Suzuna ran as fast as she could. She could hear the growls of the beasts ever closing on their backs as they sprinted trough the endles maze-like alleys of the once prospering urban landscape. Infront of her she could see Karins back, and what was behind her, well she didn't care to know.

Suddenly she heard a growl from behind, not an echoing one but direct. She turned on her heels, her rifle on hip level. Without hesitation the rifle sent a deadly flash of a projectile towards the sound. It hitted the pursuer on its lower torso, nearly shredding it on two, and continued its path, crippling the one coming second before hitting on wall, leaving a smoldering fist sized hole in it.

It might be a game of cat and mouse, but this mouse would bite and gnaw fiercely.

The creature shrieked as it saw her, then was blown into a bloody mist! The flash of the weapon and explosion lit up the dark sky, and further howls were heard! Now it seemed like the monsters were winding through the ruined town. Karin saw a shadow bound over a low, crumbling wall. Others began to weave in from the sides, darting between walls and buildings, racing hurriedly to try and get them from the sides! It was becoming more frantic, with Suzuna diving and rolling desperately to avoid clawed hands and furry legs. Her long cannon discharges, blowing a huge amount of sand and dirt into the air as well as a beasts' leg... but it's Karin who has to defend her in close range, doing what she can to keep the beasts from catching them!

As they burst past the thickest pack, outrunning the ones coming from the sides, the beastial men form a furry mob howling, scrambling, and pursuing them through the city. Even as Suzuna tries to aim and fire again with her cannon, her foot hits something like a root, sending pain into her mind and her body tumbling to the ground! Oh no...

close combat was one of Karin's favorite things in the universe. she carried a knife of sorts in her holster at her hip to signify this fact. the things at her back stretched along the ground wrapping their way around as many of the beings as she possibly could manage tossing them like simple toys in any direction a number of times into each other. she'd turn to look at Suzuna as she'd stumble to the ground. Karin didn't need a second to react as she lept between Karin and the beasts pistol in one hand, knife in the other and shadows stretching and distorting around her.

She'd look back for a moment blue eyes wide open unblinking obviously becoming bloodshot. She wasn't human even if she looked mostly like one and this was becoming more obvious as the moments passed. She may have been more durable than a human but, using her abilities against such a group to protect suzuna would wear her out quickly.

Shadows, limbs, and blades flash in the dark city. Karin's sudden interference, tossing the creatures left and right, temporarily scatter them. It's one of the only reasons they aren't instantly mobbed. Suzuna, still on the ground, finds her ankle isn't only aching... it is actually -pinned-. The root seems to have somehow come around her foot, pinning her ankle and heel tightly to the ground! She was a sitting duck unless she did something right away...

Karin maneuvers desperately, finding the beasts she scattered spend only a few moments to test and probe her before attacking again. This time they have a more coherent, co-ordanized attack, weaving and dekeing, jabbing and dodging. As more of those hurt and staggered by her originally gather, it becomes more and more obvious that they are becoming completely surrounded...

And Karin can only defend one side of Suzuna. As she feints and attacks creeping beasts on one side, others crawl or creep for the downed agent from the other side, reaching out with paws to grasp or poke the rambunctious redheaded agent... then quickly scampering back as Karin would round towards them! She was tiring quickly... one such beast, seeing Karin flagging, hurdles at the back of the remaining agent, attempting to pounce her to the ground!
