The plain metal door clanged shut behind Severity. The passageway was stripped of people, promising an uninterrupted return to her dorm if she moved quickly and silently. The thin yellow tendrils of an early dawn reached through large windows and the skylights above.

Deep beneath the surface, the gray woman opened her eyes. The girl had learned well in her time below. Steel smiled and disengaged her mind from scrying on her prey. Soon another would be in her grasp, and she needed to clean things up before then. She did tick off a mental note to check on the young woman's progress when next she got a chance, though.
