Aegir was bored, not unusual for a creature of his long years though he could hear the cheers of the crowd of the arena as he slunk down the hall in his slow pace. Currently a trio of alien-like beings walked behind him mentally usurped by the telepath. They weren't doing anything particular and he had the basis of an idea here.

He inspected the slave pens, appraising each entrapped soul, though he found one or two of them interesting there were none that he desired to waist his time on just yet. Besides, they had access to various training already and could no doubt improve in time not that it would do them much good he thought as he continued along.

Then he chanced upon a student he had the pleasure of dealing with before coming in from the arena in shredded clothing, obviously on the loosing side here when he was struck with an inane idea. He gave it some thought, though this particular student had no interesting features it got him taking a stroll towards the slave pens housing the students.

He surveyed those that were present and was aware that they were gazing at him with dread. The guards here opened up a cell taking another student to the arena while he studied the remainder. His eyes studying them though it was his brain that was searching through their memories and experiences as he searched for the inexperienced ones.

You.

He pointed at a well endowed student as he slithered closer to the cage. Come forward so I can see you better.

Calisto sighed as she was sitting in her pen at the arena for now waiting for her next match, unlike most of the students she had been trained as a real gladiatrix, most of the new girls having been just slapped in skimpy outfits and forced to flee and fight for there well lives.

Calisto stayed silent as she noticed some new arrivals including some weird looking creature as she felt a strange presence in her mind and shook her head softly as he probed her mind for her memories including her training...

She heard it's voice wanting to see her better as she approached him pressed slightly against the cage that was her home looking at him calmly but inside she was scared.

As she neared he observed her, his eyes dipping down her form then back up. By this stage he had accessed the thoughts he had need of though a hand popped into the cell between the bares giving her a gentle caress on the side of the face.

Today you will loose, tomorrow maybe not. I will see you again at the conclusion of the days events.

With that said he took dwindled as he turned and left, obviously leaving her to ponder his words and leaving her to the events of the day before he would once again come before her once again, coming within arm's length of the cell again, this time with only one green skinned, humanoid creature instead of the three it had with him earlier.

It was winged and insectoid.

Already Aegir motioned the guards to the cell so that they opened it, and when they point to her they fished her out of the cell.

Calisto watched him go shivering from the almost feeling he had given her as she gulped faintly as the day passed by for the young girl..

As tomorrow came she groaned waking up as she looked up and saw the same creature from before with an insectoid creature as she blinked her eyes softly confused about what was going on here.

She didn't have time to figure out as she was fished out of her cage looking at Aegir and his companion...

They walked slowly, he slithering ahead of them though he said nothing as they entered into a sandy, yet deserted arena. He moved toward the center of it before halting and turning around. It was only then that she saw a sword on the ground, was it always there and she had not noticed it before or ...

Pick it up.

The insectoid watched her carefully, chittering as it's mandibles clacked together as it neared her, circling her, watching her. Aegir stood in the near distance, the only audience of this encounter it seemed.

Calisto followed him to the arena glancing at her possible opponent the insect creature as she calmly picked up the sword looking at it softly while she looked at the creature as it told her too...

Calisto turned to the insectoid calmly holding her sword at the ready.

The thing circled her cautiously, looking for apparent weakness in her stance then blitzed in at her slightly to the right at her. Sand from the arena floor was kicked up in it's wake while it slashed a sycthe-like blade arm at her.

It was quick, though now Aegir was at her back splitting her focus on the two individuals again, on purpose so she could only hope to focus on one of them.

She focused on the insect avoiding the sand while her sword blocked the attack from the insect creature as she moved a little clumsily but alright for her first real fight as she continued to fight and went for an attack this time with her sword.

The sound of it's scythe-like appendage clashing out against her sword clanged out, the weapon vibrating in her grasp from the hit though before she could bring it to bare for an attack a second blade-like appendage came up to her throat.

The insectoid wasn't particularly strong though quick it seemed. It just stood there, looking at her with unblinking eyes as if daring her to move, or perhaps waiting for instructions.

Too top heavy, though that cannot be helped. Again ...

The bug thing drew away, then began circling her again.

Calisto gasped seeing this and shook her head as she got ready again for another attack.

This time the creature came at her head on, no it was a faint! It leapt back at the last moment before it reached striking range and came at her from the left before doing it again. Apparently it was checking her reaction times, though it was quick enough to make the second attack likely to have succeeded as she would have to reset and react to it.

Pause. What have we learned already, child? If this were the real thing you would have already been at the mercy of your opponent.
