Steph nodded slightly as she lead the way as she backed out of the communications room. She paused on deck, turning her head towards the sun as she blocked it's glare with her hands. Early afternoon, Aegir had thought, though he squinted for a moment with the brightness that washed over him and then had been fine when more clouds covered the gleaming orb again.

She then proceeded to march over the deck of the ship at her slow pace eventually leading Lyn to the back of the decrepid vessel. Bending down with her knees rather than her waist she hoisted up a rusty hatch revealing old warped wooden stairs that she descended carefully.

Bypassing the galley since she had figured nothing would be there she crept along the dark corridor until she came to a sealed rusty door.

Pointing with an index finger she indicated it. "That's the door to the crew's quarters."

She cracked her iknucles and placed her hands on the door, just like before the door collapsed after the hinges exploded. She mad a gun with her hand and blew off her finger tips as a show of pride in her work.
"That's done."

she snickered noticable looking to Stephanie then into the crew quarters. it was rather dark surprisingly, she assumed there to be little to no windows anywhere within, or those that were there to be covered with filth. Her hand glowed offering some faint illumination into the ship.

And a rush of stale air exited the room beyond as the door crashed to the ground without any apparent effort on Lyn's part. Steph smiled into the dark abode. Again she pushed her glasses to the bridge of her nose as she peered in. Needless to say that the place did have a few port holes but inky darkness brought on by dust mites had smeared their surfaces blocking out the light that filtered in here.

That had been amongst one of the first things that Lyn did afterwards, causing her hands to glow as some of the darkness resided from the area. Aegir had silently kept dabs on her abilities in order to better understand them before he would even think about striking.

"That ability of yours, there's no limit or drain?" Steph asked.

The room beyond had been preserved. Hammocks line the room where sailors bunked down, foot lockers housing clothes, toiletries and other effects had been lined up against on of the walls, some spilled over onto their sides spilling their contents out upon the floor.

Yet dust lined the floor here indicating that this chamber had been undisturbed for a good while.

"No limits that I'm aware of, and I've never oticed it feeling weak after using it so I really couldn't tell you. Why?"

she asked simply as she observed what she could of the crew quarters. moving slowly into it disturbing the thick layer of dust at their feet. she looked for anything that might resemble a diary or hell, even an old 8 track or betamax or something that might have recorded what happened to the crew.
"The ability kind of comes naturally to me, sort of as easy as breathing."

she explained further deciding this woman to be trustworthy enough though the faint glow on her arm remained as the runes benefactor continued to glare at aegir.

"Oh, I just find it interesting that's all," Steph smiled as she said this of course their were alterior motives for possessing this knowledge, there always was. Aegir reserved himself on the fact that he might have to endure some physical pain here though while thinking upon the matter he felt cold eyes upon him.

Nothing from the girl, nothing abnormal from her though he now sensed something buried beneath the surface, something that had been weary of him which he began studying again. Another personality? A host being?

He had been uncertain as to what this was though it was safe to say it had not been capable of communicating with Lyn. It was only fitting for him to refer to this being as Marie. In fact he delved into her mind with his own as he search this being out before taking his eyes off her.

"It orignates from your hands or does it come from your fingers?"

Amongst the clothes that spilled out onto the floor there had been a small leather bound book that had been buried beneath a heap of clothing, partially sticking out from beneath and into view.

she just shrugged a little bit to Stephanie as she knelt near to the ground picking up the odd leather bound book that was peeking out from under the spilled out clothing.
"Not sure where it comes from Steph, sort of just is. I think it and it happens. first time it happened was when I wished I could set a guy's hair on fire for groping me... and then his hair sort of combusted."

she explained the first time her power had shown itself. she continued to examine the book turning it around in her regular hand as her other one glowed so she could see the tome.
"Looks like we found something steph!"

She opened it and began to look for the final entries as quickly as she could.

"That's cool. You really set someone's hair on fire?" Steph asked as her eyes traced over the book in question as she pushed her ever slipping glasses to the bridge of her nose. She tried to read the spine on the book, finding that there had been no title there she moved in closer so that she was peering over Lyn's shoulder and reading as well.

I can hear it again, scraping at the walls of the cargo hold. Matthews has already fallen to it though it was lucky that no one else had. I often sit awake at night thinking of what it is. Damn that ghost ship! We took it's cargo as salvage and checked into the logs of the captain the last stating something about pirates.

The entry was hastily written it seems, and I suspect the crew were taken as prisoners probably to be ransomed back to their own country(ies).

Little wonder there had been little in the way of cargo though cap found a golden colored flute attached to a chain hidden in the captain's quarters but many think that the relic brings us ill fate. It;s broken anyway making no sound at least none that a man could hear. Our troubles began after we took it aboard the instrument bringing damnation to us all!

Already it's too late. All we can do is lock the doors and hope to contain it. We can hear it, not see it. One of them smart fellows from the city said that it bends all light or something. Damn that island in the distance too. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!

I thought that they were old wives tales meant to keep us in line but now I know the truth.

There had been more, this entry being amongst the last within the journal itself.

She laughed triumphantly when Steph had asked. it was enough to let her know it was true. she smiled darkly as she read the journal entry before closing it. She nodded faintly placing the book in her pocket and glancing about the room quietly. She shook her head as she returned to her feet tapping a finger against her chin slightly in thought.
"Strange... apparently it was some... invisible thing if i'm reading this right. freaky."

She shrugged faintly as she looked about the room cautiously. She hurmed a little bit at first letting her eyes wander still.
"wonder what it could have been... wonder if it ever left the ship...""

"What's it say?" Steph asked as she continued to peer over her shoulder though she fell silent as she answered her. After a moment she 'hmmmed' as she gave the matter some thought. "Maybe they got too close to Shokushu ... I don't know."

Could it still be on the ship? Aegir knew that this had been a no given that this had all been an illusion but no one had every explained to him about playing with his food either. How easy it would be to conjure up something to further add to his creativity.

"If there is anything that is on the ship after all this time it would be this one seeing how there were locks doors here and all. But if we can't see it is it wise to go opening up every locked door. It's probably dead after all this time, nothing to eat and all over the years unless it's like a snake or spider that can go forever without eating or drinking."

"Well... we did already open two... so we might have let it out already if it is still alive... I mean... It could be anything since it was invisible to the eye. I mean whose to say if it would be dead or not or if it was even alive to begin with. Might not even exist could have just been the crew going insane.""

She reasoned. she may not be the smartest person alive but, she was good at reasoning.
"I dunno maybe we should get off the ship... even though I do want a foil I doubt there will be one here and it's probably not worth searching."

"If they went insane wouldn't there be bodies? Or a body if they died and were disposed of." Steph fell silent for a moment before rubbing her arms with her hands as if a chill had just raced over her. She had only succeeded in getting more grease upon her as she did so.

The thought had occurred to her that something could have been freed or even here with them. "Let's go," she said as she backed up slowly to the door. A hand going to her glasses to push them up again. She seemed a little nervous as thoughts ran rampant in her head about an invisible monster, a monster that could have already released.

She swallowed a bit hard noticing how Stephanie was reacting to the air in the ship. It did feel a little off and the gentle burn in her arm was bothering her as well. She stood and dusted herself off a little strengthening the glow of her hand as she began to move back towards the door
"Yeah leaving sounds like a good plan Steph, I'm starting to get this really bad feeling too."

her voice was uneven as she peered into the faintly lit room for a short while longer before passing stephanie and reaching the door they had entered from.

And that had been when they hear a howl, more like a roar reminiscent of a lion's. By the sounds of it whatever had made that roar had been close by sounding as if it game from the aft of the ship near the stairs.

Steph shot her head towards Lyn with such a rapid motion of her neck that her glasses slid down her nose. "What was that?" She had immediately asked with a quiver in her voice denoting the fear that had coursed through her.

lyndsey stopped dead in her tracks and began heading the other way. she swallowed hard looking to Stephanie before taking a deep breath. She spent several seconds wondering what it could be before she came up with probably the thing that no one would want to hear in a situation like this.
"I think it's a sign that we should go THAT way..."

she said gesturing towards the bow of the ship and moving towards it slowly at first and then a deal quicker.
"As fast as we can manage! There's always a second set of stairs somewhere in a ship like this!"

Steph followed hastily as she shoved her glasses up to the bridge of her nose, her head gazing back over her shoulder down the hall as if she could see their assailant. Of course if it were an invisible beast he would not see it at all.

Not surprisingly there had been nothing to be seen though she may have cracked a smile at Lyn's words if the situation wasn't so tense.

But it had not been long before they spied another set of stairs heading up to the deck.
