Violett nodded a little, then shook her head.

"I don't want to win fights, whether I start them or not. I want to be able to get away before I get hurt. If I was defending someone else, it'd be different... But until I can get out of a locker on my own I should work on one thing at a time, right?"

"Well, let's get on with this. I don't mind skipping class if you don't," she casually puts before begginning her way to her dorm room.

"I think my room would be a safe bet to go if you don't mind..."

Violett nodded, taking her place a few steps behind Clarice.

"Wherever you want is fine with me, Miss Clarice... Lead on whenever you're ready."

"Gladly," she puts simply before they make to her dorm room. She unlocks it with ease and presses onward, looking back to see if she was following her inside.

The instant the door was open, Violett's eyes fell on an adorab;e little plush dragon with several heads.

Naturally, she made a beeline for the teddy hydra, emitting a playful SQUEE! as she wrapped her arms around it.

She merely chuckles as the young girl plays her part of being small so well. She picks out her hydra it seems and starts to cuddle it. She gives a small 'hm' before sitting fown on her bed. She peers up to the girl with a smile.

"I see you like my little plushies, hm?"

Violett nodded cheerfully, kissing the soft, cuddly toy on its heads.

"They're so CYUTE! Where'd you get them? You've GOTTA tell me! Please?"

"One's from my mom, the other is from a friend who didn't want it. I'm sorry, but I don't know where they were made or bought," she answers with a nervous laugh.

Vuilett set the plushies down as if suddenly afraid they were going to break. Suddenly bolting upright, she looked over at Clarise. "You... Must have had them for a long time."

Clearing her throat, she changed the subject. "A... Anyways..... I wanna protect myself... But... Not at the cost of hurting someone else.... Even the things here... They're living, breathing creatures... I think some of them only do... you know... what they do... because they have to..."

Looking away, Violett sighed. "Kinda like people, really. In a bad enough situation, there's no line they won't cross..."

"And if you say was true, there would be no law or rules. People should have restraint, Violett," she states as a matter of fact. Her eyes sfoten as she sets down her toys, "its okay if you want to hold them. They haven't been through much so if someone were to play with them they'd be more then tough enough. Anyways when your ready we can try to begin..."

She stands from her seat and peers to her friend, waiting for an answer.

Violett nodded, standing. "Just... Keep track of me, okay? I'm... worried that power might change me. Make sure I don't wind up being dangerous, 'k?"

"As I had said before, don't expect much luck. It takes years to even cause much of anything even if you have the gift. But the only way to know is to try. If you do get out of hand I'm right here incase it does become too much for you to control. But let's just...focus on getting anything.

Alright...focus on something you like to do. Magic is intune with your likings such as archery or swimming or even fighting. You'll have to figure out where you stand in such cases by yourself. Just concentrate on what you want to do and we'll work from there."

It was a good start to say the least, but Clarice was unsure of whether or not Violett could pull off much of anything or enough to blow herself away. First steps were always well...a pain in the ass.

Violett pondered, biting her lip.

"What I want to do...?"

She blushed, then trembled...

"I... I want to be able to disappear when things get scary... or embarassing...or..."

She closed her eyes, holding her hands clasped together over her heart, and tried to pretend she wasn't there.

She didn't feel very different.

"... Or when my friend has to see how useless I am," she sighed. Her eyes remained closed, and the surge of embarassment brought a sudden warmth to her cheeks as she dropped to her knees.

"I'm sorry."

"Jeez, I didn't expect you to get anything on the first try you know," she puts firmly, grummbling slightly of the girl's lack of patience.

"How about concentrating more on one thing. I don't want to hear you talk about how useless or whatever you feel. You need to focus completely right now."

Violett nodded, closing her eyes. She started to open her mouth, but quickly forced it shut.


She put together a picture of the room in her mind's eye, then focused on herself, trying to think of herself as unseen. She tried to imagine her legs the color of the carpet, her hair blending in somehow with the sheets of the bed... But it was hard... So hard, and so pointless... The Violett in her head kept changing colors back, until finally her brain refused to see itself as any color but purple, tinting VIolett's self-image the same color as the flower she was named for.

She failed, and she knew it... But she was too nervous to admit it to Clarice. She kept her eyes closed, focussed intently on staying in position and not letting her eyes blink open, hoping her failure wasn't obvious.
