The redhead mentioned with a slightly more teasing tone before she reminded herself about the unpredictable girls around and closed her eyes before her head faced the sky again. She was ashamed about herself in a way sometimes if her stored aggression was about to overwhelm her which eventually just ended up in something like a teasing statement or even physical rage. Her voice turned into a more relaxed one before she spoke to her again.

But I guess you are right, your point of view makes sense if I mention my past as well, nothing will turn your surroundings into heaven if you do nothing. Life has changed me, but I prefer to say 'who cares' instead of 'fuck it all'.

If Lyndsay would know what exactly was going on around Shokushu it would be more comfortable, but for now Ryu was glad she had been able to keep something like a conversation running.

Too bad we are going to deal with that for now... Ha, I still love this place though. I managed to make up friends here faster than anywhere else, also being able to see them everyday is pretty enjoyable.

She felt like moving to clear her mind for now, it would give her the chance to restore her logical point of view and may be pretty comfortable due she already began to feel the tension that built up inside her. With a smile she faced her again while her right hand hit the water gently which forced some drops of it to pour down on Lyndsay's body.

Hey Blue, want to swim now? I guess just lying around on the surface wouldn't be that productive, eh?

"Yeah a swim, right. Would be much more relaxing than just floating here."

She decided not to comment on what else had been said; it was already bringing up enough bad memories for her; being the only non-christian or non-catholic in her school hadn't helped matters either. She silently looked to Ryu for a time, the thought of making friends and seeing them every day if she wanted was a good prospect. Maybe even seeing Ryu every day would be nice enough.
"Ugh I really need to loosen up a little some time. Have to stop focusing on the crap that pisses me off."

She said simply as she began to casually swim out along the beach still.
"Ever hear the stories the seniors tell freshmen? like the monster and shit like that? I heard some girl talking about them to one of the other girls I saw on the plane that I was on. What's up with that?

Ryu began to keep the pace of Lyndsay, still on her back she paddled with her legs in the water and faced the sky while the student stayed in the corner of her eye. Her question kind of distracted her thoughts from their usual path and led to her more perverse memories about such events.

Not quite sure if I should talk about that, seriously. Guess you won't believe me anyway, but due you asked I will tell you something about those stories if you don't mind.

She even turned her face slightly and looked at her without a special face expression, these words would sound unbelievable anyway and Lyndsay was the first girl who actually wanted to talk with her about this subject. It doesn't matter at all, even though if they would never become friends she would tell her the truth.

It is true that there are 'monsters' on the island, not really the pleasantest thought when you are around if you ask me. Most girls don't even know about them and make fun or spread rumors and stuff, but believe me, if you encounter such a being you will change your way to think about this island and the reason why there are so many attractive girls around, you know what I am saying? They perform... things with you and others, if they are done they leave and it doesn't matter what you say afterwards if someone finds your body then, they won't believe it either.

Going further into detail would may embarass the redhead but if she wanted to find out more to get safer around the grounds she wouldn't mind. Ryu had been able to spot approaches of the girl's mind and she may think she wasn't serious at all, still she offered her a light smile as she stopped talking.

Lyndsey heard what Ryu said, it bothered her a little bit. Another new girl using the same ploy as the juniors and seniors, it was doubtful. Ryu had no reason to lie yet she said the same thing that was the joke and ruse yet was so serious about it. Lyndsey hurmed a little as she dove under the water with a bit of a spell of air around her mouth and lungs so she wouldn't have to surface for a few, her arm noticeably began to shimmer red as she did, though such a weak spell wouldn't burn or even heat the water.

a minute or two passed before she'd finally surface and look to ryu nodding.
"What sort of things are we taking about? a waltz, monopoly or something?"

She tried to make light of the situation, to ease the tension in the air she could most certainly taste. She didn't like situations to be tense at all.
"And where do they 'lurk' around here? is it safer in groups or something?"

It didn't surprise Ryu as Lyndsey dove under the surface and her arm began to shimmer red, obviously she used magic like another girl she encountered already, it's a pity she wasn't capable to perform anything like that to get rid off such creatures that way. She shook her head and waited until she came back up again while she turned her body around on her stomach and slowly swam for a short distance.

Her question seemed rather inappropriate but after all she didn't know anything about it, so some explanation would be fitting.
Well, we are talking about more intimate things, sexual activities and stuff. I don't want to startle you or something if you believe me or not, but that's how it is. If I remember anything correctly they 'rape' us around here.

The whole story about the island wouldn't ease anything, maybe everything would just get harder the more she said.
They are everywhere, visible or not. In the woods, in the dorms, even in the water around here it is possible to come across one of these beings. Groups don't make any difference, I guess they don't really care about any disgrace until they are able to simply grab one out of the group or even more to satisfy their needs. Well, you are safer, but does it really matter?

The redhead took a deep breath and gazed at the girl again, it wouldn't matter if she'd believe her or not, maybe she was a lucky one who won't encounter such a being, but she doubted that.
I see you got some magical skills. What are you able to perform with them? I mean, I met a druid or something recently, so I started wondering.

Lyndsey heard the slight bit of unease in ryu's voice. she decided not to force the issue any longer, it was apparently a painful subject. whether it was real or not, ryu believed it and that was enough.
maybe that lab off the coast is putting something in the food around here, I'll have to be careful with what I eat.

she thought as Ryu asked of her skills in magic. nervously she smiled in thought of how she could put her complete lack of skill. She decided she might as well be honest about it.
"Well, I can't do much, competently anyway. I can sway minds, sorta like that Jedi trick from those movies. doesn't work on strong minded or willed people but, gets me out of some tight spots. I can extend my breath underwater but, only up to five minutes. Then I can enhance my natural abilities; run without getting tired sort of things. I mean I 'can' do more just not well I don't really get how it all works."

She paused smirking slightly looking to Ryu as she floated still for a few moments.
"But aside from magic, ever read X-men? If you have, you know Gambit? I have those powers to, well the first ones anyway, haven't really explored to see if I have any more of his abilities."

It seemed like the student didn't believe her at all, but Ryu was fine with that. Maybe it was time to quit that subject and talk to her later again if she encountered some of them to prove she had been right that day.

Seems pretty useful sometimes. Guess you have some good marks in sport, right?

She never really read the X-men series, all this futuristic stuff seemed rather unnatural and not explainable so she quit reading it after some pages. After she arrived at the island she just got more depressed about not having any magical abilities, so she never thought about it again.

Gathered some information about it earlier, if I am right Gambit can... charge objects with something like kinetic or stuff, causing them to explode. Impressive if you are able to perform things like that...

Ryu smiled gently before she slowly moved on and swam in big circles around her because she wasn't moving at all, trying to keep up the subject. Obviously she would be able to do something against the creatures on the island, but after all she didn't know anything about her skills and how they work at all.

You should practice if you have time to figure out how it works. Knowledge is power if I get it right.

"Should, but probably won't. Unless I find someone that already knows, i'll probably just end up getting myself killed with it. Really all this magic and these wierd powers and stuff, not worth the social segrigation and the corruption. Hell the corruption that power gave me made me end up here after all. I'd never have risked theft or cheating and lying, breaking and entering, defacing property and all that crap if I didn't know I'd be able to get away with it without people remembering."

She explained starting to again swim though in a bit of a unique weave around Ryu. She was enjoying the water and weather right now.
"We'll need to do this more often! Hanging out I mean. What else could we do?"

She laughed a little as she looked at ryu with friendly cheerful eyes that just seemed to beg for something further to do besides a simple swim, of course, so many times people would just assume she was flirting a little after a point, something about the way she spoke sometimes that one couldn't help but think that's what she was doing.

Ryu simply nodded to her instead to answer, it must be hard to talk with someone who didn't posess such skills and may appear unnecessary over time. While she kept her slow pace the student began to change her own movements, mentioning the fact they should hang out more often.

Yeah, sounds great! Nothing else to do anyway...

The redhead couldn't resist to analyze the tone in her voice and the face expression and wanted to ignore the fact that it seems like she was about to flirt with her or even did it already. Of course Lyndsey was a rather interesting women and she'd have plenty of time to get used to her if nobody of them got kicked out or something similar, but was that what she really intended to do?

Do you have any ideas? I mean, I am able to offer much time without a doubt and I guess it wouldn't be diversified if we keep our swim this way.

More than that, she had been interested in her when she saw her the first time on the chair next to her while she was on the blanket. She didn't intend to reveal the thought too obviously, not mentioning the unclear relationships already running between another student or even several student.

she hurmed to herself in thought doing a slow deliberate backstroke. she took a deep calming breath as she finished her thoughts. a laugh was offered and that same friendly slightly mischevious smile she always seemed to offer.
"dunno, pretty much an-y-thing Red... except, y'know make overs and girly shit like that. I'm sure by now you can tell I don't do girly."

again her tone seemed accidentally flirtatious. she couldn't be flirty if she tried however a bit of a curse really on her part; it got her a lot of unwanted attention from idiots though; Lyndsey actually liked Ryu enough to talk like a civil person to. She slowed her blue eyes landing on her simply enough.
"You start whatever and I'll follow along."

she gave a subtle wink to Ryu. Certainly that was going to be taken the wrong way.

The signs Lyndsey gave the redhead made her nervous. Not showing it to her, her mind tried to think about it. The student was pretty, indeed. To take the chance would be pretty mean and insulting so she'd have to make up something else which may be advantageous for both of them. If Ryu simply tried to go on with her newer intentions something like a friendship between the two get easily destroyed.

Hey Blue, I got an idea. How about we... do something like a contest? Who can hold his breath longer under water, wins. If I win you owe me a favor and I am sure you come up with something as well.

A simple offer, not too obvious and underlined by a hearty laughter and another soft smile. Well, if the girl didn't agree at all she'd have to come up with something else but for now it was enough to keep control of the situation. No magic, of course.

This time it was her giving Lyndsey a subtle wink, the many times she practiced sports gave her a suitable condition and she was confident it wouldn't be that hard to win against her, but after all the student didn't seem to be 'that' lazy as well.

The idea of a contest was something Lynz just couldn't refuse. her eyes shifted to one of confidence. She nodded to ryu with a subtle friendly chuckle.
"Alright then Red, s sounds like a plan, been trying to get that world record since I was ten, I could use the practice."

Her smirk remained as she began to think to herself what she'd ask for if she won though, it was likely she'd lose, she had been out of practice lately and with the inhibitors in place it was doubtful her kinetic energy would be able to strengthen her lungs enough.
"Do you have a watch or you want to just do it by who surfaces first?"

She asked cracking her neck and stopping her swim to rest and catch her breath and stregnth for this little game.

Contest seemed to work every time she met a pretty untenable student, like one time in the past on her first day but that was something inevitable, just like now for Lyndsey. As well as her smirk remained Ryu kept up her soft smile and took some deep breaths.

I choose the latter one if you don't mind, kind of inaccurate sometimes but I guess it is enough.

She stopped and relaxed while only her arms kept moving to keep her above the surface and from diving as well. The girl actually started wondering if there would be a wise way to use her favor without annoying Lyndsey, but for now she just wanted to win.

Ready when you are. I won't make it too easy for you.

for a few moments Lynz just took deep breaths before nodding to Ryu once more.
"Alright, so first to surface loses wouldn't be fun if you made this easy!"

She laughed a little as she took one deep final breath and dove under the water with her lungs filled at about the same time as Ryu. of course, She herself would only last about three minutes tops with the inhibitors in place, and probably less without her vision going blurred.
wonder what Ryu will want me to do if I lose

that thought just crossed her mind as she rested seemingly calmly.

Ryu's smile widened as she dove under the surface and quickly followed her example by taking the final breath before everything except most of her hair which still swam on the surface like red seaweed. She didn't intend to let her win but most likely she knew nothing about the student's abilities, it could've been a mistake to challenge her.

Just show me what you got Blue... What is she going to do if she wins?

The thought passed her mind like a terrible fact, of course there was a chance for her to win even if she tried very hard. Maybe two and a half minutes would be the limit for her until she'd have to go back to the surface, she never liked the uncomfortable and most likely painful feeling if you got no air left in your lungs. As well as lyndsey Ryu didn't move, she just looked at her to see if she used magic, but most likely to investigate her company further.
