The Lord of the Kast
"I am Justice most noble. I am Penance most feared. I am Vengeance most bloody. I am Retribution most revered. Above all, I am Kast, and I will not be denied!"Name: Varrik nir Ra'assir Race: Kast Type: Humanoid Alien Place of Birth: Ra'ast, Balat Gender: Male Age:127 years old Height: 7'2" Weight: 346lbs Eye Color: Pale Gold, Black Scleroses Skin Color: Ash Grey Skin Texture: Leathery Hair Color: White Body Build: As one of the Kast, Varrik is well built, sturdy, and muscular, as virtually all males within the Kast are given to considerable physical activities and use strength to determine one's standing within Kast culture. Cock Size: 10 Inches Notable Oddities: Varrik, as with all Kast, possesses four testicles as well as a phallus covered in bumps, along with small and pliable barbs along the head of his phallus, a biological feature meant to induce ovulation in Kast females, but for the most part provides a higher degree of sexual pleasure for females of other species. "I have fought in the darkness of space and in the presence of great stars. I have rampaged across dying worlds, against a legion of foes, with naught but a sword in my hand and my brothers at my back. I have fought all my life and know no other way to live. You who dare ask me why I live as I live, I say this to you... I am Kast, and that is reason enough."Varrik, Lord of the KastFighting Style: Both a fierce warrior and a ruthless killer, Varrik is quite proficient in both close combat and firefights, being trained in all manners of melee weaponry and firearms both. His preferred modus operandi is to utilize a mix of both melee and ranged combat against his opponents. Varrik has also shown some ability in preparing and using high-yield explosives as well, especially against enemies such as the Harvesters. However, as a commander, forsaking direct assaults in favor strategies that make use of multiple targets; Varrik prefers to inflict as much damage as possible over a short span of time, ensuring a speedy conflict over a protracted war. Motivation: Previously had no motivation after brutal reprisals against the Arathir for their attempted xenocide of the Kast, seemingly content to establishing a private kingdom of his own from the citadel of Tortuga. Presently, with the assistance of a certain scientist, Varrik has found a way to rebuild his species and is presently preparing for a campaign to expand his kingdom further, envisioning a Kast Empire in place of an Arathir one. Personality: Varrik is highly methodical and heavily disciplined, a byproduct of the lifestyle and training he received while living on Balat and refined while fighting in campaigns for the Arathir before the Purge. He also maintains high standards and expects the same from everyone else under his command, punishing those who appear lax in following his standards. Paradoxically, it is this attitude that has led to the territories under his rule becoming quite stable and peaceful, despite the rowdy and cruel nature of those under his protection, as Varrik does also command a powerful fleet and an army that is hardened by both experience and constant training. He has proven himself to be a natural leader being named rivlak, or in other words 'warchief', by his fellow Kast survivors for all of his accomplishments before the Purge, which led to the Kast's counteroffensive that crippled and destroyed the Arathir. He also seems to acknowledge others only when they demonstrate that they are worth his respect and admires only strength and power, not weakness and indecision. In this vein, Varrik has demonstrated on numerous occasions that he has absolutely no respect for women; he does not even seem to acknowledge them as individual beings but rather as mere objects. Clothing: These days, Varrik can often be seen in his armor, disdaining anything else as he is a warrior to the core. Special Attributes: Possesses exceptional stamina and vigor, inhuman strength and resiliency, and a natural immunity to most diseases and poisons. Distinguishing features: Bone horns jutting out of the forehead, various tribal tattoos over much of his body, decorative bands on horns and body piercings. Behavior: With the patience of a glacier and the loyalty of many, Varrik seldom see the need to prove himself, as by Kast law, 'Once proven, always proven', thus he often takes on the role of the general in battle, composed and cool-headed. Seldom does he show signs of impatience and recklessness, instead preferring to employ strategies and tactics. Above all, he is one who is forever looking at the larger picture and considering the needs of the many over that of the few. As a leader, he is decisive and does not tolerate failure in any form, punishing people harshly for it and himself even more so should he fail in any way. Likes: Roasted kraven meat (a Kast delicacy), training, fighting, being paid his tithe as lord of Tortuga, sampling new slaves, and above all, warfare. Dislikes: Those that commit the crimes of insubordination and treason, being disrespected or disobedied, weaknesses of any sort, and being asked too many questions. "Why have you done this?""Justice. Our world, you have robbed us of. Your world, we shall in turn burn.""But what of our children and women? They have nothing to do with this!""Inconsequential. No such thought crossed your mind when you put Balat to the sword!""Punish us if you must, but spare our people at least!""Never. Kast law demands retribution. By Kast law, Leran II must burn! By Kast law, your race dies with you!""But-""Silence, insolent one! On my mark, commerce full bombardment of Leran II-""NO! Please! Spare them!""-until nothing remains save for ashes! Now!"Miscellaneous: ~Points of Interest relating to Varrik listed below~Tortuga: Formerly known as the Cradle, it now stands as the stronghold of Varrik, a 'kingdom' of sorts for the Kast warlord and his followers. It was once an orbital station serving as the heart of government for the Arathir, the alien species that had once recruited Kast warriors into their military forces in order to win a desperate conflict against an enemy and subsequently betrayed the Kast, only to be destroyed in return years later by Varrik and his fellow survivors. "Greatest among Arathir cities, the Cradle was their pride and joy. Now, it stands as a monument to their doom, a relic of their arrogance. As Leran II burned, it fell to the Kast as our spoils of war. Now, it is home, lacking as it may be."Leran II: Currently known as Dival, the Kast word for 'abyss' but meant to signify that it is now a 'place of torments', it was once the former home world of the Arathir, until the surface was obliterated in a brutal and hellish firestorm of continuous bombardments from both pirate and mercenary warships under the command of Varril in the Great Purge. No attempts were made to harvest the planet for resources, technology, or even people for slavery, as Varrik had ordered the entire planet glassed in vengeance for what was done to the Kast home world. The world is now incredibly inhospitable, an once verdant garden world transformed into a broken and ashen world, rife with volcanic eruptions and rivers of molten lava that flows everywhere, the atmosphere itself torn away by the cataclysmic event. Now serves as the staging area for brutal survival games that are watched from the safety of Tortuga, the lives of the players being gambled upon. "Home to those that once declared themselves our masters, now home to naught but ashes and spirits. We have named it Dival, for only the dead slumbers there. To those who foolishly decides to cross the Kast, remember the lesson of Leran II... The Kast has no enemies, for we leave none alive."History: Born in the small community of Ra'ast on the fringes of Kast civilization, life was hard and brutal but it was also far simpler. Varrik had been the smallest and youngest in his group, but among all the children, it was he who would go on to do extraordinary things. Like all other Kast, he never knew who his mother and father was, as there was no such thing as 'family' in Kast culture. It was simply the community, which cared for all of the children equally, that dominated Kast life. Despite being small, over the years Varrik grew larger and stronger, eventually surpassing everyone else in his group. By the time he came of age, the Arathir was in the process of uplifting the Kast, enabling them to participate in the intergalactic community as a client race under Arathir rule. Like many others across Balat that swarmed to join the Arathir's military forces, Varrik saw an opportunity to make something out of himself and enlisted as well. Over the years that followed, Varrik and his fellow Kast were slowly integrated into the military as shock troops where they could apply overwhelming pressure to any location chosen by their Arathir commanders, a potent weapon that enabled the Arathir to finally break the stalemate against their enemies and resume their wars in order to further expand the Arathir Empire. Over the span of four decades, Varrik participated in countless campaigns and fought in battles across dozens of worlds. His record of service and extraordinary feats in combat eventually led to the Arathir training him further as a commander for the Kast, one of the few who would rise from among their ranks. Whenever it was an instinctive thirst for more power or simply a desire to better himself further, Varrik absorbed everything the Arathir had to teach him and he began putting those lessons into action, leading his Kast troops into battle as a general. In the Battle of Mihard, it was Varrik who routed overwhelming forces and broke up a coalition of Arathir enemies. In the Battle over Varus, it was Varrik and his Kast that broke through the defensive blockade and stormed the planetary capital, bringing the conflict to an end. And just a year later during the Battle of Erdas, it was Varrik who masterminded the crushing defeat of a powerful rival and overthrew his regime, allowing the Arathir to bring Erdas under its protection. Gehenna, Namora, Drask Prime, Tal Hirav, Camor III, and so many others. Time and again, Varrik proved himself one of the Arathir's best commanders. Though he did not realize how singularly dangerous that made him in their eyes. To them, it was if they had produced a monster who could actually command an army of monsters against them. The threat only grew greater with every victory Varrik brought his masters. After the Purge, after every Kast-held world had been glassed over by the Arathir, it was Varrik who united the scattered survivors and united them into a new legion. They were outnumbered and outgunned at first but they still retained the technology the Arathir had given them. It was only after privately meeting with the conquered enemies of the Arathir that Varrik was able to gain what he needed most... More men, more weapons, more ships. Every world that had been defeated by him were apprehensive at first but soon saw the value in aiding their conqueror, understanding full well what it would mean. It wasn't just an opportunity to free themselves from the rule of the Arathir Empire. It was a golden opportunity to cripple the Arathir, buying themselves the time to rebuild and rearm for future conflicts. It was only several years after the Purge and the destruction of Balat that his allies realized just how far Varrik was ready to go. After amassing a force of Kast survivors, alien troops, and even mercenaries, along with an enormous fleet of warships of all kinds, Varrik engaged the Arathir in the first open battle between the Kast and their former masters. The losses on both sides was horrendous, due to the Arathir throwing everything they had left at him. The rivlak sacrificed much of his troops to absorb the assaults made by the Arathir and waited for the right time to strike. In a single instant, the bulk of the Arathir fleet was annihilated with illegal atomics acquired off the black market, along with a considerable percentage of the Kast forces. Though... None of the Kast were lost. They had been diverted for a different mission instead, striking at the heart of Arathir power, their beloved Cradle. Even as their fleet was destroyed, the Arathir found themselves overwhelmed and broken by Kast warriors. The first battle of the war ended up being the only battle fought. A second Purge was carried out when Varrik ordered the entire planet of Leran II glassed over just as Balat had been. By the time the smoke had settled, Varrik made his home on the Cradle, now renamed Tortuga. Ever since then, he has ruled as the undisputed power in the sector, his kingdom a safe haven for slavers, for criminals, for all the worst scum of the galaxy... Provide they pay him his tithe and adhere to his laws. For a time, the Kast were content to remain within the sector, though there were often incidents where the Kast would take one side against another in the numerous wars that had erupted in the aftermath of the Empire's ultimate defeat and inevitable dissolution. An alliance was made between the Kast and Dr. Steiner as she sought their assistance in containing Harvester outbreaks that were beyond her control. In exchange, she agreed to assist Varrik and the Kast in finding a way to circumvent the genetic incompatibility that prevented them from rebuilding their face. Several years passed with no developments from Dr. Steiner, nothing that would allow for the Kast to rebuild their race. It was only recently that Varrik cut off ties with Dr. Steiner and sought out the assistance of another scientist, a young man who happened to be a genius and a brilliant xenobiologist. It was Dr. Trager who understood that their genetic incompatibility couldn't be overcome. He set himself to understanding and unlocking the secrets of Kast genetics, however. And it was in this manner that he discovered a method for producing more Kast, through cloning technology. Though Varrik had his doubts that such 'false' Kast would prove to be useful, he agreed to allow Dr. Trager to provide him with Kast clones, both male and female. It would have taken time for a new generation of Kast to be conceived and mature to adulthood, but with an army of clones, Varrik would be able to sacrifice what he saw as worthless fodder and keep his fellow survivors in reserve. Now, the rivlak is preparing for a campaign in order to conquer a new homeworld and establish a new empire for the Kast, using all of the resources available to him along with Dr. Trager's Kast clones. No one knows when or where Varrik intends to strike, but the fact remains clear... War is coming.

Re: The Lord of the Kast
"We are warriors. We are conquerors. We are survivors. We do not cower before adversity like simpering fools. We stand against adversity and we grow strong from it! When we lost Balat, we embraced fury. When we faced the Arathir, we found purpose. When we burned Leran II, we vindicated the honored dead. Now, even as the Kast die out, fear.. and respect... of the Kast grow daily!"Index1.1 - History1.2- Biology1.3 - Culture1.4 - Appendix1.5 - Vocabulary1.1 - History"Balat favors only those that survives. Balat breeds only the strong. Balat is mother to the Kast. Orphans we may be now, the lessons of Balat will never be forgotten."The Kast are a species of large humanoids native to the unforgiving and arid planet of Balat, a world noted for its harsh conditions, virulent environment, and an overabundance of predators both fierce and deadly; it was in such adverse surroundings that the Kast not only survived but even thrived in their place at the top of Balat’s food chain. Balat, and the Kast, were eventually discovered by a rapidly expanding empire known only as the Arathir, who had briefly considered establishing an orbital station at the arid planet in order to utilize the world for ecological research. The plan had been abandoned and the Arathir did not visit Balat again for the next six hundred years, not until intergalactic war had broken out between the Arathir and various species. For a time, the Arathir held their own, using advanced technology to maintain an edge over their enemies until numbers began to prevail over that one edge. Desperate, the Arathir eventually returned to Balat, hoping to make use of the native Kast there. The tribal and warlike Kast were precisely what they needed, a weapon to give the Arathir an edge over their enemy's superior numbers. Already toughened by conditions worse than anywhere else and blessed with natural immunity to most diseases and viruses, the Kast was superior physical specimen compared to the Arathir. After initial problems, the two species then entered into an agreement; the Arathir would uplift the Kast, bringing them into the intergalactic community in exchange for the Kast serving as one of the many client races under the Arathir. Their role was simple at first, to serve as the shock troops of Arathir forces, their great strength and ferocity brought down to bear upon their enemies. Where the Arathir deployed them, the Kast left only carnage and destruction in their wake. It had been a mutually beneficial agreement. In time, however, the Kast came to be feared as one of the greatest military powers in the intergalactic community, even to the point of being regarded as more than just the military arm of the Arathir. The Kast leadership had been, time and again, approached by foreigners and enemies alike with the hope of enticing them into betraying the Arathir. By Kast law, which ruled the race, they would never entertain such ridiculous notions as going back on the words of their ancestors. The Arathir, however, grew fearful of betrayal by Kast hands. With each world crushed, the Kast grew more powerful. With every enemy conquered, their might came to be feared. In order to ensure their future survival, the Arathir implemented various schemes to maintain their control over the Kast and ensure that their client race would never gain the upper hand over them. Such tactics failed as what use for politics and intrigue did the Kast have? Desperate, the Arathir leadership turned to even bloodier methods. Biological weapons were utilized, only to be rendered harmless. Attempts to turn the Kast upon itself all failed, as the species observed Kast law unfailingly and unquestioningly. In the end, a final solution was chosen. If the Kast could not be reliably controlled, they had to be neutralized. Total extermination. That was the Arathir's last hope for supremacy. Already in control of both information and communication, Arathir loyalists kept the Kast in the dark, ensuring that their attention were brought down against their own enemies, while they began systematically destroying all Kast colonies. It did not take long before Arathir fleets glassed planet after planet, destroying all evidence of the Kast. Before long, only the Kast homeworld of Balat remained. By the time the surviving Kast forces had discovered this treachery, Balat had been destroyed in a hellish firestorm of orbital bombardments. As females had no place in the Kast military and were instead left on Balat and other Kast worlds, the race had been virtually sterilized as they were genetically incompatible with every other possible species out there, leaving the surviving Kast as the last of their kind. The genetic mutations of their origins that had been considered as a blessing of Balat now served as a curse for the remaining Kast, unable to breed with no living Kast females on hand. Believing them to be crippled, the Arathir no longer saw the Kast as a threat. They were still hunted but no longer a concern for the Arathir. This was a mistake, as the Arathir would discover. Now, the Kast would exterminate the Arathir, regardless of whenever there were those that fought for the Kast or not. Before long, only the planet Leran II remained, the capital world of the Arathir's fallen empire. With a massive armada of both stolen Arathir warships, Kast destroyers, and various other alien vessels, the Kast and their allies placed Leran II under a planetary siege, intending on containing the world, and the remaining bulk of the Arathir species. An assault on the orbital station known as the Cradle, which had served as the seat of power for the Arathir leadership, saw the dissolution of what remained of the Arathir government. With Arathir leaders brought to witness the fate of both their race and their world, the Kast returned the fate that had befallen Balat to Leran II, bombarding it with deadly ordnance until no life remained on the planet, until the very crust itself had been shattered, until the world had been rendered inhospitable. The surviving Arathir, they had cast back down to Leran II and told to learn to live with the consequences of their choice. Admittedly, this was something the few remaining Arathir did not do very well, as they had perished within seconds, their own homeworld no longer able to support its natives anymore. With the Cradle in Kast control and Leran II renamed as Dival, the remaining Kast began establishing themselves as an independent power in the sector, maintaining control of both the great armada they had assembled and the worlds they had conquered, save for those that had once belonged to the Arathir. And ever since then, the Kast had remained where they are now, on the massive orbital station known to many throughout the universe as Tortuga, firmly under the rule of the Kast rivlak, Varrik nir Ra'assir. 1.2 - Biology"Balat made us strong, made us powerful. You were either hunter or hunted. You were either victor or vanquished. You were either sated or devoured. The weak fall and die. The strong feed upon the weak. That was the ultimate law of Balat. Re: The Lord of the Kast
Ahoy, Varrik! Ye be a fine creature and worthy t' be part of me crew. If ye have other plans, I wish ye fair hunting.
I've always wanted t' pickup a crew in Tortuga and commence to raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weaselly black guts out.
Interesting monster, Forny. I can't wait to see his history.

"...Hmph, I must decline your offer, captain... You are, however, welcomed to dock at Tortuga, provide you remember to pay the Kast your dues, whenever it be with your profits or with your body..."Thanks! Would you be flattered if I mentioned that I used both your characters Fluffy and Quagga as models for the Kast aspects of his profile? I certainly couldn't have made the profile as good as it is now without them. And his history shall be up soon, and it shall be bloody and violent and awesome! Also, that quote makes the use of 'Tortuga' rather appropriate, doesn't it?

Re: The Lord of the Kast
Kast's flavor text reminds me of characters from the Warhammer series of games, so much so I'd almost suspect you of being one of their writers. ^_^ You make me want to create new characters. Perhaps after my current threads Natsuki can take a nice sabbatical.

Re: The Lord of the Kast
... I am not one of the Warhammer writers, no... But, hypothetically speaking, if I was (Not that I'm saying that I am), I would also like to ask you to keep your suspicions to yourself. Please. And I am deeply honored that I inspire you to make new characters! You have no idea how much I enjoy reading threads with Natsuki in them.
