"Some kind of key, it said 'TIN', or something". There's no expression to Midnight's voice now. NP joy. Just a terrible emptiness.

She can't help but feel guilty when she hears that emptiness. “A key … maybe it opens that locked door back there but it wasn't a tin door but a steal one. There is a possibility that it opens something else too.”

She considers for a moment a little unsure of herself. “What is left on the list?”

"A lot of stuff... Again, I'm really sorry about before". There's more feeling in Midnight's voice. "I guess I can empathise with you. You're a lot like me, y'know?" She grins once more. "Other than the you not being single. And having some kinda developed figure".

She blushes a bit. She never considered herself ugly but never thought of herself as beautiful either. When she first got here she had dealt with the constant teasing by getting drunk on contraband alcohol a lot, usually something either she or one of the girls concocted but that was as far as her chemical skills took her.

“Hey, it's alright. I know what it's like being alone and on the outside a lot, I left a pretty bad situation back at home and I thought it was just going to carry over. Somethings are going to be worse though, I just know they will be, have been thus far … this place … it gets to you sometimes and that's been bugging me too and it's just a lot of things boiling over at once so it's not any one thing.”

She can't really retaliate against the things that are here and in class there were always multiple girls. It had surprised her that she even said anything. She felt sorry that the girl didn't have anyone to open up to.

“If you ever need anyone to talk to though I'll keep an ear open.”

"Thanks".

Midnight brushed the hair that had fallen into her eyes away and straightened up. "Shall we get to work, then? First order of business, we need a large sheet of metal. Make sure it's the stuff that could reinforce a wall, and..." She added with a terrifying giggle, "make sure it can handle a small explosion." She mimed with her hands, "Ka-BOOM, Mother Russia!"

She saw Rhain's worried face and added, "Oh, and it's a phrase. I'm not gonna firebomb the Russians".

She giggled, glad to see that the other girl was in better spirits now. “Something that can handle explosives, like how the armor of a tank can hold up against smaller ones? I wouldn't know where to look for that … I don't know if they'd have much of a need for it, maybe we might get lucky and find something suitable. There's still the door at the end of the hall and that locked dooor we passed. Do you think that the key would open it?”

"This key?" Midnight asked, with her unnerving grin that meant she was up to something. "If you want it..." She dropped the key down the front of her shirt, "Then you'll have to get iiit~"

"I'm kidding." She added at Rhaine's mortified expression. She fished the key from her clothing. "Now let's get this door".

This kind of teasing was better. She was still at a loss as to what to do about it but she didn't feel as if she were the butt of a joke even if she was more or less. She was still trying to work out the orientation of the other girl.

Clearly Midnight had figured out that she was into girls ever since the 10 Second Man but her off men but she had yet to determine if the girl was trying to tempt her but ssay she was kidding or if there were something about her that just couldn't help but tease a little.

Rhaine supposed she was fine with it as long as she didn't take things too far. Of course she was curious but did not wish to ask in case she sounded too interested too. Then she suspected that the teasing would be worse regardless of the girl's actual orientation.

Rhaine shook her head but she was wearing a thin smile. “Alright you.”

Going back to the sobbing door the girls found that the key did not open the lock. It fit but did not turn it one way or the other.

"I... Really don't think we should go in there..." Midnight muttered through gritted teeth. "We can always get the metal from elsewhere..."

“It doesn't open the door anyway, it fits the lock though. Should we try at the end of the hall?” She glances to the door at the opposite end of the hall.

"The only place left, my little kawaii baka", Midnight drawls, although not in an unpleasant way.

She slowly inches towards the door, and, careful not to make too much noise, tries opening it. "Verdammt!" she hisses. "Locked". She brings up her right hand, where the knife she acquired earlier is held to the wrist by her watch. She slides it into the door lock, and twists, but to no avail.

She sighs. Points a hand at the lock. The components slowly slide, and the door swings open with a click. Midnight's lungs instantly fill with dust, and she doubles over, coughing. When her vision clears, she sees rows upon rows of shelves, and each shelf overflowing with books.

She giggles a little and follows to the door. She doubts that the key that they got would work on the lock but Midnight deals with this on and she is astonished to see the effects of magic first hand.

“Are you OK?” She rubs the other girl's back until the coughing fit passes. She wonders briefly why she didn't do this with the other door but reasons she had to have heard something behind it when checking it out earlier.

For some reason she did not want to go that way and Rhaine wonders if there is some magic that the other girl is feel to keep her clear.

“That was awesome!” Rhaine gushes before heading into this room. Books. She's only interested in the ones about mathematical formulas and theorems but she loos no the less.

On the right side of the room at the far end rests a large metallic door. “What sort of books I wonder. I can't read these ones, can you?”

"Yeah. The numbers going up the spines? That's binary. And it seems to be following the Dewey Decimal guides. As for the titles, my Latin's a little rusty. Do you have any idea what 'Crinis Monstra et Corporis tui' means?", Midnight handed a dusty, faded time to Rhaine.

“Not really, somethining monsters maybe and something you … toi is French for you and this is similar so it might be along the same lines. But binary, just a string of two numbers there so I haven't paid much attention to it.”

She considered for a moment. “So you think all these books are on similar topics?” She made a quick look over all the books present and wondered.

"Nah, the binary changes quite significantly throughout the shelves. Waht do you think this place is...?" Midnight wonders, flipping through a book with an... Interesting cover.
