Post Re: Relaxing Afternoon (For Clarice)
Claire sighs to herself as she nears the library, fully intent on getting a bit of alone minutes for the day. It had been hard to find another book that could even be as benefitting as the one she had given kanoe for ehr birthday. But it of course wasn't her faultor her own. It was just difficult. Perhaps she would ask Keemari somewhere in the future if he had any knowledge of a book that would be worth her time reading. Oh well, skipping her classes allowed her some time to herself.

Upon entering the section of which she would hide from the small society her class mates made up, she noticed there were few people inside. With the exception of the librarian it seemed extremely quiet. It nerved her somewhat to be alone, although she was hoping for it. She hadn't been attacked in the library...yet. That proved some comfort.

Turning a corner she comes across a girl sitting in a chair. Apparently she too was skipping class or had a free period. Either way didn't matter much to her. She wasn't really interested in starting a conversation either. Taking a seat that was two chairs away from the other woman, she picked up a book that had been carelessly left without being put back and skimmed through the pages.

Looking up, Kori saw Clarice sitting in another chair, she wondered if she should talk to her, thinking how she would react to the 'new girl', since she heard that the 'new girl' tends to get picked on. Kori bites her knuckle anxiously without realizing that she's staring at Clarice.

"Staring is somewhat rude. If you happen to need to say something, I may overlook that," she says loud enough for her to hear. She didn't even look up from her reading. Just the feeling of eyes on her and the fact she could see the other girl's emotions made her attitude sour. She probably shouldn't be so crude, but she never really liked it when people just stared at her like she was a freak. She shuts the book finally before peering up to the woman with a halfway attentitive expression.

"Don't expect anything to change while you look over here."

She wondered if this was the new girl she had heard of. It brought back memories of her own. The first time she met Kanoe, the first time they...

She blinks away the thoughts. This was no time for remanescing. This was totally different since they weren't even in a classroom or with a deranged teacher right now. This girl just happened to appear very rude to her for just looking at her with big eyes.

"Its alright..." was all she said before looking back down to her book. She wondered if this student would try and speak with her. She would halfway mind, but it was hard to resist company while she read alone in the library. It always seemed to bring about her social personality. of course with how she reacted moments ago the girl would disagree with her.

It wasn't her fault, though. Had she been staring at her in a classroom she might've used a spell o blow up something near her to frighten her away. She sighs at the thought and glances up again to the blushing student.

"I'm assuming your the newist girl here at Shokushu..."

Kori looks back up, "As far as I know.. many people seem to be avoiding me..." She shifts nervously while fidgeting. "So... how long have you been here..?" Kori knew that her social skills were not exactly the best, but she would try, she needed to make at least one friend here to make it bearable for her.

"People tend to avoid eachother here. Its not just you," she states softly, peering to the girl with a raised brow. The fidgeting was not needed, but if it help her to keep herself together then by all means.

True enough people did avoid eachother because of sensetive subjects. She wondered if this girl had been attacked by monsters yet. By the way she sounded, it was a no. Which mean the moment she's alone a monster that would want an innocent virgin would come running. She pities the girl for what she's about to find out. Even if she did try to warn her, she probably wouldn't believe her. She knew she wouldn't believe it if she came to the island as if for the first time.

"I've been here quite a few months. Nothing special really," she answers her question with a dull tone, placing the book aside to fully focus her attention on the girl. She seemed desperate for someone to talk to. Although she didn't volunteer, this would be better then reading a book about animal behavior.

"Uhm.. I'm sorry to move to this subject, but... what's with.. the monsters here..?" Kori shifts nervously as she looks almost embarrassed to ask a silly question such as that.

She blinks confusedly. She thought the girl had no diea of the monsters on the island, apparently she was wrong. Even more so, she hated discussing such subjects. She almost wished she hadn't spoken to the girl now. But to leave ehr question hanging in the air was rude. How to answer her was difficult...

"I don't what you mean by that. They come, they ravage, they leave. I don't know why they do it, they just do,"
she replies, cold to the subject it had been changed to. She turns her head forward and allows her eyes to drift close. A soft sigh escapes her lips, the daunting thought of rapings and mental abuse was more then enough to put her in an aggravated disposition. Just thinking of how she was always bending to their will had already ignited ehr short fuse.

How long she could last without blowing something up was a mystery. Or someone if she got mad enough...

Kori sees Clarice's expression at the subject and looks at her apologetically. "I'm sorry for going to that subject.. I don't have great social skills... but you could figure that.." She looks down and blushes slightly at her own stupidity.

"Its not my place to judge you on your social skills."

She blinks slowly at the woman as she blushes again. If she didn't know any better, she would say this girl was a babbling teen who desperatly seeked company. Of course she wouldn't say such things to the girl, though. That probably wouldn't help the new girl's attempt at 'breaking the ice' with her. It was slightly flattering to watch the girl attempt at becoming friends with her. Not that she would mind, she needed to socialize more anyways.

"I still haven't heard what your name is..."

Kori relaxes slightly, "My name is Kori, and your's" She has more confidence in her voice, as if she just decided to swallow her nervousness and get on with it.

"...Clarice..." she replies hesitantly, but allows her to know her name. Kori seemed to swlalow her nervousness for the time being. Good, then maybe she could actually keep a conversation and stutter around.

She did slightly wonder how long their conversation had gone on for. Not that she cared really, she was skipping class after all.

"So, do you have a free class now, or are you skipping.. you don't have to say if you don't want to though." Kori smiles a bit, probably the first time she's smiled in a long time.
