Mille's head nodded in time to her music as she wandered around the building randomly. She had no agenda. Classes were out for the weekend and she was bored enough to walk around, but it was too hot to go running outside, and being the energetic soul she was, Mille just couldn't sit still. Her video games just weren't cutting it for entertainment today.

Black cargo shorts shifted with her hips while she walked, and a white button up shirt, open in front and worn over a black sleeveless top, fluttered with each step. Her green eyes wandered as much as the rest of her, taking in the view outside of sunlit campus grounds, streamers fluttering in the vents, doubtless forgotten from some party long ago. Or, for all she knew, not long ago. The standard dark gray carpet, found everywhere in the school it seemed, kept her black velcro sneakers from making any noise with her steps. Normally, the noises of about ten thousand other students would have done that, with or without the carpet, but for some reason, the area seemed empty today. Maybe because of the heat most of the others had gone to the pool or the beach, depending on where they liked to swim. Or they were calmly lying in their beds, slowly becoming little steam clouds as they waited for their air-conditioning units to kick in.

Well, all but one other, it seemed, who was sitting at a table, looking down rather intently at a screen. A girl with green hair and an expression of intense concentration on her face for whatever she was doing. Curiosity got ahold of Mille, and she wandered on over, sitting on the back of a chair behind the girl. It didn't occur to her to introduce herself. Her attention was divided between whatever the girl was doing and her own music, so she simply quirked her head to one side and sat silently, looking over the other student's shoulder.

I hadn't noticed the girl standing behind me as I worked the computer which had no keyboard or mouse attached to it. My fingers just seemed to type in mid air the cursor moving by itself as various layers of binary flew across the screen before me. What is was was anyone's guess let alone how I was typing it. I was just programing a little virus for whatever I could possibly need it for, A simple multi-layer algorythmn really. My complex stuff was kept secret under lock and key in my head. I finished the last line of coding and nodded to myself.

"That should be good enough nothing else I can do with something that weak. Should be able to get a little free stuff from the vending machines with this little code."

I attached my own little custom made disk into the drive with my adator , the drive was meant to fit into cash slots commonly used and force the readers to register actual money they spit out the card.

I turned in my seat to see a student that had been standing behind me. I just blinked slightly looking her over scratching my cheek slightly I pondered how much she'd seen or understood of what I had done here.

"Uhm, Hi..."

Whatever the girl was up to, she was very good at it. Lines and lines of numbers and things flowed across the screen in a river of data. The speed with which she typed was incredible...if you could call it typing. It didn't even look like her fingers were touching...well, anything. "Woah...talk about good memory...i can't even find the spacebar half the time." Mille muttered to herself. The code suddenly stopped flowing. Computer programmer's block, maybe? Then she caught on and realized that she must have been finished with whatever she was doing.

Mille looked over...and found herself staring into a pair of pretty green eyes that blinked at her. The girl's lips moved, saying something that Mille couldn't hear over her music. Mille blinked back at the girl. Then realized that she'd been standing there without announcing herself, which brought a bit of pink to her cheeks. Then, the realization that the girl might not have wanted an audience for whatever it was she'd been doing turned them even more pink. She took out one of her earphones, her music pounding out of it now. "Oh...hi! Sorry, didn't mean to snoop, but it looked...well, that is...ummm..." She floundered for a moment longer, looking for some way to make it seem less like she was snooping and more like she just got caught up in the flow of numbers across the screen. Giving up on that idea, she took a deep breath, let it out, then looked the girl in the eye with a sunny smile. "Hi. My name's Mille. Nice to meet you."

I snapped my fingers and the computer shut down simply and I looked over the girl a little. She had green eyes like I did. I wondered how long she'd been watching me still even as she introduced herself to me. She didn't seem as computer savy as myself So my guard dropped slightly a hand shifting to my chin seeking a way to respond without seeming like a complete braggart.

"Rose Shark but, my friends call me Bently, enermies call me nerd, tech-freak, or technophile... kind of hope you'll end up calling me Bently though."

I offered standing from my chair and returning it to it's place under the table. It was around then I noticed the airconditioning was off. Quite uncomfortable in here really. I sighed looking at a thermostat and traced my hand in the air; the temp droped and the airconditioning turned on quickly. I was glad I could do such a thing as long as part of the control was near by.

"So what may I ask were you doing around here? no one else seemed interested in this room today."

"Bentley it is then." She didn't seem to particularly irritated, and there was a hidden offer of friendship in her remark that Mille was only too happy to take up. "Well, I already told you my name. So far as I know, that's what everyone calls me, friend or not. I feel the same as you though, hoping you'll say it as a friend." Mille smiled again.

Her eyes shot wide open as the A/C kicked on when Bentley waved her hand. Had she really just turned on the air conditioning from across the room? No way, the timer or whatever system it was on must have kicked in...or maybe she was psychic? Mille'd heard of girls who could do things like that. "Me? I was bored. It's the weekend and it's too hot to do anything outside, but I've got too much energy to sit still in my room, so I went wandering. I didn't really plan on coming here, but I saw you sitting there, and you looked so intense, so I got curious and came over to say hi." She chuckled. "Of course, I forgot to say hi, but it worked out rather well anyway, I'd say. Introductions have been made." She looked down at the computer curiously. "Oh yeah. And what were you working on there, anyway? If you don't mind me asking, I mean. It looked like you were talking to yourself for a second, but with my earphones in I couldn't hear you...something fun?"

I shrugged pulling that small drive out of my pocket offering Mille a glance at it.

"Just a teeny override for the vending macines, plenty of free stuff as I don't see anu way of getting money on the island I thought this would be most advantageous for me to have."

I spung the item in my hand and returned it to my pocket.

"Mille, Great name by the way and yes that was me whom turned on the A/C, It's a simple matter for me, odd ability and kind of selective but, I can control tech I knowthe inner workings of with a thought or gesture. pretty useful really. 'specially for hacking into other people's PCs and laptops."

I offered a hand to this new girl whom seemed to have friendship on her mind calling me bentley so readily.

Mille laughed as Bentley gave the device a whimsical twirl. "Genious! It's stuff like that that makes me wish I knew more about computers. Oh well." She blinked with a speculative look. "I don't suppose you'll need some...help? Perhaps carrying and, oh, I don't know...eating some of the spoils?"

Mille's eyes opened wide. "Really? That was you? Too cool! Hehe, talented in more ways than one, huh? So, you're obviously good with computers...well, good is an understatement, but it's the only word that comes to mind offhand. What did you do before you came here?" She took the girl's offered hand warmly with another smile.

"Not exactly normal but, who is in this word of ours right?"

I offered a simple sway of my stance to the girl as she asked if i needed someone to share the spoils with and what I'd done what before I came here.

"Would normally share it wish Michael but, since she's been busy I suppose I could share it with someone else. As for what I did before coming here? I was part of a three girl gang of sorts you could say. We were planning a high profile theft when we got to college actually but, it didn't pan out when Michael ended up losing all her scholarships that I pain painstakingly got her hacking into the top schools to get them for her. After that I worried constantly because she never called me... she had promised to call and coopers never go against their word to their friends so I added myself to the roster of students to see what was going on with her."

Mille laughed. "Right. Normal's overrated, anyway." Although every once in a while, she wouldn't mind things going back to normal.

A smile came to her lips as Bentley agreed to share with her. It felt good to make friends. Mille listened to Bentley's story, wide eyed, of how the three of them used to pull of heists of a grand scale. True heists, too, not just theft from K-mart or something like that, but what sounded like large scale operations. The plans they had once they went to college sounded like pure art...right up until the plans fell apart. "Well, I guess by now you've found her and figured out why Michael couldn't get in touch, considering the fact that you and she have been reunited. But what about the third girl? Is she here somewhere too? And what about your college plans, what do you think happened to make them all reject you?"

Mille blinked, then stopped herself with a small smile. "Sorry. I got really into your story. Didn't mean to ask so many questions."
