Background
The Xagi were created as soldiers by Ix an extra-dimensional being. Primarily and invasion force the creatures instinctively defend their creator to the point of sacrificing themselves if they have to though Ix can direct them it has been a few hundred years since they have last been directed by Ix who has gone missing. Whether dead or captive the Xagi have poured forth from their dimension to look for and possible retrieve their creator.


Drones – The most common of the Xagi. Both relentless and fearless they appear as spheres of a wide variety of dimensions though typically the size of basket balls when mature though in some special cases some have been known to possess diameters in excess of five feet.

Each drone has two glowing eyes and four long tentacles each capable of emitting a slime of a various color (blue, clear, gold or green). They move though flight and air bladders that keep them buoyant though in airless environments they can pull themselves along with their tentacles at a fraction of their “flight” speeds.

Blue slime – the blue slime neutralizes the effects of the green slime.

Clear slime – it is this slime that has to be injected into life forms before the Xagi sucks up nutrients that combine with enzymes here where they can process the new genetic codes of their victims.

Gold slime – produces copious amounts of a bitter yet effective aphrodisiac though only effective in large quantities against those with stronger wills. It brakes down the wills of most people quickly enough. Though one may come to crave it after a time it is not addictive.

Green slime – this sticky slime adheres to objects restraining them in place long enough to use the clear and gold slimes. The slime goes brittle and flakes off after 20 minutes or so. Also alcohol dissolves it and a sudden drop in temperature makes it very brittle and possible to escape from.

The drones collect genetic material which they use to further their own advancement.

Drones are possessed with only enough intelligence to obey the commands of other Xagi.

In addition to eventually transforming into larger drones or even hunters the sexual juices of a female cause these creatures to bud and produce smaller drones that mature quickly though until that point their slimes are virtually useless.



Collectors – resembling headless apes covered in thousands of useless cilia Collectors are often tasked with retrieve high value specimens for the Xagi swarm. Instead of arms they posses two long tentacles and calloused tentacles for legs. Oddly these things hop very quickly like kangaroos.

The chest cavity contains a long tongue smeared with clear slime often the creature laps up any genetic material it is after using that to further it's own development. The chest cavity has dozens of backwards pointed teeth.

Collectors are fairly bright and are not above sacrificing hordes of Hunters and Drones if it means achieving their objectives.

Collectors that gather enough nutrients either transform into Controllers (if the swarm lacks one) or Wardens after a horrible and rather painful transformation that makes them vulnerable for the duration of the long transformation that often takes as long as ten minutes.



Hunters – raptors, the hunters posses elongated tongues that double as tentacles drenched in clear slime. From their “eyes” they fire forth green slime though these are not truly eyes as these things see by echolocation. Hunters are a little more hardier than drones and are often send against tougher foes showing the same relentless fearless nature of their less developed brethren. They are smarter and have reasoning skills that make them clever.

With enough gathered nutrients hunters first become larger hunters then transform into Collectors.



Wardens – Guardians, these behemoth creatures resemble elephants with armored plates and a mass of tentacles instead of legs. They possess the same sorts of slime that drones posses along with a red slime that fires gouts of plasma-like substance good for melting down barriers. Instead of two eyes the head possess one larger basket ball sized one and dozens of smaller, quarter sized eyes line it's body effectively given it all around vision.

The trunk is prehensile and capable of firing any of the slimes from it though it is unable to change types quickly taking a full minute to use a different slime.

Wardens only develop into Controllers if gathering enough nutrients and only if the swarm lacks for a Controller at the time.



Controller – The driving force of a Xagi swarm, each swarm possesses only one Controller who issues out all of the commands of the swarm and has an inheriant link with them as far as relaying instructions. A Controller looks much like a single floating eye with six tentacles each capable of the same sort of things the drones are along with a gray and black slime. The gray slime is an acid that dissolves clothing though the black slime, referred to as the kiss of death by those that have encountered one and survived is a drug that if consumed erodes the mind and allows it to control an individual. The Controller is telepathic to a limited degree and often seeks to find out what it's new puppet can do to contribute better to the swarm.

This slime has to be applied weekly to renew it's effects and those that have been taken off of the influence of the slime are immune to the effects of the slime if forced to consume it again.



Strengths: Fearless, Hoards, Mutations (see above), Self Replicating (Drones only), Unrelenting
Weaknesses: Electricity, Extreme Cold (makes their slimes brittle though little effect on the Xagi), Fire (Wardens are somewhat immune)



Strengths:

Fearless: The Xagi do not fear. Even electricity which may only have their leaders directing them to find a way around the offending element rather than being kept at bay by it. If no commands are issued Xagi swarms will continue to throw themselves at a problem even if it means certain death.

Hoards: More often then not a Xagi is part of a swarm giving how quick drones self replicate. Combined with a fearlessness they are not afraid to attack in waves sacrificing a great many of their number if the command is issued.

Mutations: Xagi can mutate within their ranks to other types of Xagi (see above).

Resistance is Futile – Or so the Xagi would say, only a small number of them were created by Ix and a smaller number leaving their dimension in search of their Master. In their home dimension they were only given the nutrients that their Master took to them so they have not self replicated legions. Lacking the resources to do so have kept their numbers relatively small thus far though the galaxy at large has opened up a plethora of opportunities to swell in numbers if left unchecked.

Pheromones: The Xagi silently communicate with each other through pheromones. They are weak and incapable of effecting humans. Their sole purpose it seems is to communicate with one another though this is generally limited to a 20 meter spread.

If in an area with strong aromas, such as a sewer or a land fill the Xagi may find this effective range cut down to a mere meter or two. Xagi possess good senses of smell but not so great hearing (save for Hunters which are essentially blind). A Controller has an empathic link with their own swarm out to 2 km and can freely share information with them through it's telepathic abilities to better coordinate.

Unrelenting: Once given a command by a Ix or a Controller a Xagi will obey it even if it's life is forfeit in the process.



Weaknesses:

Electricity: It takes little electrical current to destroy a Xagi drone or Hunter. The larger forms are more resistant to electricity though are still extremely susceptible to even a mild current.

Fire: Flames are twice as effective on most Xagi though only 25% more effective on the Wardens.
