Diana giggles softly, using her hand to cover her mouth to make it a little less obvious that she's laughing at someone else's expense. "Yes, well, to be 'noble' is to be human nonetheless, I suppose." She smiles at him softly. It isn't a very grand smile, but it is a smile nonetheless. She wasn't going to just give herself to this one, let him court her. She'd never been courted before. The smile spread at the thought. Diana hadn't realized it, but a soft blush had taken residence in her cheeks due to his compliments.

Edward smiled and nodded. "How true.... to err is to be human, if I remember the saying correctly." He said in a tone that held some wisdom of them... of course, he was mimicking the way his father when he said such things.

"Anyway, milady..." Edward said in a polite tone, which held some amusement in them. "Besides your 'boorish' escort that had left you alone, surely you would have no end of suitors to escort such a pearl to a dance like this? Or are they, as blind as your previous escort, I wonder?"

She giggles softly to herself. "No, I'm afraid that my suitors have found themselves more suitable companions. I'm all by myself." She sips from her cup again. "What about yourself? You must have a half dozen maidens heartbroken that you haven't taken them to the ball."

Edward chuckled and said. "I see... then would you allow me to escort you for tonight, milady? And I am afraid that the other maidens like yourself, have found themselves escorts for the night as well. AN interesting coincidence, is it not?"

He was enjoying this light banter as he studied the girl. For all that is worth, he decided if the time comes, he wouldn't hurt her too much when he ravished her. After all, it has been a while since he verbally sparred with someone and enjoyed it.

She shrugged her shoulders and smiled half-heartedly. "Have they, now? Or maybe you just didn't look hard enough?" The comment was half-hearted in its insulting manner, meant more as a joke then anything. "But I suppose if fate has pushed us together, there must be some merit to it. Very well, kind sir, you may accompany me tonight." Playing hard to get was never her forté.

Edward chuckled at the joke that his companion had made, and then said. "Well, I suppose you might be correct, milady. But who am I to care, when it is you, who has caught my eye this very night?"

He then smiled at her consent, and he offered his hand to her. "Shall we, milady? I will lead us to the dance floor... and then a dance awaits us." He said charmingly to her, awaiting her to take his hand so that he could lead her to the dance floor.

Take his hand she did, a soft blush coloring her cheeks, a soft smile blossoming on her lips. She wrapped her fingers around his hand, trusting in him for this night.

Edward nodded and then led her towards where they were supposed to dance. "This way, milady."
