The sun had long sank beneath the horizon and as the sky had darkened his activity increased. He had been given information from his hidden node, a node that spied on all the students from it's hiding place. Though small size made it easier for him to hide in a potted plant in the hall he sent his findings to his parent Aegir.

Now musicians had been something that Aegir had an interest in and thus he reviewed all the knowledge that he had received by his node's telepatic proding into Katrina's mind. He had been aware that she had no classes or no activities ...

He waited for the hour of 3 before making his move out of his cove at the beach to the dorms. He had not bothered with cloaking himself in any illusions. The night was moonless and the darkness hid him well. He sensed brain waves of individuals, most had been in sleep while there had been a few night owls still up, some of which were cramming or working on papers.

But as he neared the dorms his skin became more of a maroon color to better match the bricks of the building. Doing this before he had no problems in scaling the side of the building, suction cupped tentacles fastening against the brick as he hoisted himself up.

He came to a window, locked of course though it took him nothing to usher in his telekinesis to unlock then open the window. Inside he could see Katatrina fast in the throws of REM sleep.

He moved closer as he flowed into the room and got to the edge of the bed, then he closed his eyes as he changed her dream ... she was in an elogant gown, a choker on and elbow length gloves while he had been a tall man with a paper thin mustache, a beret, and thin lens.

Sebastain. His name was Sebastain. Tucked beneath her chin had been a Statavatus violin. The man spoke in french as he shook his head from side to side. "No, no, no, B flat, not sharpe, begin again."

The alteration in her dream had been completely incomprehensible. So far as she knew, she'd always been dreaming whatever this dream was supposed to be. There seemed to be something of a fog on her mind as she tried to focus on the man that was speaking to her. She'd done it wrong again? That didn't make any sense. She'd never missed that.

With a sigh, she straightened herself again and started from the top again. Mozart's "Violin Concerto No. 1" was the subject. For some reason, though, perhaps the indescribable fog that seemed to block her mind's processing ability, she could not play the piece in its correct scale. Regardless of how hard her brow crunched in concentration, regardless the attention she paid to the subtle movements of her fingers and wrists the piece would NOT come out correctly.

When he berated her again, she paused, pulling the violin from her shoulder for a momentary rest as her attention turned to the instructor. Sebastian was his name. How or why she knew that was unknown to her, but for an equally unknown reason she didn't care. "I'm sorry sir," she paused, glancing towards the violin, "I don't know what is wrong. I've not played this poorly since I was a child."

"Well don't get it wrong again!" He snapped in french. His words flowed rapidly as he spoke. "And you have less than a week before the concert. I suppose it is best to make those errors now rather than later at the big day ... now again!"

He seemed quite commanding as his eyes rippled closed, his hands went across his chest as his foot beat against the ground in time with the notes as her bow moved across the strings.

He had been mesmorized as she played, though if he had fought it he could have resisted being immobile at the sounds that plucked the chords of his eardrums. "Good ... GOOD ..." he murmured as he listened absorbed so fully in matters that he had hardly noticed now that she had the same gown on that she would be wearing on the day of the performance along with the rest of the orchestra.

Aegir had been particularly vulnerable to the meszmorizing effects of music in any form. Instrumentals such as this and even song ... he had learned to function with it to a limited degree though he could now endure enough of it to act rather than be placid.

He had managed to endure things though but to endure his weakness and grow from it by strengthening his own resolve ...

Mentally, Katarina was screaming at herself for continuing to foul the piece. She knew how to play it off the top of her head, why was it giving her difficulty now. With the slight wane in the creature's concentration she unwittingly willed her own determination to get the piece right into the dream. After another foul she began from the top. This time the piece was flawless in scale and flow.

After what seemed like an eternity of sweet sound, she reached the end of the piece without error. As was her custom, she took a sharp breath after concluding. Gently she lowered the priceless violin she could not remember owning from her shoulder and looked to the man instructing her with a slight smile. Equally flawless French flowed off her tongue like so much honey, "Was that acceptable, sir?" In her voice was no insult or annoyance. Rather she was honestly seeking his approval, though a nagging bite in the back of her mind continued to wonder why.

This had been a dream after all and had no reason to be perfect. Her memory could fail, things could skip around too. Like water it could be fluid. So there were no limits to the creativity that he possessed. But his creativity had not been great. Still he had the canopy of her mind to draw upon to make things interesting if he needed to.

"Magnificent!" the man burst out in french. His eyes settled upon her afterwards. The entrancing spell of music had left him when the sound ended. Though he appraised her skills as he brought a hand to his chin rubbing against it as he did so.

"I think that the concert shall be no challenge once you get over your nerves. There is something akin to a talent show coming up in a few months. Kind of like American Idol though it's being held in Germany. How is your singing? Or rather, I should ask if that interests you first and foremost."

Katarina bowed at the master's praise, taking a precious moment to revel in the attention. The fact that it was so surreal did not seem to bother her at all, indeed she had taken quite well to his influence. His mention of a singing contest, however, radically changed her attitude. She immediately flushed and put up her hands in mock defence, "Singing? No no no no. I'll make the music but I'm not a singer."

"You sure? I bet that you have a lovely voice and are just being modest." He smiled at her, taking one of her hands in his own as he escorted her out of the hall to a lounge. He let her hand go as he took a few steps across the room.

"Drink?" He asked as he walked towards the bar cabinet that had dwelled her. He opened it up, got down either one or two glasses depending on her answer and set those down upon a desk that had been here before getting out a bottle of brandy. There had been a small bookshelf here and two chairs both near the windows that streamed into the room.

"I'm sure you'll have nothing to worry about considering how well you did. Just remember, focus and you'll be fine."
