Books you are currently reading Part 2.
Necromancing this thread seemed a bit much, since it is nearly two years old, so I made a new one. I just finished Dreadnought by Cherrie Priest. It is a steampunk/gaslight fantasy/alternate history (or whatever it is popular to call it this week) tale with elements of horror. I rather liked it. I have read one other story by her, set in roughly the same universe, Boneshaker. This one is set in an alternative Seattle in the 1800, where the town is walled in an overrun with zombies. This one is highly recommended, perhaps the best zombie tale I have read. So.. what have you guys been reading?

Not quite a book but I'm reading it all the same... Game Informer. Must keep up to date on games, after all.

Currently reading Dust of Dreams, by Steven Erikson, if you like fantasy at all its from the series Malazan Book of the Fallen, definitely worth a read. Its not high fantasy so no elves dwarves, ect, kind of dark, some sex in a few spots but mainly good story telling with major plot and awesome twists at the end of each book which sheds light on the beginning. Hard to describe. Great combat scenes and most importantly an incredible list of unforgettable characters.

Password Incorrect by Nick Name. It's a series of short stories. Technically not even short stories since each story is around two paperback pages. (I guess. I have it in e-book form.) Unfortunately, I'm so busy I can only read one or two stories per sitting.
All the stories seem to be about technology and how it affects us today. In one story, our hero puts all the information about his life in his 25th generation cell phone. Takes a three month sabbatical in Nepal. Once he retrieves his phone from the airport locker where he stowed it, he can't remember his password, which is *****. Now he can't remember where he lives, his phone number, any info about friends or family, and his own name. So he wanders the airport saying random five-letter words.
Another story is of a computer programmer who fuses to his chair. This surprises everyone since they assumed he would fuse to his desk.
It's a free e-book from the books for geeks website of the URL as the title (no space). I recommend the book based on the four or five stories I've read.

I don't know, but I have long periods where I hardly read anything, and periods were I devour half a book a day.
Just started on Palm Sunday, various essays by Kurt Vonnegut.

Re: Books you are currently reading Part 2.
Actually I am reading an anthology of short stories by H.P. Lovecraft, but I read so infrequently that the book has been lasting interminably. I used to read whole novels so fast I couldn't supply myself with new ones, and now a couple of new books require a month or more to finish.

The October Country, a collection of short stories by Ray Bradbury. I especially like "The Next in Line": very creepy. I also think "Jack-in-the-box" has shades of HP's The OutsiderI'm also rereading The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm again for nostalgia. Can you get better than a futuristic detective story set in Zimbabwe? I think not!

Ray Bradbury was one of the first authors I read in English. I love his short stories from Mars.

Re: Books you are currently reading Part 2.
I remember short stories from Mars! That was pretty good. There was also this short story he wrote about a mechanized house running along after it's owners had passed... in a nuclear blast. I'd like to read that again. Anybody remember the name of it?

That would be "There Will Come Soft Rains", which is in The Martian Chronicles.

Re: Books you are currently reading Part 2.
Oh, I am getting nostalgic again.. I should re-read Martian Chronicles.
I think my favourite Bradbury shorts must be Tall they where, and golden eyed, Usher II or the one I cannot remember the name of, about a city that offers whatever you want (not a good thing..). But now that I think of it, I cannot remember if those are actually from Chronicles or if they just happen to be set on Mars.
