Typhoon was selected having the least combat experience. Flame had her time with Roc and if she had been selected there was probably going to be a huge distraction.

Typhoon, she knew, had some experience with commanding bandits. Gale had experience as a ruler of her people. Between the two Gale probably had less actual combat experience but against foe of higher quality not wasting her time with lesser issues.

Abdul would be assisting them instead of their last Elemental Master. It was even decided that two teams worked beast, scouting out the shrine first to see what they were up against. Roc and Gale had means of doing scout work that had been easier provided they could use their magic. Without it their best option was hard to determine. Gale as Fae had training in wilderness settings and Abdul was accomplished though anything that hindered magic would mean that he would be going about in his true form.

Teams and these issues had been open to discussion. They had no idea if Stratos was successful yet or not or what had been up with Spencer. But once they had worked out these details Nicodemus now had the power to whisk them all to the area that they would use as a campsite and makeshift headquarters, clearly he had already gotten back a great deal of power. No Shadow Walking but teleportation. Magic that had been powerful when just transporting yourself needless to say a small group.

If they could use their magic the choices became a bit more obvious, but overall the groups remained the same in case the fiery woman had any say in the matter. Then again, lacking expertise in these fields had her listen to the others far more than actually finding the wisdom within herself to suggest anything beyond their own take on the matter.

Scouting could be done by Roc and Gale, but Flame never spent much time with the latter and knew next to nothing about her abilities in that regard. Summoning elementals had been a plus, however, and that’s where her dwarven companion could score quite well. In the end she had but a vote to offer in favor of certain decisions and left the burden to the others. Such choices were difficult for her to make as the whole scenario depended more on tactics and maneuvers than anything else and the young sorceress hadn’t been part of either in the past.

She was more of a powerhouse like Abdul with a whole let less experience in life, but didn’t let uncertainty distract her from the ultimate goal of their journey. Stratos and Spencer weren’t heard of in some time, but the had to take their chances regardless. They had the best plan they could get and were transported to an area near the Blue Shrine in due time.

Nicodemus became more powerful, that much was obvious. Flame wanted him to be back to full power, to best Tori with everything he had on offer, but there was no telling how far along in his recovery he truly was. She had to make an educated guess every now and then. At least he proved to be a lot more powerful than he was when they first met back at the prison.

Flame figured she and Abdul made a most suitable team whenever the others were busy on their own. Though Abdul would likely be the stronger choice unless the Fire Serpent ever came into play. In the end things were set up. It was only a matter of time until they were going to be put in motion.

Gale and Roc had a racial anonymity too she recalled. While it seemed strongest with Gale Roc probably felt the same way but had been better at hiding it. In the end though Flame and Abdul would do the necessary scouting and the pair would remain at the camp until they reported back in. Typhoon would b there and since they had the time and he had gathered the power Nicodemus could check into Stratos process and see if anything could be discovered with Spencer. Since he could cover vast distances he would probably be back prior to them.

It had been among some of her restored memories that teleporting to an exact location that you had never been had been quite advanced. Some could even teleport to a particular person provided that they were not immersed in a magic null zone or warded by magic that obscured their location. The person had to be at least familiar to you. Either famous or someone you've actually meet in the past.

Still a distance from the shrine Abdul stopped and had her gather some wood. He had not explained unless asked though it was clear that he was building a campfire. “Do I need to explain what I am doing Child?” It seemed as if he had been about to impart some knowledge into her. Oddly it seemed familiar too … even before Stratos assisted her with recovering her latest memories … yes, that was the one about her mother …

Abdul explained it if she didn't come up with the answer though he gave her time to answer. “Your Flame Serpent would work too ...”

The groups were assigned and Flame accompanied Abdul while her thoughts came to drift amid common concerns. She couldn’t ignore the fear of losing Nick, or anyone else for that matter. Their entire undertaking had been quite risky, but at least Abdul gave her a feeling of security. He’d be hard pressed to miss potential dangers when his daughter did and his experience helped establish that notion, too.

Ultimately Flame didn’t come up with much of an answer, but decided to light the campfire with a few elaborate movements that weaved the flames in her hands when he added his final comment. The wood had been set ablaze in no time. It crackled among the dancing crimson fire while the young sorceress gazed deep inside, letting her thoughts wander for a moment. There was no explaination for why he chose to impart that knowledge which certainly got her wondering.

“What are you trying to tell me?” Scarlet red eyes flickered up to look up to the towering Efreeti which loomed above her smaller human form. His timing had to be the greater reason as to why Flame had been rather caught of guard by receiving hints about her mother. She still carried the vial from Cain’s place, a memory which showed how Abdul and Chloe met for the first time. Maybe it had something to do with that, but the girl wasn’t too sure.

It did. He had noted the wandering thoughts as they had been getting closer to the shrine and Tori. What issues had been there he could not say for certain. He crouched by the fire warming his hands first.

“Watch.” He stuck his hand in, moved his arm about and she saw that there was no look of discomfort or pain there. He drew his hand out and seemed a little disappointed but his arm and hand had been unscathed. Of course as an Efreeti she expected immunity or resistance to flames.

“I can move through flames. At least those on the same Shadow. There are some limitations though. I have to have seen the place before and while I do not have to travel alone others tend to get a rather warm reception from the fire. So unless they are immune or resistant in some way then the trip could be fatal.

“Any fire can be used. Even the Flame Serpent. There were a few times were no other source of Flame had been on hand or just too far away. Move through it then summon it to the new location. Provided that I've been there and there is a fire of some sort.

“I am going to teach you a trick. Eventually I will teach you how to move through these flames on your own but your origins prevent flame from harming you. In the past you didn't think that you were no different than any other human. Your mind limited you, made you believe that fire would burn. You know about your origins. The fire elemental bond within you protects you, simply know that the fire cannot harm you and it won't.” He smiled then looked to her.

From her ordeals he had to reason or guess fairly well what she had uncovered thus far. Or perhaps he was keeping close tabs on her, her duress could summon him and perhaps he felt her joy each time she experienced a new memory as well.

“In the meantime I will teach you a trick. You can send the Flame Serpent to an area or leave it some place then if you get into a jam you can always move to it as a means of escape.” He spent a moment, conjured a small fire elemental to mind the fire. He could then place the gathered wood into the fire pit and watched as the elemental followed his commands causing the flames to keep clear of the wood until it was need to keep the fire going.

“If we run into trouble we can escape here. In case anyone tracks us we won't lead them directly back to the camp.” He had gathered that anyone that managed to get the best of Nicodemus had to be either powerful or crafty. In any event he wasn't taking any chances.

After explaining this it was on to the Blue Shrine. It was tough to approach being that it sat atop a hill and the forest ended at the foot of it. A road split the forest in half going up to the shrine itself. But nothing hampered magic, at least thus far. Abdul had a great number of spells though he had an affinity with fire he was able to make them invisible.

What they discovered was that there were goblins here along with a few ogres. It was tough getting a head count but there was at least fifty of them but less then a hundred. About ten percent of their number were ogres. There was that human too from her memories … Tori's kid …

Tori may have been in the shrine and who knew what else. They had to pass through a gate, which was opened. The shrine defended by walls and the plethora of goblins and ogres encamped on the grounds. It hadn't seemed that they were alert. Most of the goblins were asleep too so she had to estimate numbers by the amount of tents she saw and how many goblins each could hold. Few seemed large enough to contain ogres so even if she had been wrong plus or minus a few dozen goblins rarely mattered.

What she didn't see were any other heavy hitters like Efreeti though they could be in the shrine itself. No one guarded the shrine though she had to avoid a half asleep goblin that nearly stumbled into her. Given what she saw thus far only the human seemed to be a problem because she wasn't aware what, if anything he could do. She did recall that when she met him that he thought that she could dispatch him.

Shame Flame had the knowledge but no time to practice Abdul’s latest teachings for the trick would definitely come in handy at some point in her eternal lifetime although the young woman had hoped today would not be the day for her to try it on the fly.

As they approached the shrine the very terrain surrounding it wasn’t all that much in their favor. Flame hadn’t know what they were up against until now. She feared the very approach on the Blue Shrine would be beyond difficult with it being positioned on top of a hill and the forest ended at the most inconvenient spots.

Yet on the outside things were beyond clear. She noted the usual. A high amount of goblins and ogres. Judging by their demeanor they were unaware of them or didn’t expect company. Flame alone dealt with numerous goblins and ogres before, at least without a suppression collar strapped around her neck and they’d be more than enough powerful elementalists to tear down the entire frontline when they chose to attack. It didn’t appear anything hampered magic in the area, but there may be more hostiles within the shrine itself which had her a bit concerned about the unknown.

Among the crowd Flame recognized a familiar face. She’d encountered him not more than a few weeks before they moved on the Blue Shrine and nothing in this world could’ve made her forget about Tori’s son, but that was more about the way he handled having her nearby. Surprisingly enough he didn’t treat her with any semblance of cruelty. She wasn’t thrown to the hordes of goblins and ogres that roamed the camp like many other women who were with them at the time, but then again she cooperated fully out of fear other innocent lives were going to be taken away on a renewed search for the young sorceress.

Without oil soiling her skin he could’ve been destroyed. Even he seemed to realize that much, but whether that was the truth Flame never had the chance to find out. After all he kept the camp in check and that wouldn’t be likely if he didn’t have the power to do so. Then again, sometimes the illusion of power was good enough for some. Sadly he was an unknown in the equation and she thought it highly unlikely they were going to be able to ascertain the extent of his powers for sure.

She had to pace herself in order not to do anything foolish. There was nothing too powerful here and while they had the numbers they didn’t look all that prepared for a sudden attack. Had they placed any lookouts near the area Abdul and his daughter hadn’t encountered any save for the one Flame nearly bumped into. Still, she had to remind herself what they were.

A Scouting party. That’s all they were. It’d be best to get an accurate reading of all the creatures that were here although plenty of variables remained. Was Tori already here? Did she have any Efreeti guarding the inside? Could Flame make it into the shrine without being detected? It’d offer the most valuable insights as to how much they were going to be dealing with here, but Flame doubted she’d make it.

In the next few moments Flame moved up to Abdul and relayed what she knew about Tori’s son. Where she met him, what he was doing at the time, anything that came to mind. It certainly wasn’t all that much, but maybe enough to give him a better grasp of his position here. Ultimately they had time to estimate what they’d be up against out here and thus far no one detected them. “What do you propose? Should we head back?”
