Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
The flames seemed to sever the tentacles that the monster had sent at Kanoe, cracking them until they were sundered from the rest of the holographic creature. This, naturally, disrupted the monster and sent it into a state of disorientation, staggering it for a time. Being struck with even more flames, however, only shut it down even further, making it unable to fight back as it tried to pull itself together, the cracks barely healing due to the flames.
The last bolt of darkness, however, meant the end for the tentacled foe, utterly weakened. The spell tore through its stomach, virtually blasting a hole through the thing as it then began to fall apart, no longer able to hold its form. From behind her, however, the other monster had pulled itself together and was already on the move, one outstretch hand lunging at the student, hoping to send her flying to the floor where it could then pounce at her. All of this, the doctor watched intently as she kept on writing away on her notes, clearly enjoying the fight.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
Fire seemed to work just as well against the light based creatures. The continuous damage seemed to really mess the monster up and gave her plenty of time to finish it off. The bolt of darkness along with her arm punched right through the creature, causing it to crumble apart. She knew there was still one more creature to fight and quickly turned to find it was already lunging at her.
"Oof!" Kanoe gasped as she was thrown to the floor. She quickly rolled to her side and onto her back to see the monster leaping towards her. Chanting a spell from before, she gathered flames in her between her hands and sent it arcing towards the leaping creature. Hopefully the attack would disorient the creature as it comes down on her. If it is not enough to get it off of her, she will summon more bolts of darkness and try to punch some holes into this monster as well.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
The flames quickly struck the creature, spreading out as it quickly crack under the constant damage, growing disoriented. It was enough to stagger the creature and send it crumbling over the witch, crashing to the ground just but a few feet away from Kanoe as more cracks spread faster. If she was being honest, the scientist would have admitted that she was rather impressed with the student being able to handle herself well, even with the monsters being hamstrung on purpose. Still, they could certainly get stronger if she so wished it. Until then, however, she decides to allow Kanoe complete the exercise by finishing off the monster herself. Then, perhaps she shall bump the setting up and see how the witch does against improved versions of her opponents. They did want to test her and see how long it would take until fatigue set in, after all. And admittedly, so did the doctor.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
Though the inhibitors were not on in this room, Kanoe was still a beginner in magic. Raw power and her over abundance of mana were primary advantages. Her discipline and control were still lacking. In this room, she did not have to force her powers as much to get the results she wanted. But at the same time, she is still using large amounts of mana in order to cause lasting damage to these holographic monsters. It was only a matter of time before she burned out.
The dark witch quickly climbed to her feet and prepared another bolt. She punched a hole into this monster to cause it to start crumpling into shards of light. Kanoe was sweating some and taking slow deep breaths. Against monsters, she had no choice but to go full throttle. There was no time to experiment on more efficient ways of destroying them. All she could do was pump as much mana and power into spells and aim for where she thought their vitals were or center mass.
Brushing hair back behind her shoulders and away from her face, she turned to the scientist who was apparently making notes of everything that had happened. Something told her that this experiment was far from over. Kanoe simply waited, trying to recover her breath as much as possible before more horrors were thrown at her.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
As the student remained where she was, resting up before the next exercise, the doctor was busy jotting down, scribbling away both notes and her opinions. Before long, Kanoe was joined by Dr. Steiner, who had approached her with a refreshingly cold water bottle instead of her clipboard. "I have to admit, that wasn't too bad, Miss Shade. Though, it did seem as if you were preferring power over anything else, but if it works, then who am I to complain."
The woman smiled as she too held up a towel, allowing the student to recover before the next stage. "All the same, you handled yourself well. Most other subjects wouldn't be able to keep both of the monsters off them, much less even damage them. Still, you should have a rest before we continue... Chair?" She then gestured toward a nearby one.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
Surprisingly, the doctor approached her with some water and some compliments. "It is not like I have much choice," she replied, accepting the glass, "You sent two large monsters are me. Not exactly much time for me to see if there are specific weakpoints. So I simply focused on destroying them. Seemed to work on stopping their attacks." Kanoe drank deeply of the water to help cool herself off. She accepted the offered towel, slightly shocked by the hospitality.
Apparently others had a similar test but she was perhaps the first magic user to be tested on. She took a seat, drying the sweat as she waited. Sealed in this testing chamber, she was still very much a prisoner here. But at least she was being treated with some amount of respect. How long that will last she did not know, probably not forever though.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
The doctor gave another one of her smiles as the student took the offered towel and the water, seating herself in another chair nearby. "I see, that does certainly make sense. How do you feel, though? I'm sure you haven't had a chance to make use of your abilities without them being hindered against monsters, so I am rather curious as to what you make of it."
The doctor eased herself against the chair, relaxing as she watched her guinea pig cooling herself off. She briefly entertained offering some advice but felt that it would interfere with the experiment, deciding to allow the student to figure things out for herself. "I have to say, I am still not quite comfortable with acknowledging your abilities to be... magical in nature, but at least you do seem to have a good handle on them, despite the inhibitors. Long hours of studying, and even longer hours spent practicing, I take it?"

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
"It was alot less struggling," she replied after thinking on the question for a bit, "It was as if my magic was working with me rather than against me. I did not have to force the spells to work. I just had to becareful not to lose control of it. I rather not have holes punched through myself." Kanoe finished her water and sets the glass on the table. The rest was welcomed and hopefully would keep her going for a bit longer when it comes time for more testing. She did not want to think of what will happen if she burns out.
"Believe what you want," she said cooly, "Whether your data is correct or not due to your lack of belief is of no concern to me. Yes, I practice alot. This is what I wish to learn and the monsters only give me more incentive to get stronger. Your inhibitors do not help much in the learning process." She sighed, stretching slowly. Though she did not move around much, using magic was a workout in itself and took stamina just as much as mana to use and maintain.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
Chuckling, the woman smiled at Kanoe, bemused at her remark. "Yes, I imagine having holes punched through oneself would be rather bothersome. Still, I am glad that you've decided to exercise some caution. Most others would have tried to push themselves, see what they are capable of. You, at least, have common sense, which is a trait that surprisingly few people has." Dr. Steiner was beginning to notice just how much of the student's body had been shaped by the monsters, how much she must have suffered through after all of their attacks on her. From what she had heard, the student was somewhat rather popular among the less seen inhabitants of the Island. "Well, despite what I have heard about you, you seem to have survived where others would have been broken down after all that."

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
"You're just glad because it means your little test subject does not break too quickly," she replied, arms crossing infront of her chest, "But yes, common sense is a rare trait." People were stupid. It was a simple fact that one got used to. Then again those fools also tend to think everyone else are the less intelligent ones. Just a matter of perspective one could suppose. Kanoe was still very wary of this woman and for good reason. She was a trapped rat in here and there was no telling how long she was going to be here. The doctor mentioned personal quarters during her stay so the witch could be looking at days or even weeks in the labs. She could ask but it was doubtful she would get a straight answer. "What you have heard about me?" she said, eyes narrowing, "Not much of a compliment..."

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
"Heh, well... Surely you cannot blame me for wanting to see what you're capable of. But yes, in all honestly, I wouldn't like it if you were injured." Leaving it at that, the doctor allowed silence to move in between them, her attention drawn away by some of the machinery and equipment she had yet to use, as she went over what she had to do with Kanoe. Eventually, she turned her eyes back onto the student as the question was asked of her. Taking a moment to consider her answer, she merely shrugged. "You're rather popular with the monsters, and word has it, you don't exactly turn down anyone who come to you. If anything, it sounds as if you're rather casual about sex, especially if it's with someone who's... Well, human. Apart from that, it doesn't sound as if very many people bother you."

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
The scientist had no issues admitting to what Kanoe said. It was not like the witch could do anything about it. Though if she became annoyed enough, she may just take her frustration out on this woman even if the price afterwards is too high. She did not like the fact they had been spying on her. The witch gritted her teeth as she glared at the woman. "And how long have you been spying on me?" she said evenly. Her mana flared with her boiling emotions. She knew that no place was safe on the island but did not fond of the fact she was being constantly monitored.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
She merely smiled in response to the student's question, somewhat bemused by her reaction to the scientist's words. "I wouldn't know how long, as I haven't exactly been here as long as you have. But really, an island full of monsters, students getting attacked and raped, and no one being any wiser... Did you really not expect them to take all manners of precautions to ensure that things remain the same, despite all these attempts to get the truth out, all the monster stories being treated as only fanciful rumors?" The woman shook her head softly, though she did have to admit that she could see where the student was coming from. Having one's privacy violated was never such a nice feeling, after all. "Although, I never said you were being spied upon. It's simply what I heard from others... Though, if you want to take it out on me, I wouldn't mind letting you have your way with me. After all... You're good at what you do, or so they say." Dr. Steiner smiled, rather enjoying teasing the student now.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
"Shut up!" she growled, rising to her feet and nearly knocking her chair over, "Or would you rather I change the experiment to see how well you fare against a witch's unrestricted abilities?" Her hair swayed by unseen winds. Her mana was flowing about her body as her shadow seemed to flicker and dance on the floor. Kanoe was not about to allow herself to be talked to in such a way, trapped or not. "Will it be as good for you as it will be good for me?" The witch said coldly as wisps of shadow gather in her hand. It was apparent she took great offense to the woman's attempts to tease her. Well, they succeeded in getting a rise out of the student but perhaps not in the best way.

Re: For the Sake of Science [for Kanoe]
"I wouldn't, dear. For one, the computer is programmed to activate the inhibitors if you ever decide to attack me, and let us not forget, it would be regrettable if I were to recommend that the school seal your powers completely as they've been proven to be a danger to both others and yourself as well." The doctor smiled as she remained where she was, still as calm and composed as ever. She had never been one to shirk away from danger, especially when she had worked with the Harvesters for a while now.
"So, strike me if you wish, if you believe it to be a fair exchange for being unable to use your abilities again." Dr. Steiner then stood up, still staring at Kanoe, but this time coldly now. "This experiment is over for the time being. You will be escorted to your quarters, and we shall continue once you have stopped being petulant."
