Post Re: Resentment (for Olivia and Birch)
By the time Olivia had returned, her staff had not only finished unloading her definitely excessive luggage, but they'd also had enough sitting around impatiently for them to begin unpacking and arranging Olivia's things in her new room, unprompted and unguided, putting books on shelves and setting up computers at desks, getting everything set up for her, with the exception of some of her personal effects, that were labelled quite adamantly as 'private'. Of course, some of them, mostly just the hired help for the move, wanted to just take off, but some of them were people she'd known for quite some time, servants that'd practically raised her, in place of her frequently absent parents.

Unfortunately, she was gone a long time, and whilst they wanted to say goodbye to her again, they really needed to get going and couldn't wait around for her forever. In fairness, they'd been plenty of proper farewells and kind regards at the plane, and a final, brief adieu wasn't strictly necessary. Still, it would have been nice to have parted with clearer acknowledgement, but if Olivia was just going to take off like that... It'd been no secret how enthusiastic the young miss had been about coming here, and if she wanted to just jump into the 'action' like that... well, they supposed they could perhaps forgive her forgetting her like that, though it didn't seem particularly gracious or grateful of her to have done so.

Having other things to worry about, Olivia wouldn't mind too much that her possessions had been unpacked and arranged in her room without her, though it wouldn't escape her attention the fact that she'd effectively left her people to themselves, leaving them without so much as a goodbye, not that she'd actually intended to be gone that long. In the end though, it was fortunate that her equipment was already all set up ready for her, though she would quickly see to it that she had a shower and a brief change of clothes first. Reviewing the footage that'd been captured, she'd be shocked. Of course, she'd just witnessed it all herself, but something about seeing it all played back, hearing her own voice this time... it was...

She'd find herself snapping shut the screen of her laptop, unable to watch all of it. Part of her had not expected what she'd seen and experienced to be real, though she was grateful now that she'd elected to wear headphones. How was all this possible? Was she still hallucinating? She'd have thought the experience over by the time she'd gotten back to her room. No, this seemed... real. But how could it be? Whatever the case, it would appear that Olivia had questions about this island that needed to be answered, though it was obvious she wouldn't get them all today.

After a moment's hesitation or two, she'd force herself to look back at the footage. Of course, even without the parts involving that strange monster, only using the first half of the recording, she'd have enough at her disposal to prove misconduct on the part of Etolie. Having been tied up and assaulted like that, her 'tour guide' hadn't just broken school rules, but laws. Obviously Olivia needed to report it... but... Skipping back and forth over the video, Olivia would find herself both blushing and recoiling in revulsion as she saw herself, so shamefully defiled and... No... She couldn't, she just couldn't... It...

Locking the video file away now, in the deepest recesses of her computer's memory, being sure to encrypt and secure the data so that nobody could ever see it, she could not find herself able to either delete or share that piece of evidence. Instead, closing the laptop, she pointlessly slid the terrible device as far away from her as possible, as if it had some sort of sickening aura around it and, turning her wheelchair and climbing out of it, she got onto her bed. Thoughts turning inwards, Olivia would try to bury it all down. The horror, the indignity of what she'd experienced, she just couldn't face it and, until a member of the island's faculty came by to say hello, making introductions, kindly welcoming her to Shokushu, Olivia would instead sit there, curled up, rocking gently back and forth as the trauma replayed again and again in her mind, no longer needing the assistance of her computer and the video playback.

Post Re: Resentment (for Olivia and Birch)
The file was thought to be locked away but things were never safe here at Shokushu. If she ever did search for that file again she would find that it remained, that she wasn't crazy, at least up until the point where Etolie fled the scene. Everything else was gone. No evidence of these monsters ever remained and while it may have been easier to remove the entire file instead of just part of it the first part was not their concern.

At her own expense she could have used that as evidence. Further it had been left as a means to taunt her into second guessing what had happened along with pointing her towards someone else that knew a thing or two about the island. The powers that were didn't care if the victims shared stories with themselves or the majority of others that were not targeted. No proof meant that absurd stories would be ignored or someone else would fall victim when looking into something often leading them to resent the one that dragged them into things in the first place.

There was lots of selection but few that were selected in the long run. Victims were meant to feel alone unless they found other victims. Whether Etolie knew something or not had been another matter but she implied knowledge and took off straight away before that thing arrived on the scene, whatever Birch was.

The matter would be hard to discuss openly with other students. It wasn't as if she could make an announcement about rapist plants and if anyone came across them.

The scene of the crime too had been cleaned up, not that there was much destruction left behind in this case. The nanites were wonderful in healing wounds and building back up an area in short order. If she really wanted answers Etolie wasn't the only one to give them to her. There was Birch, if he wasn't real, if this was all some hallucination as she had initially believed prior to watching that recording she could seek him out and if he didn't exist she wouldn't find him or this Slarr character he mentioned.

After finding that he had been scrubbed from the recording it would give her a reason to doubt things once again, that was if she ever did look back upon it.
