She listens to the woman speak about the role of a ninja and the risks involved. It was similar to what she does but death was more of a side effect of backlash if one was not careful. Kanoe found commitingin suicide a bit much and wasteful, but the devotion was something to praise she suppose.

"What will I do?" she began, "Hmm...I suppose I will travel for awhile. I was naive when I was younger thinking I was the only special one in the world. On this island I managed to find a few gifted students such as yourself. So I will travel with my love in search for others. Perhaps we will find more knowledge about magic in the world. And of course we will continue our studies. Can never be satisfied with our current level of power afterall."

What they will do with that power will be a question they will answer when it comes to that. For now, it was study study study much like Taisie's urge to train here. But her goals will have to wait. She still had to survive this island with her mind and body mostly intact.

It was as she had said before. She wasn't very much going to commit suicide if she did something wrong. But she was amazed how devoted they were, wondering if she could use such a devoted mindset for something. Listening to Kanoe, she nearly sounded the same as being passionate of finding others. It was an interesting thought, forming a group like that.

"Practice makes perfect..." she says, summing up Kanoe's explanation. She stands up, taking another long drink of her bottle before she walks over to the trash can and throws it away. Now for leg weights... training always involved pushing your muscles to the limits. She was by no far close to being a body builder, but her arms and legs had to withstand her body weight for a good amount of time.

Gesturing to the machine she was about to use, they move to that machine, Kanoe being able to sit on a chair next to her as she sets herself up in the weights. One hundred and thirty pounds since her legs were in pretty good shape. Pushing her feet against the mat, she begins to push it up before slowly letting it push her feet down.

"Sounds nice... having such a goal with someone you care deeply for. Learning any type of magic will help me tremendously... I'm certainly willing to follow in growing stronger..."

"Hopefully others here share that same thought and join us when we graduate," she replies, "You can join us if you like. I am certain Clarice will love to meet you as well as well as the others."

She carries her water over to the next machine. Just watching Taisie constantly work out was making her tired. The witch could barely handle jumping much less pounding away at heavy unmoving weights. But like magic, this one did it because it made her feel alive. A fair enough feeling to reach for.

"I can try teaching you what I can," she says softly, "I only know two paths and my lover knows nearly six. She tends to have better control while I have a larger amount of mana to fuel my mana."

Of course she was not going to force the little ninja to join her if Taisie had her own goals in mind. But so far it feels as if they had similar paths. This would be a wonderful ally to have against the overwhelming odds here.

"I'll let you know now... I only know physical magic spells because combining them... I feel stronger then shooting a bolt of darkness at someone... But because of certain... circumstances... I have a larger amount of mana... but I don't suffer from any backlash as long as I am thinking correctly. Just the normal exhaustion to passing out if I use too much."

There were many reasons she didn't suffer the usual backlash, and she wasn't sure if Kanoe would want to know why she didn't have backlashes from her attacks. Her own fighting style wouldn't probably be suitable since Kanoe looked like she was used to her regular training.

She smiles a little as the woman goes to grab another water bottle. Seems just watching her made her weak in the legs. It was amusing to watch her how she drank almost more water then what she needed, although Kanoe wouldn't catch up since she had to push herself against the weights all this time.

"Mmm... I only know three paths. Darkness, fire, and ice. They're very good physical attacks added with a strong kick or punch. I know... this probably sounds confusing to you a little. You must throw your magic a lot correct?"

"I suppose that is one way I use my spells," she replies.

Of course there were other ways than just melee and throwing for channeling magic. But, those two were the simplest for novices such as them. She stretches lightly as she extends her legs as she works out the kinks in her sore muscles. This woman did know alot though. It will be nice to have someone experienced so her and Claire did not have to start with the fundamentals every time when teaching another.

A melee caster perhaps that is where terms such as spell warrior come from. She could never remember the silly terms Keemari had told her about. Hopefully this one does not get caught in those particular claws. He could become a large hinderance to her plans in the future.

"I am able to channel fire and darkness. Mostly the raw elements of fire but darkness I know a few other spells besides basic bolts." she answers.

"I see... do you suffer any backlashes from your spells?" she asks curiously, still pushing away at the weights and drinking water while doing so. She watches Kanoe extend her legs, the first sight of them made her blink away to keep from staring. She should know better then to get caught up in emotional desires like this... she should know...

"There's a better way to work out sore muscles is to keep moving around on them, soften them up so their not restricting like they probably are now. It'll help you relax faster then just kneading them."

Was this concern for the woman's being in her voice? Not that she wasn't concerned for Kanoe’s well-being, but the fact she let that little tinge of worry escape with her calm tone was annoying. Clearing her throat to brush it off quickly, she seems to have to push a bit harder to keep the weights going up and down with her legs.

"I know there are differences in spell casting. Long-distance, physical contact, defensive spells and such... I was just curious to know what you mostly rely on when faced with an enemy is all. I've been... studying scrolls and books in my room. I'll have to take you there after I'm done here."

She was sure the woman would be interested in the books and scrolls she had in her room. The woman said she studied tomes and such in her time alone and with her… spouse. Kanoe seemed like the one to take book-reading over outside activities like the olden day children were used to. She liked that style very much.

"I suppose you are right," she says rising to her feet, stretching a bit more, "And I do suffer from backlash, usually bruises and burns on my hands and arms. I do my best to keep distance but I have close range spells as well."

The dampeners on the island seem to help keep the backlash damage to a minimum while greatly weakening her powers. Kanoe walks around slowly to help stretch her leg muscles. She tries to rely fully on range magic as monsters are unforgiving if one allows them to get too close. She brushes hair away from her face as she turns back to Taisie.

"I have a few tomes and books that I found on this island and back home. Perhaps we can share notes in the future."

She was a sucker for lost texts and scrolls. Though she was still learning to translate most of the runes in her own books, it was always good to have a large selection of knowledge when it comes to magic. Even if she barely understands a fraction of it.

"Mmm..." she replies simply to the woman's answer. So Kanoe suffers backlash. Must be difficult to continue channeling when your hand is burned or bruised, forcing energy and feeling more pain from it.

Sharing notes sounded very tempting to do for Taisie. She understood the old, Japanese kanji the old scrolls are inscribed in. It’s mostly the old English writing she was having trouble with. She could speak clear English without a Japanese accent, but she had little or no idea what to make of old British literature.

"I know how to translate the scrolls to English. Perhaps it is a mere language problem and possibly I can translate some of your texts to a better language. We'll see I suppose."

It was exciting to say the least. She may be able to learn so much in one sitting, its as if a child just got herself close enough to a lollipop on the tallest shelf and she was just within reach of grabbing after so long a struggle at getting up there. Unlike Kanoe, she was happy to get up close and personal with any opponents. It was her specialty and being able to avoid being caught or even letting herself get caught only to turn the table; that was her fighting style.

"That will be wonderful," she says softly, "I still am not sure how I managed to translate the first few runes when I found my tome."

Kanoe had to admit she was growing rather eager herself. She almost wanted to tear teh woman away from the weight machine and drag her back to the dorms. Studying and reading were her things not lifting weights. The witch had to be patient though. They will have time to review notes at a later time. Taisie seems to need this work out. It did help in opening the woman up to her.

"Are you even sore yet?" she asks with a smirk, "You have been at this for over an hour now."

"Define sore," she teases once more. She wasn't really, tired with her arms and slowly with her legs, but she wasn't sore. It was a daily thing she usually did. Stretching herself out with aerobics and gymnastics before moving on to some weights; it was her routine to stay in shape for her training.

"I'm not really. A little tired, but I've been doing this for twelve years. I've gotten myself used to it."

Since Kanoe looked so eager to get back to the dorms now, she stops her work out, dabbing her head and neck with the now darker white towel. Getting up from her spot she takes another sip and smiles somewhat to her. The woman certainly was a magic user; being so interested in dusty scrolls and books wasn’t something a normal person would be excited over.

"Once we get to my dorm, would you like to... wash off your sweat since you've been trying hard in tumbling?"

She was not sure if the woman was teasing as she hardly did much beyond the tumbling. Seeing that Taisie was done for the day, she begins walking to the door. Kanoe tosses the empty bottles into the trash as she turns to the new student.

"A shower and a change of clothes would be nice," she says with a faint smile, "You look like you could use a shower yourself."

Twelve years is a long time. She studies magic ever she found her tome as a young child. Of course she hardly sweats over studying old books and scroll lest she tries to channel a powerful spell or ritual. She realizes that Taisie mentioned going to the woman's dorm. Was that an invitation?

"Umm what room do you stay in?" she asks, hoping she was right about the slight assumption.

"Room 218. Here is a spare key for anytime you'd like to come."

Dropping the spare into the woman's hand, she bows to her politely. Whether it was an 'invitation' in that sense, it was only in Taisie's mind and hers alone. She knew she needed a shower, especially after the thoughts she had been having while with Kanoe.

Slowly following the woman out of the gym, she bows once more as they excuse themselves from each other. She figured Kanoe would grab some books or tomes to take to her room at least that was what she was thinking. Taisie heads to her room to shower first so Kanoe doesn't have to rush herself when she gets there. Slipping off her work out outfit, she steps into the shower and turns on the faucet. The warm water felt nice against her sweating body as she washes her hair.

Once that was done, she slips into a happi, which is a Japanese straight-sleeved coat made of indigo cotton and imprinted with a distinctive mon (crest), following along with what is called sweatpants in America tied with an obi (sash). Once she was fitted into her attire, she steps out, still drying her hair with a towel and sits on her bed, waiting for Kanoe.

Her room was dimly lit, much to her liking. Mostly candles and had a pale, white color to the walls, but because of the dimly lit environment, it looked much darker. There were actually two beds with the room, but it seemed Taisie didn't have a roommate and thus it was neatly kept vacant. Her own bed wasn't messy aside from the light folds when she sat down on it. Spreading her scrolls and a few books before her, she scans the room for any untidiness. Her dresser had four candles on it and there was some sort of formation, perhaps a star-shaped pentagram? Possibly used for summoning. Her bed sheets were a white color while the top of it had odd dark blue and light blue designs. Her room probably looked like a sacrificial chamber, but she actually liked how the room looked.

She closes her fingers around the key and thanks the woman. She did not expect to be given a spare key for Taisie's room. Perhaps this was something that close friends did, she was not one to have many of those.

The dark witch returns to her own room and strips away her clothes so she could take a shower. She took her time, rinsing her long black hair and then brushing every knot out before stepping out into the bedroom. Kanoe slips into something more comfortable, long black robes that covered her body completely. She puts on a simple inverse cross necklace and pulls her hair back behind her shoulders. It felt good to be in robes again.

Kanoe goes into her closet and grabs a large black tome covered in strange runes. It contained much about demonic magic and summoning rituals. This was more than enough to keep them busy. Besides, carrying so many books is troublesome. The witch hugs the tome to her chest as she leaves and heads over to Taisie's room. She politely knocks before unlocking the door and stepping in.

Her eyes blink at the sight. This room was just as dark as her own. She recognizes the pentagram on the table and the faintly lit candles. This woman had more in common with her than she thought. Kanoe bows slightly, long strands of hair falling infront of her shoulders.

"These tomes are heavy so I brought only one to get us started," she says softly.

She sees the woman is surprised by her room; is her room not to her liking she wondered? She bows as best as she could while sitting down and gestures to a possible seat next to her. A tome was a tome, anyways.

"That's fine. I have all of mine spread out in front here. Just be careful of the scrolls. They’re very delicate."

There were three thick books, two medium sized ones and five scrolls set out of the way so they wouldn't rip or anything. All these books were very old by appearance, but the writing was preserved very well for its age. Taisie's eyes fall to the tome wrapped in Kanoe's arms, curious to know what sort of magic may be hidden in its text.

"At first glance to these books, they'll probably be impossible for you to read, but they are just old dialect. I'm sure we can figure out something this day."

Kanoe sits down in the chair provided. She sets the tome down and pulls out some notes she took with her that will hopefully help a little. Of course this was all done without any sort of key and just from intuition and tons of luck. Her eyes gaze at the books and scrolls. Yep, she will be coming to visit often and will need to tell Claire about this woman. This new girl had access to more text than she does.

"Where did you find so much?" she asks, "I only stumbled upon my tome."

She reaches and takes a smaller book and begins flipping through the pages. Though she was very possessive about her tome, if this one could translate it further it was a risk worth taking. The witch looks from her notes and at the runes on the book, trying to find any similarities.
