Capabilities:

Significantly stronger than a human, and much heavier. Is able to move across difficult ground with no loss in speed, and her acceleration on the charge is surprisingly fast. She is capable of reaching a speed nearly twice that of a human sprinting with very little warning, and the impact of such a charge can be crippling. The two antenna on her head also act as psychic amplifiers, although a mind must either be held between them, or otherwise prepared, to be receptive to commands and impulses transmitted by them. Anyone held between them for an extended period of time has their mind and will burned away, turning them into a 'drone' whose mind is under complete control of Ssrathi. This does require several minutes of unbroken mental assault, and Ssrathi is loathe to do so unless she has the protection of a nest around her. She has armour plating capable of deflecting ADD rifle fire, although a sustained barrage will cause cracks and eventually break through. She has a very intelligent and fast mind, designed to work with thousands of perceptions at once, and give an entire nest a single mind. Finally she has the ability to deliver a mental shock to the mind if she can move her opponent's brain in between her two antenna for several seconds. This is generally used to convert something into a 'drone' or to inflame the need to be mated in another Formicadeus female. Ssrathi has experimented with several human slaves, and has discovered that the same mental shock can spark an orgasm in a human female, with the intensity varying based on the willpower of the female being 'attacked'.

Fighting Style:

Extreme focus on the charge. Can move with surprising speed across difficult terrain, but has trouble checking her own momentum when she's at full charge due to her mass. Very hard to knock over due to weight and six limbs, but cannot get up if knocked onto her back without assistance. Very strong, and often tries to charge past someone and knock them to the ground with her spear as she moves past. Mainly uses her two tentacles to 'grip' her prey for mating or pick them up from the ground, but if weapons are locked she will lash out with them and attempt to grab. If she catches someone with either her tentacles or her hands her first choice of action is to bring their head in between her antenna to deliver a mental 'attack'.

Weaknesses:

Ssrathi is easy to taunt, and while her charge can be sudden she can't change direction well while doing so, and her deceleration isn't anywhere near as fast as her acceleration. In addition she is physically incapable of getting up if she falls onto her back. Finally as long as she is angry she doesn't really think and plan what to do next and instead relies on brute power.

Motivation:

To acquire additional genetic strands for her to use when she creates her own nest, to build funds for her to purchase slaves to convert into 'drones' when she builds her own nest. And because it's always fun fucking others.
Psychological Profile: Ssrathi is the youngest of the current generation of Formicadeus Royals, and has a burning desire to prove herself and form her own nest before the next generation is born to her older sisters and cousins. Like most Formicadeus females she craves control over others, be that body or mind, and loves the sight of another female on her back. She is reckless, eager to charge in to a fight to prove herself even if it would be wise to hold back. She hates being led by another, and just seeing the back of someone in front of her running is likely to bring about her charge.
Personality: Ssrathi is arrogant, headstrong and very aggressive. She is easy to taunt or anger, especially if she is called young, a child or inexperienced. But despite all that she has a very sharp mind designed to do the thinking for thousands, sometimes even tens of thousands, of individuals, and when she isn't angered is capable of very elaborate deceptions and traps as well as spotting even the slightest flaw in technique.
Sexual Oddities: Her natural preference is to take someone on their back, but she has found that more than that she enjoys taking someone helpless and unable to do anything but be fucked by her.


Clothing: Has a golden pendant set with a Jacranni stone as an insignia of who she is, and a spear that has been fashioned from the bones of a Formicadeus Royal Warrior. Instead she has natural armour plating that can regenerate over extended periods of time (days for scratches, weeks or months for serious damage)
Distinguishing features: Among the Formicadeus the pendant she wear. The tattoos on her body also act as identifiers, and anyone who knows what Formicadeus tattoos mean can instantly tell that she is a 'Virgin Queen', namely a royal female who has not started her own nest, but also hasn't been subdued and mated with by another female.
Behaviour: Aggressive, arrogant, and loves being in control and able to set the rhythm of whatever she is doing, be that a fight or sex.

Notes on the Formicadeus Race: The Formicadeus are not a common sight in the space lanes, but this is more due to a natural seclusion and internal strife than due to lack of ability or numbers to do so. They tend to prefer volcanic or tectonically unstable areas to create their 'nests' in, and often colonise the worlds closer to the sun. They have extreme tolerance for heat and radiation, and while females are unable to survive in a vacuum sterile male warrior breeds are capable of lasting a few minutes out of an atmosphere. Despite their natural aggressive traits the Formicadeus are generally peaceful, and quite willing to deal and work with other alien species. They are generally honourable in their dealings, and seem to have an innate hatred for dishonesty and deception. At least politically. In war they are some of the most vicious and cunning opponents one can face, and despite their lack of non-biological technology they are capable of shredding most opponents within weeks. In the few instances where worlds have gone to war with Formicadeus nests these almost always end with the Formicadeus wiping out their opponents with ease, out-thinking and outfighting them regardless of technology and military doctrine level of their opponents.

The Formicadeus reproductive system is unusually complicated. Females are rare, most queens giving birth to dozens of pure male generations before new females are born. All 'males' are sterile, although they generally retain their penis. The females are unique in that they usually have a penis of their own, although it is concealed most of the time behind armour plating. However when specific portions of the female brain is stimulated directly by neural shock their body seems to undergo rapid mutation, losing their penis and instead developing a more traditional female vagina. They also become very submissive to the one who 'shocked' them, becoming what is known as a 'Princess' rather than a Queen. A Queen requires external genetic material to create the eggs required to spawn a generation of Formicadeus, and they seem to be able to adopt genetic material from any female with human-like sexual systems.

Acquiring additional genetic material has two stages. The first requires the Queen to coat the inner walls and womb of her 'mate' with a special chemical compound, released from the tip of her cock upon achieving orgasm. The second stage involves her body absorbing as much liquid as possible that is released after passing through her 'seed'. The primary method of a Queen doing this is generally into her cock, although they can also use a tentacle or their mouth if they so desire. Sex is not all about function however, and Formicadeus do 'fuck for fun' when the mood takes them. They do seem able to splice in useful traits and abilities from other species that they have mated with, and that discovery has meant that there is a high demand amongst Formicadeus colonised worlds for any female that they can acquire new traits and enhance existing strains with.

Formicadeus colonies are generally called Nests, although when a Nest becomes large enough that it can start producing new Queens of it's own safely (a Queen takes much longer to grow, and is a considerable drain on resources than any other 'strain') they are officially referred to as Hives. Hives are generally allied with other Hives ruled by their sisters, cousins, daughters and nieces, and these alliances are called Hive Clusters. Hive Clusters do not get along with each other, and in fact require the transformation of other Hive Cluster's Queens into Princesses to grow. The more Princesses a Queen has in her 'harem', the larger each generation of Formicadeus she spawns is. Which gives a Queen additional ability to spawn new warriors to replace casualties in battle, or workers to support larger populations. It is worth noting that ALL non females spawned by a queen are essentially mindless, and all thinking is done by the Queen, and than transmitted psychically to her 'children'. There seems to be no delay in this system, even over massive distances, and that unity gives hives a massive advantage over almost every other species they encounter.

This isn't quite finished yet, but since all that's missing is her history I decided to put her up and let people have a read/look, and than work on her history when I get the chance.

Ssrathi is primarily designed for the Arena, although she may make the occasional foray into Space if something catches her eye amongst the ranks of the ADD.

Nice monster, I must say. While Ssrathi herself might be designed for the arena, I think her species may make good enemies for the ADD as well.

Just a thought.. since the males are all sterile, but do have reproductive organs, perhaps this means that at some point males had a reproductive function, but as the queens' abilities evolved, male reproduction became redundant and eventually they lost the ability?

I was thinking more along the lines of sometimes the Queens want to be able to double team, or more, their 'Princesses' to maximise what they can acquire, and roping in the males to help with that works well. It could also just be a recent mutation that has become near universal so that if a Hive encounters a species that has a similar system the Queen can use males to 'test' the new species to see if they are acceptable splicing material. If so the males bring them back, if not the Queen just loses a few males which are meaningless to them.

And yeah, originally she was just Arena, but I decided to put her (and her race) up for space scenes at the last minute after thinking it over.
