“Lasers?” I could have used offensive gifts when dealing with Kyo and his friends. Then again if I had them I'd probably be locked up somewhere. “Do you know why your abilities stagnated? Have you looked for gifted girls here? I don't really pay much attention to the realm of magic but I know someone that could help. She can control water and such.”

“I don’t know how my powers stopped.”

I pondered what she said for a moment. “When did you loose them?”

It occurs to me that there could have been a curse involved since she mentioned wizards. Or it could be something unrelated too. In any case she could get some help. “Maybe some of the girls here can try to reawaken them.” Or remove the curse if that was the case.

“Yeah, a curse.”

I take that in. My knowledge about magic is very limited. Little more than I saw in movies or in pop culture. Still, there were common themes with curses in media whether a movie or literature.

“Then it can be removed. I'm sure one of the girls here has to be stronger than the one that cursed you. Have you looked into it? Interested in getting it removed?”

I wrack my brain searching out names that could point her in the right direction. I can ask Lilly about it, she'd have more connections in that regard or maybe I could introduce Sayaka to her and they could discuss the sorts of things I wasn't too familiar with.

“Yes...but.”

I raise my eyebrow at her. “But what? Don't you want them back or not?”

Perhaps not I conclude never having to face wizards and other supernatural forces save for what I've encountered here on the island and let's face it I didn't fight back against them, where would one begin? They seemed far too powerful for my physical condition and with my scoliosis even running was out.

“I want them back, but...”

“But what?” I ask uncertain if there was any sort of reason or stipulation on her getting her powers back. It sounded like she wanted them back although I doubt there would be wizards here to face they'd be useful against the Mushi that cross over.

“But it may not be possible.”

I give her a little nod. “True, but you might get them back too. No harm in trying. I know someone with some minor ability that should be able to connect you with the right people if she can't do anything for you.”

I scribble down a note to myself as a reminder to talk with Lilly the next time I see her.

“Yeah, I do have some minor powers left.”

“Which ones?” I ask as I sit up a little straighter. Flashing a smile at the professor who looks our way then continues on not even realizing that we're not discussing assignments.

“So that's proof the curse can be lifted. They might return in time without you even having to do anything.”

“Yeah! Gotta go, bye!” She walks away.
