“Indiana ...” I considered home, Japan may have seemed so exotic to her though there were no fond memories of the place. My mother had perished there and Kyo had been little more than a rotten drunk with a gambling problem. My best memories of the place had been leaving and it wasn't until I had arrived in China that I had a few good memories to draw upon.

“Japan is over rated. There's nothing good there,” I sigh and look into my coffee for a moment getting lost in distant memories as I fake a smile at last and take a sip. “I guess home is always boring regardless of how interesting it is to others. Now China, China was interesting. I lived there for a number of years and really didn't want to leave. I had managed to get a work visa after a tourist visa expired and will have to renew that before going back.”

Hopeful of that day I did not know what was going on. Had one of the creatures cross over from their dimension to my own? That seemed to be the case. If so how did we send it back, yes, we. It probably saw me and it was a surprise that I had managed to escape the night.

“You can't go back. Our pasts have brought us here and we have to make due with it. I suppose you can see about a transfer or dropping out entirely,” to me this was one separate incident as I did not realize how deeply this conspiracy went. That escape was effectively impossible.

“It's not your fault.” I mentioned as I drew another sip of the bitter beverage mixed with the sweetness of the cream. “It feels that way at first ...”

My own thoughts of those card games and what they so often lead to afterward and during … yeah, Japan wasn't a good place at all. “You'll realize that in time but I won't be able to convince you of that,you'll have to come to grips with that on your own.

“But this is different … it's the first time … the first that I've been aware of that any of them crossed over.”

She absently stared at Midori as she spoke, her pinkie dipping and swirling in the hot liquid unconsciously as thoughts fluttered through her busy mind. She could sense a kindred spirit as she heard her answers and knew that Midori had suffered a similar fate to her own in the past and survived. She had survived and she was here. Could she do the same she wondered?

I've thought of leaving. My family will make fun of my failure. They told me it was stupid to leave, that I would get married and help run a farm. I held up a hand to still her. “Pills will do little good. They'll make you numb for a time and you'll find that matters are only worse as you develop an addiction. From and early age I could see things as clearly as I could see my hand in front of my face.

“They were transparent and when I spoke of them to my late mother she looked at me as if I were crazy so I came to the quick conclusion that I had to keep it to myself but I'm guessing you won't question my sanity for mentioning it.

“As best as I have theorized these things live in a dimension that closely boarders our own and since I can see through them I know they are not here. Yet the one I saw last night … it was as solid as you or I and had to have crossed over some how.

“Now the why behind it is simple. There is little reason save for that you were there and crossed paths with it.” I paused letting all that sink in. “Besides … I have proof that it is real, I caught it on tape ...”

Would anyone believe it? Probably not. Then again there was the footage of Bigfoot that many did believe though I heard it was all a hoax. I never formed an opinion on that and the matter was bigger in the U.S. Ironically, China embraced the belief that there were Bigfoots or was the plural Bigfeet I wondered.

Terry looks at her as she speaks of inevitable death and seeing things. She might have considered the girl crazy too as she spoke of seeing things from alternate dimensions had she not been targeted for use by the horny demon. Now the thought never entered her mind even once.

I took the pills they gave me for a day. They just made me numb, emotionless, I felt like a zombie. Yet, it still came that night, so I flushed them down the toilet.

She sips her coffee some, the bitter warm scent and sugary taste comforting her. She continues listening. She just happened to be there to cross its path? She thought about that. She hadn't done anything to draw it to her, she hadn't been special. The thought comforted her a little and to her own shame she almost felt sad she wasn't special in someway to draw in attention. She quickly shook the thought away, dismissing it as stupid.

The demon had heard enough though. The confirmation was given. In a way Midori had been right. She was selected more by chance than anything in particular although she was refreshingly beautiful in her own way. Midori had saved the girl though she didn't know it yet. The creature took the visitor in anew and knew she would be the focus of his attentions going forward. He must get that tape back and he would be damned if he would stop at anything from getting it from her.

The questions came as I knew they would among the initial blush that she had pushed passed once the realization that her shame was being recorded. They came in a quick stream and I drew in a deep breath, held it for a moment and slowly let it out before I moved to answer.

“The truth of it? I didn't suspect what was going on. Who would? I had only thought that there were two lovers going at it. Every night the pattern continued. I heard what sounded like moans, they could be screams but I wasn't suspicious of it. I tried your door once but got no answer. Her suspicions remained as the black haired petite girl started her explanation. Now finding out about a means of getting the information out then reformatting the info we have via the computers shouldn't be tough, upload it … if we could get a cell phone we could just download it from the computer and send it out that way but I'll see what we have to work with.”

The demon listened as they talked. Slimer had an inordinate amount of patience, and while he considered ending the charade with confirmation that Midori had been the interloper into last evening's fun, he knew retrieving the recording was more important. So, silently he watched the two women enjoy their coffee, one his current plaything, the other his next target.

I fell silent unable to shake the thoughts of those card games immediately even though I was several years removed from them now.

“At the very least there should be an outside investigation that should open up a doorway off this island. If approached then with a desire to leave I doubt that it would be ignored then.” I was thinking this through hearing about sexual misconduct in the U.S military and how they kept a lid on things made me a little paranoid in that I thoroughly looked over all the possibilities before me for the best results.

The demon listened to the two hoping to determine the exact location of the recording, yet he was not so lucky. He did learn of Midori's intentions though which was a small boon. A copy, obviously he couldn't let that happen, yet he learned one had not already yet been made. Sticking to Midori seemed the best option to determine the location of the hidden tape. Should she avoid it he determined he would have to drag it out of her or worse comes to worse simply force her to hand it over via his rarely used mind control. He preferred the students knowing exactly what was happening to them and giving them as much free will as possible while violating them as it added to the fun knowing they had chosen to do what they did, but this situation may warrant an exception to that preference.

As he listened to Terry he almost smiled. Thoughts of hurting the students or killing them rarely entered his thoughts as it violated rules which could see him losing access to this paradise and it was simply barbaric. These beautiful human women were toys meant for his pleasure and eliminating them was simply beyond all reproach in his mind.

While being limited to the school's intranet would prove troublesome for the girls, having that video passed among the students simply would not do. Perhaps they may find a way to get the video out, they certainly were resourceful. Things were in hand at the moment and he preferred to keep it that way. He waited for Midori to leave before invisibly trailing after her, his new mark determined, ready to find and destroy her meddling tape.

You're right again I haven't heard of anyone dying tragically or not. That makes me feel a little better. I'll ask around for sure. I think I heard rumors of a senor student with some contraband, maybe she might help? I'll find out. Please be careful Midori, I would hate to have something happen to you. I know it sounds selfish, but you've been the only one to believe me and if I lost even that it would be terrible. She took a gulp finishing the last of her coffee before escorting Midori out. When she left, she eagerly locked the door, hope fading that she was on her path to unmolested nights, yet oddly enough she was destined for just that, at least until she graduated.

I could not promise that nothing was going to happen to me though seeing that this was an unknown situation though unless I as killed then the belief in such matters would remain. I was pretty sure that if anything was going to happen to me it would have been last night though I was still alive and that was saying something. Perhaps that creature did not know where I ran off too. It was dark so when that closet opened perhaps he had not seen all the details that made up my visage.

I shot her a brief smile though. “We don't know who will and won't believe us so mum's the word as far as last night goes and if you ever need to talk I'm just downstairs. It's not much but it's the best I can offer right now,” other than attempting to get that tape out there. Hopefully it would generate some curiosity and be looked into.

Departing though I went back to my dorm room. Glancing at my watch I had a few hours before my first class but was ready now. Debating on what to do I pondered making that copy as I collected the cam coder figuring that I could return it to the visual arts department. My use of it complete though the interview I had filmed for my assignment had been on that same disc I needed to make a copy of.

The demon listened to their parting exchange and set off invisibly after his target. She had been all to right, the shock at finding another student in the room not only watching but recording the session had been enough to get her out and to her room without him able to follow just in time. That all came to an end though with their meeting. Not only did he find out where she stayed, the room directly below, but that one copy of the prior evenings rape existed. Dismissing it I went into the bedroom after setting the cam coder down on the bed I knelt before the dresser pulling out the bottom draw and fishing out the jewel case that contained the evidence. I had the time might as well make that copy now ...

Slimer waited camouflaged in this girls room. It seemed ordinary enough compared to the ones he had been fortunate enough to visit in the past. It wasn't too long before his patient surveillance was rewarded. Yet as she handled the device and flipped it on, it was apparent that no disc was inside. Frustrated he held onto his patience and decided to continue watching. It wasn't long however before she led him to exactly what he sought.

The bedroom was the same as most but as she knelt before a dresser he watched and wondered. From the drawer she retrieved what appeared to be a small plastic case. The demon unfamiliar with DVD jeweled cases simply wondered what it was. He watched and waited wondering what the strange flat square was, but decided he would find out soon enough. Eventually, he knew she would lead him to the recording and then she would pay for her unwanted spying.

I had the disc and cam coder and thus slid the draw back into place before leaving the room after another yawn. Damn getting up so early but I needed to catch Teresa before she went off to classes in the event that she was a morning riser like some of the other students here. I had not been among them and spent some time packing up the cam coder and the jeweled case before heading off to the Visual Arts department.

“Midori, your up early.”

“Not by choice, professor,” I dug out the cam coder and returned it to Professor Chalmer. “I need to edit some of the footage I shot for the project and was hoping that since I was up and there are no morning classes today that I'd get a start on it. Can I use the computers in the lab.”

The old man smiled at me, I did not know if it were lecherous or not but I had a habit of seeing things in a lecherous light.
