Personality: Upon his awakening Birch had found that his Ashen handlers had already transferred him to Shokushu. Instinctively he knew how to survive even if he were being observed by scientists that had been interested in his awakening as more of a curiousity.

Fighting Style: Birch prefers stealth phasing through plants and herding students to Thudd (when working with the giant) or other dangers/hazards. He enjoys taunting his victims by appearing close by and directing their movements. He is interested in harvesting his nectar above most other matters for it is through the harvesting of sexual fluids that he prolongs his life and essentially “eats”.
Bio: An Ashen experiment, Birch was the first of his species.

A tree was given sentience and he was the first of the Yengal. Around that time the Ashen grew busy with dealing with the Ashlyn swarms so they did not have the inclination to study him further. Other objects had been “awakened” by the Ashen in their war with the Ashlyn swarms based off of the independent research of an Ashen scientist that silently observed the plant and thought of practical uses for the Yengal (named after the scientist who figured out the means of awakening living, yet inanimate objects).

Abilities
Enzymes: Birch's saliva contains an enzyme that allows him to harvest better. The enzyme when combined with the juices of his prey antiseize a passage numbing it up as a mosquito or leech does it to a wound.

The interior of his “root” can spray forth this enzyme if he wishes that dulls pain.

Harvest
The main “root” of Birch has an opening at his tip where he can suck up the essences that nourish him.

Phasing
Birch can phase through plants large enough to house his entire body jaunting instanteously from one plant (typically a tree) to another that is capable of housing him. Wooden objects used to harm Birch harlmess pass through him. As long as the tree is within 100 yards he can jaunt to it if it is not a senient being.

Plant Control
Birch can control inanimate plants in a 3o foot radius causing them to move or even uproot at his direction.

Plant Sense
Birch can sense plants of all kinds unerningly out to 100 yards and knows if they are sentient or not and any special properties of the plant along with their uses.

Vulnerabilities
Extreme Cold:
Cold fronts make Birch sluggish. Intense cold causes him to reflexively pull away from and object/person.

Fire:
As a plant, Birch is rather vulnerable against flames and such attacks are twice as potent against him. His bark, however does not catch flame easily

Due to her sexual abilities Birch has found that Pia has a rather unique taste that he has preference in to all others.
