Post subject:  Sayuri Saito,

((I'm copying most of this over from the old student thread instead of having it moved because that's ancient and a huge chunk of this needed to be rewritten. The old thread is here for those curious. Also, this story is relevant to her return))

Name: Sayuri Saito
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Place of Birth: California
Nationality: American
Hair: Black and cropped short. It stands out along the back of her head in a wedge, and two longer parts hang on either side of her face.
Eye Color: Dark brown
Ethnicity: Japanese
Skin Tone: Pale tan
Pubic Hair: An unkempt black mane
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 133 lbs.
Bust: 30B
Waist: 28
Hips: 32
Build: Sayuri is lean and muscular, yet at the same time incredibly lithe. Her frame is a gymnast's, though her body is more sharply muscled.

Psychological Profile: Sayuri has the memories of madness but the strength and resolve of a newfound sanity. Her mind is a little slippery, and sometimes she jumps to conclusions that seem illogical at first but pan out in the end. Terrifyingly, though, with the distracting insanity now peeled away from her mind, she seems to have regrown the beginnings of her old bloodlust, and what once was a desire to build alliances is now a strong urge to keep largely to herself.

Personality: Sayuri is unfailingly strong-willed. She gets what she wants and will carve a path of bodies to get to it, which is worrisome as sometimes what she wants is to carve herself a path of bodies. She used to be focused and goal-oriented, but having a whole universe to play in has stripped out most of that in favor of meandering about haphazardly and taking life as it comes. In general, those meanderings tend to guide her towards assisting slaves and other humans and working against slavers and the less kind monstrosities of space, though exceptions arise. Occasionally, she attempts to hunt down information on her old lover before giving it up as a bad job.

Former student? Yes.

Piercing or Tattoos: Faint scars line her inner arms laterally. The kanji for "sword" is inked between her shoulder blades in thick black lines. There is a series of faint dot-shaped scars along her labia from when she sewed them shut.

Language: English, Japanese
Likes: The freedom of meandering through the stars without a destination or cause, sharp things, knowing she's bested a foe stronger than herself, the comforting arms of another woman, and this one bizarre noodle dish her ship's computer suggested to her that is native to a tiny rock on the far edge of the Vanejin galaxy.

Equipment:
Ship, "Musashi's Oar" - A rather small craft by most standards, and completely unarmed, it is nonetheless more than enough to suit Sayuri's needs. Its data banks have most of mapped space and tidbits about various systems, as well as enough intelligence to occasionally nudge her towards a destination if she's been idling in one system inactive for too long. What it lacks in weaponry, it makes up for in speed and stealth, and can often slip itself along a larger ship's wake, overtake its prey, and settle in for a boarding maneuver. There isn't much of a cargo hold for the piracy Sayuri depends upon to keep herself afloat, but she seems happy to grab what she can and get away either with the rest floating adrift or, ideally, escape before she's even detected. There's only a single crew quarter, but the bed seems specifically designed to hold an extra sentient or two.
Cloak - The ship came stocked with a handful of heavy, green cloaks that are lined with some sort of protective weave (there's a proper name for it, but Sayuri can never quite remember it right. Ferret-fibers or something) that absorbs a large amount of impact and dissipates the energy of laser blasts and similar weapons almost as well as more rigid armor. The inside is lined with dozens of finely tuned daggers and knives, some weighted for throwing and others longer and intended for close combat. Despite four years in intensive psychological recovery, Sayuri doesn't seem to have forgotten how to handle these tools to great effect.

Miscellaneous:
Tender neck - For whatever reason, Sayuri's neck is especially sensitive to touch. It is the first thing she offers to lovers and the last thing she lets an attacker near. If grabbed by her throat, she has a strong tendency to freeze or go limp in her captor's grasp.
Minor telepathy - Sayuri has developed a sort of sixth-sense as it relates to non-human sentience. If any malicious alien approaches her without actively masking the subtle psychic emanations all things give off, she will usually detect them nearby in the form of an unpleasant scent, though this merely warns her of danger others might not sense. Non-malicious ones produce more pleasing or neutral smells, as their personalities permit.
Bone Knives - Sayuri has a pair of knives on her at all times tucked under her skin under her wrists. Once drawn, her body begins to reproduce the unnatural bone formation, usually being ready again within a week.
Peak physical condition - While she was experiencing what she thought was a psych ward, Sayuri's body was in a semi-stasis aboard Musashi's Oar. Her muscles were kept not only from atrophying, but built carefully up to a peak condition by technology she never bothered attempting to understand. Combined with being freed from the island's inhibitors, Sayuri moves faster and hits harder than any human her size should be able to, though not by a terribly wide margin.

Background:
Pre-Shokushu: In her formative years, Sayuri was always a happy, if cold, girl. She studied kendo and kenjitsu thoroughly under her mother, had plenty of friends, and did exceptionally well in school. Always a bit reserved emotionally, she found herself comfortable at the edge of her social circle. With her natural ability and her mother's training, she had a promising career of professional kendo ahead of her. That was, of course, until fate decided to rip the veneer she'd built around herself aside. One night, walking home from a late training session, she was accosted by a group of men with darkest intent for her. The district attorney reluctantly called the resulting slaughter self-defense. Unfortunately, the taste of blood had intoxicated and called to the young woman, and her mother sensed the change it was promising to have on her. A long boat ride later, Sayuri was somewhere she could never draw another sword until her temper had been cooled.

Early Campus Life: Sayuri's first months at the campus went as they normally do for the students unlucky enough to be tagged as 'available'. She found solace in the arms of a lover, built up a continual supply of rage to feed those creatures that could appreciate it, and hated her own weakness. It was that last trait that drove her into the woods. She spent months away from classes, the other girls, and all things normal while she solidified her rage into a cold contempt and trained herself thoroughly in the use of crudely-fashioned flint throwing-blades. When she returned the first time, she bought a few minor victories by holding fast where other students would yield. In the end, though, the creatures were still beyond her ability to subdue. In desperation, she decided she needed to train further and in a harsher environment.

Underground: For over two years, Sayuri lived willingly in the basement of the school. At first, she felt her training reach another level with the constant pressure she was under. Her mind was sharpening despite the defeats, and her body was hardening to match it. As she pressed on, though, that edge began to cut back. Her sanity sheared away so smoothly that she never noticed its fading. The continual defeat, rape, and brutality she was subjected to crushed her psychological defenses and left her strange and shattered. She was considering, in a horribly depressing moment of lucidity, abandoning her list and jumping to the end result early when Miss Steel discovered her hidden away in the back of an empty room. The horrors visited upon her during their brief time together, compounded by the monster's belief that Sayuri was somehow her father, convinced the young woman that she had to complete the list, no matter the cost, before she could take her final rest.

Psych Ward: It turns out that an insane young woman who likes stabbing things isn't worth much in the slave pits of Vanejin VI. Which is why, when the school administration got an offer to buy Sayuri, cash up front before she even made it through the blockade, a guarantee to bring her in for transport before hand, and an offer of assistance in running whatever crop Sayuri was part of through the ADD checkpoint, they didn't hesitate to take it. Once Sayuri was in the hands of her new owner, Miss Steel set about creating an environment to better heal the young woman's mind. The simulated environment turned out to be precisely what she needed, and, four years later, she was released back into the wild, as it were. Sayuri has come to accept and, after a fashion, reciprocate the somewhat familial feelings of her new owner, who in turn seems perfectly content to let the murderous little pirate free to cause mayhem across known space.

*grins* i have to say, that reads like a much more fun thing to do with Sayuri than the other resurrection you had suggested for her ^.^ in space, no one can hear the person you just disembowelled scream...

Post subject:  Re: Sayuri Saito,

I'm glad you all like Sayuri's new iteration! I've got some short fiction incoming to help bridge the gap between her trying (and failing) to destroy the school and getting her own ship to muck about on.

Also, my first act of piracy is to totally steal that line from Kite. Now to set about a second...

Keep that up and you're going to actually make me finish the profile for Delivery (my in progress maybe/maybe-not semi-psychotic spacegal). wouldn't want to derail Warm Dark, would you? ;p

Is that supposed to be a bad thing? 'Cuz another vector to rp with you sounds like a good thing to me.

Also, for those not around enough to be watching multiple sub-forums, you should probably take a look here for the full effect of Sayuri's reintroduction.
