Susan blushed slightly at the compliment; she didn't consider herself all that good a cook. "I'm not that good a cook, really. I've just had a lot of practice with this one. It's my grandmother's recipe actually, and the quickest to make of the few things I can manage reliably."

This is more like how things should be. A quiet dinner together, and conversation with nothing to do with demons and monsters. In fact, the conversation avoided anything to do with the school, as if by unspoken agreement between the two.

Pia enjoyed this too, and did not mention anything to do with the school except in a general manner. Instead she tried to get to know Susan a little better. It was really something she had wanted to do for a long time. Not just because she liked Susan, and found her an interesting person, but because she direly needed the social element, and perhaps so did Susan.

She did not consciously realize how much she needed a touch of normality, at least not to its full extent. She had tended to be a bit of a loner even before she came here, and would normally be happy in her own company. Here, fear and terror had kept her isolated. She had been here well over a year, and had less than a handful of people she could call friends.
The loneliness had been grating on her, but perhaps worse, it was sometimes hard not to let all the bad stuff dominate her. There had been times when it had, when Pia had been withdrawn, sleepless, loosing weight and not in the good way. She had been different then, not the same as the rather cheerful girl contentedly eating the lovely food.

"Your grandmother taught you well", she said. "I happen to be quite fond of Chinese food too, so lucky me!"
"Hmmm..Maybe I should treating you to some of my traditional cuisine.. Sheep head.. Mutton in Cabbage.. Fish seasoned in lye for a year..", she added jokingly.

"Sounds... er... interesting," Susan replied with a comical wince. "Of course, then I'd have to learn some of the more... unusual... traditional dishes to pay you back for the experience." While she couldn't remember the details, she knew there were some that sounded every bit as appetizing as the ones Pia had joked about.

"Seriously, though, cooking is one of the few things I learned willingly in attempts to teach me how to be a 'proper wife' for someone." With a conspiratorial wink, she added, "Mainly because it would help me avoid having to do so."

Pia laughed. She had only been kidding about the threat of traditional cuisine. Half of those dishes she would rather not have herself, and she had no idea how to even make them.
"Don't worry.. The chance of getting proper lutefisk here is pretty slim, something I am pretty grateful for. Mutton in cabbage is better than it sounds though. It is a spice thing.."

"What, serving food in your underwear is not a proper wife thing? I officially like it when you are improper, then.", she added, letting an eye roam Susan's barely covered figure.
"What other things are a Chinese girl supposed to learn to be a proper wife? I mean, despite the impression I get from manga and Hong Kong movies, I suppose it does not include training in doing Kung Fu moves in one of those cute dresses" , Pia added. "Last part was a joke, but I really am curious."

"No, the martial arts were mom's idea, and she really wasn't what my grandparents thought a proper wife should be. Dad didn't think she was, either, but he loved her enough to overlook things he'd consider flaws in his daughter." She paused in thought briefly before continuing, "What I was supposed to learn were the skills for keeping a house in order and how to be a meek, submissive, pretty accessory to my husband." She gave a dismissive laugh to the last part. "I learned at least some of the former stuff, since I'd need it anyway, and I think you can guess how well the rest took hold."

Pia laughed a little, but kept on listening.

"Finished?" she asked, noticing that Pia seemed to be done. "If you want to take that shower now, feel free," she said as she began clearing the table. "And if you'd like some more of my 'impropriety' while you shower, just let me know and I'll be there as soon as I've cleaned up here a bit."

Not that this was the first thing on her mind. "I'll get the shower going then!", she said, heading for the bathroom. "I would sure like the company. Sharing a shower is rather economic, isn't it? Would not want to waste hot water.." Pia grinned, a stroke of naughty on her face.

Inside the bathroom, Pia had a look in herself in the mirror. She did look kind of rumpled, hair tousled from the sex and all. She turned on the water, feeling it move over her hand.

The shower was running by the time she was done, and she quickly headed to the bathroom, leaving a trail of discarded clothes behind her.
