“I don't know. I have a wild guess but you'll think it's crazy.” She thumbed through a book even though she could not read it she still browsed the pictures. Shuddered at an illustration, closed the book and put it back.

“My sane guess though is that there are probably a good portion of books on discipline given some of the rooms we saw and maybe some formulas for the lab we were just at.”

"And the insane one? I like crazy!" Midnight exclaims gleefully.

Rhaine paused as she considered. “OK, but if you laugh I'm leaving. I don't expect you to believe a word of it though. No teasing, alright?”

"I'm a dangerous sociopath who can levitate objects with her mind, do I look like I'll think you're crazy?".

She swished her jaw from side to side as she contemplated for a moment an organized he thoughts a little better. Fortunately her experiences were rather limited thus far. Only two. She was drunk on the beach when she met Dani and while she would have considered that a dream though last week she realized that it wasn't a dream when she was sent down her.

She would begin as best as best as she could. “Right. OK. My experiences have been rather limited and most girls don't have them, I guess it's a means of keeping people alienated but there are … things here that defy logic.

“I really can't explain it without sounding too crazy … forget, forget I said anything.” She looses her nerve, evidently not wishing to be deemed as crazy or thought that way or perhaps hearing her own words in her mind and just how crazy they sounded.

"C'mon, you can tell me", Midnight pressed. "What do you mean 'experiences'? Is it to do with those... Things...? The ones. Call me paranoid, but I've felt like I've been watched ever since I got here. Not by human eyes, but... Something else. Sometimes I heard whispering in the shadows. Chitinous scuttling through the walls. Sometimes a glimpse put the corner of my eye. Is it those?"

She goes wide eyed for a moment then relaxes. On the one hand she doesn't want to be labeled as crazy. Things were bad enough in class and afterward … she only spoke about such things to Dani … but on the other hand she might actually be believed or at least not the butt of a joke.

She nods. “I guess … I've only seen two of them, a triclops and some sort of slime creature that ...” she shuddered a little. “Anyway I was thinking that the books might be a detailed listing of these things. If they know a girl is afraid of spiders they can just call one of those in to deal with discipline … I got of easy I guess when I was hear, the creature got called away before too long and got replaced by one of the head girls."

"Well, then, good luck disciplining me! I'm not afraid of anything... Except... Well, there's some things I don't like to talk about", Midnight falters. Quickly changing the subject, she points to the door. "So what do you think's behind there?" She asks.

Rhaine was sort of new here herself and did not know how effective the staff could be. After her one time experience down her previously she did not wish to return.

Curious about these issues Rhaine knew enough to leave them alone. Like Mary and Pete … she rarely spoke of them and only after a few beers. So she lets it go and swings her gaze to the door as she approaches it.

“I don't know … it looks like it's reinforced too so it's probably something good. Just as I thought, locked.” She says as she tries to open the larger door. It was about ten feet tall comprising of thick iron reinforced with steel.

"I can't feel it. According to my magic, it's just a complete vacuum there. There's some kinda rune, I figure. If we can get that, we can open it." Midnight's gaze settles on a compartment with a lock on it next to the door. "Rhaine, do you still have that key?"

“Hm ...” She inspects the door though not attuned to anything like magic she does not have a feel for such this. “Yeah, right here ...”

She got the key back out from a hidden pocket sewn into her skirt. She tries it and it fits. Not just that it draws back the bolt of the door. Rhaine looked towards Midnight.

“What was that?”

"What was what?" Midnight asks, head tilted. "I can't sense anything, the seal is blocking my-" she stops. In the centre of the room there is a pattern drawn in chalk. It gives a family glow, which seems to be attached to the door. As soon as she knocks some chalk out of place, her powers seem to go back to normal. "And she hears a faint noise, almost like footsteps, slowly getting closer. "Helvete" she mutters.

Indeed their was a glyph here in chalk but it was more to keep something in rather than out. He wouldn't allow it to leave, not until he had finished with it. He had found it's weakness and had been exploiting it to get at Amelia to see if he could figure out her importance in the grand scheme of things.

“I thought I heard a whirling sound from behind the door.” Her eyes widen as she hears foot falls drawing near, alarmed. “Drat!”

She quickly scanned the rows of bookshelves looking for a place to hide.

Midnight levitates a book, and throws it to the other side of the room. The footsteps follow the noise of impact. For now. "I have a brilliant idea", Midnight whispers. "Let's get the hell out of here".

She doesn't wait for Rhaine to respond, just grabs her hand and runs for the door, dragging her along. When they reach the door, she slams it shut with a loud 'clang!'. "That'll hold it for a while", she gasps, breathless.
