see-through substance materialized in front of his eyes as the ship accelerated towards the planet’s atmosphere. He accepted the sultry, excruciating pains of crossing the atmosphere stoically, his claws clinging desperately to the thick metal of the ship. Once through it was smooth sailing, the demon slowly beginning to claw his way towards the windscreen of the ship with every intention of making himself known to the delectable beauty within.

He peered ahead and saw the blackened earth quickly approaching. He growled angrily to himself, muttering something about ‘despicable mortal women and their incapability of correctly landing a ship.’ He was prepared to slow the landing of the ship, saving himself as well as his prize when the woman pulled a stunt that even the beast had to applaud. The force tore the demon away from the ship sending him flying several thousand feet off into the distance as the woman’s ship decelerated at an alarming pace.

From his muscled back two inky black wings spawned from his form, the span nearly matching his substantial height. The wings flailed wildly to gain control of his flailing body, once the force had fully exerted itself he remained airborne, hovering ominously in the sky and peering down at the landed vessel. He surged through the sky, closing the large gap between demon and spacecraft. He muttered a series of obscenities once he noticed the distinguishing burn of an open gasp on his forearm. He glared disapprovingly at the cut, and the armor quickly fanned around the wound and sealed it shut.

His armor shifted subtly, returning to his more favored style with a half-faced mask covering his lower features, his violet eyes running the length of the craft. He was poised to strike immediately destroying the engines should his beauty decide to try and run.
