Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
Antipode quickly made certain that the room was secure. No teachers would be entering, and the students, therefore, would not be allowed in here until the time came that he was done. Tendrils, still invisible, still unable to be seen or heard by either of the girls, sealed the door while he waited. He wanted to watch their interactions a little longer. It was something he didn't do enough of, after all.
Watching them, he found it curious. It seemed as though the one girl... Mercy, apparently, had been swatting at the other girl's ass. However, perhaps there were other explanations. Still, the interaction was amusing...
But for now, other than sealing them unknowingly into the room, he left them alone. Very soon, though, he'd speak to them. Would he speak to one at a time, or both of them? So many possibilities...

They'd get bored as hell doing that after awhile, and then I'd be through having conversations with them for the rest of my life. That'd be fine if that wasn't exactly how things work on the internet!

Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
Mercy read over the menu, eyes scanning the words but not really picking up on anything. She found herself reading everything several times over before it actually stuck in her mind.
"Well," She said, "The sandwiches look pretty inoffensive." She turned her head slightly, as if trying to figure out what one of the words on the menu meant. "The rest... I'm not so sure about." She giggled a little. She played awkwardly with a small coaster. "So, what class was it that you were headed to?"

Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
Katarina pondered silently, so deep in thought that she almost completely missed what Mercy had said. "What class?" she stumbled over the words, her train of thought broken. "Oh, sorry. It was Music 101. Entry level stuff...required, even if I don't really need it." she offered a slight shrug. Missing one class in what was her only really strong subject wouldn't matter that much. Her lips pursed as she considered the menu again, though her mind decided it wanted to wander back to the pat on the rear Mercy had given her. What had that been about, she wondered, though her reserved nature towards such things prevented her from asking.

"Oh you're a music student!" Mercy said, beaming. Her initial shyness, coupled with the awkward ambience of the earlier moment had started to disappear. "I've walked past the music classes a few times," She admitted. "There's some really amazing stuff going on in there, you girls are really talented!" She tried to give the most calming smile she could. All the while her mind was racing: Did she notice? Did she feel it? Oh God it couldn't be...

Katarina chose to try ignoring the rather intimate contact Mercy had shared and refocused on what she was talking about now. "I've been playing for most of my life, so what I'm learning now isn't anything really new." she offered a shrug. Some of the pieces were different and before she'd never considered the history behind them, but that was really it. When it came to actually playing either of the instruments she claimed proficiency at, she didn't need anything in the way of actually playing them any more. "What about you? What are you here for?" she offered to keep the conversation alive and her mind away from its wondering.

Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
"Oh, I'm studying Art," Mercy said, pulling a pencil from her the breast pocket of her blouse and a sketchpad from her bag by way of explanation. "I sketch stuff mostly. A little bit of painting, some sculpture, but mostly the drawing."
For a moment, Mercy contemplated asking why some of the students in her classes had been acting so.... odd. Every so often one of them would come into class very quiet and distracted. It was as if each of them were running into the same problem, but no-one dared to talk about it in public...

Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
((Apologies for my long LoA, my computer went down with an overheat problem.))
Katarina nodded, “Visual art then.” That was a somewhat touchy subject to her, as the “Art” course work consisted almost entirely of visual art and offered nothing on the concept as music as an art form. Upon reflection she figured that was because music had its own dedicated course, but it still irked her that “Art 101” spoke nothing of music. When she turned her eyes towards her companion she found Mercy looking quite distracted. While she was tempted to pose the question why, prudence pulled her back from that course of action. She had only just met this woman and while she was pretty sure Mercy had made a very personal touch to her rear she wasn’t about to start trying to delve into the girl’s personal life or concerns. Instead her eyes drifted way towards the rest of the mess room, which was essentially deserted. “Rather…eerie with this room so empty.” Katarina offered the comment without really thinking it over.

"Yeah," Mercy nodded her head and looked about the room, eyes flitting over the darker corners and out the windows. "Never seen it this quiet at this time of day." She said, drumming her fingers on the table. A thought popped into her head that took her by surprise.
"You don't suppose there was some big meeting for the students to attend do you? I don't want to miss something like that this early on." Mercy looked a little distressed by the possibility, checking through her notebook to see if she'd made any mention of such a meeting.

Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
((Is Antipode coming back perchance, or should we seek out a new ‘villain?’))
“I can’t imagine there would be a meeting of the entire student body without our knowledge.” She hesitated after she completed that sentence. Katarina glanced about the room a moment longer before speaking again. “I have the feeling that something unpleasant is going on here.” Katarina’s betrayed the ice that had begun to take hold in her heart. Subtly, she pinched herself in the arm before laughing in her mind. If this was a nightmare would that really wake her up?

(If you need a new monster, I'll take care of things, provided there are no objections from either of you lovely ladies.)

(Well, we do need another monster. I'm okay with it if Katarina is. ) Mercy was still as innocent as ever. When the girl across from the table to her confessed her worries, the French girl simply smiled. "I'm sure it's nothing unpleasant," She said, with all the wide-eyed optimism and naivety that she had been known for. "Like I said, I'm sure there was just a meeting or a fire drill or something and we missed it." She smiled again, this time with a little less conviction. She hadn't actually convinced herself.

Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
((I would be fine with that, as Mercy is too.))
Katarina shook her head, "It couldn't be a fire drill. There are alarms everywhere and they aren't going off." She pointed towards one of the devices that would have gone off in a state of emergency. "So...I'm thinking we should leave, now." she immediately made for the door, her pace somewhere between a walk and a jog.

(Okay. I'll wait until you two get to another enclosed area, and I'll make my presence known there. Thanks for letting me in this one. ;p )

Re: Finding Common Ground in Uncommon Circumstances (Open)
Mercy got her things together in a panic. She hurriedly bent down and placed the sketch pad back into her bag, and slipped the pencil back into her breast pocket. Slipping the bag over her shoulder she began to jog behind Katarina, not wanting to be left behind. Whatever it was that was going on around here, Mercy knew that she didn't want to be alone for too long. Something crossed her mind as she reached the door.
"Where are we going to?" She asked.
