Whoever it was had rotten timing. Could they not have waited a bit longer until Sullivan had left? It was going to be bloody difficult interrogating whoever it was with the police detective present. Now there was just a greater danger of someone getting hurt. She waved to get Sullivan's attention and put her finger to her lips to signal for him to be quiet. "Sebastian? Is that you?" She called out, making an educated guess. She didn't wait for a reply before exiting the "guest room" and shutting the door partway behind her. She prayed that Sullivan caught onto her meaning and stayed hidden until he was needed.

She stepped out into the main room to see who had just walked in. Hoping she could stall them while she tried to come up with a plan. With any luck it wasn't someone coming to murder her but then, she supposed, she's be grateful for the detective she was hiding in the back room. If it was Sebastian things might be much more complicated.

"What?" A gruff voice called as a man entered the apartment after using a key to let himself in. He was a good eal taller than her, well muscled and adorned in dark green clothes. He wore a hat on his head but was bald underneath, a handle bar moustache dominated the features of his face as he came in he turned back on the light in the kitchen.

"So did you get it?" He asked looking at her. The ex colonel grinned at her. "No bother, there's only one of the bitches left. The boss will be happy when all is said and done but I've ben running into some snags ... I had a few tonight, what of you?"

"I've had more than a few myself..." Lettie could honestly reply. She'd clearly been right about it being her brother coming in and he clearly wasn't aware of her memory loss... She wasn't sure why he should be. Something had made her suspect that her memory loss was linked to this case somehow. She followed he brother to the kitchen and leaned casually against the corner. "But I'll tell you my story later. Your story sounds more interesting. Maybe after you tell me after what you've been up to the last two night I'll forever you for being such a ginormous ass to me." She let venom slip into those last few rooms to let her brother know she really was annoyed with him.

She hoped the 'annoyed little sister' ploy would act as a cover for how lost she was. His words seemed to imply that there was only one Harper women left and she was beginning to fear the worst. She needed to hear it from Sebastian. That he was the masked villain in the street and at the dance. That he'd played a part in the murder of three women, possibly five now... She hoped Sullivan understood what she was doing too and that he was smart enough to stay hidden until she could wring a confession from her brother. Maybe she'd finally learn what her involvement was in all this.

"The professor knew that the chart was slipped to Holmes, the real chart anyway. You did get it, correct? Tell me you didn'tt fuck it up. You know," he sighed, "it really doesn't matter. Once Helena is dealt with the professor would bet all he wants.

"Tonight was just trouble after trouble. I ha the cops to deal with and if the professor didn't deem this so important anyone else would be doing this, not I but he doesn't trust many people.

"The maps, they were there right?" And when it was clear that she had no clue as what he was talking about he sighed, shook his head. "He must have taken them with him to France ... the Professor didn't consider that as to viable, damn Steph's caution. Well, no bother, at least we got him on a wild goose chase,"

He went on not knowing that they had company. "I had the cops making things difficult, they were patrolling the neighborhood but hadn't found Stephanie by then, Jodie was much easier, no one was guarding her but your boyfriend showed up during that mess. I think he thought he was being cute or maybe he was too confident, I drove him away though." "So excuse me if there's been a lot going on! You got the easy job, steal a few charts and maps that weren't time sensitive. I've had to collect all the samples."

Lettie frowned, this wasn't going so well as she liked. He hadn't outright admitted to killing anyone, though it seemed clear that the police hadn't been able to save poor Stephanie and Jodie. Damnit! Why were they doing this? What samples had to be collected and to what purpose? "Yes, I had my own trouble with the police the other night after you ditched me next to Elaine's body." That was another educated guess. "I'm more than I little miffed about that. You nearly scared me half to death with that damn mask."

"I found the ruddy chart but I still don't understand why your boss cared. Only one they seem to implicate is me. This whole thing is proving to be more trouble than its worth, Bastian. Why are we doing this?" She didn't have to fake the frustration in her voice. She legitimately wanted to know. Sullivan undoubtedly have enough proof soon to hang them both so at the very least she wanted to understand why they'd done these horrible things. "We are the ones who are going to go down in flames for this, you realize. Holmes and the police aren't stupid. They'll find us..." They already had. "And I'm sure your Professor friend won't save us when we do get caught. More likely he'll just arrange for us the same way he did for the Harper women, so we can't testify against him in court. So, tell me again brother, why are we doing this?"

"Your damned fault for not walking away fast enough! I told you just to meet her about her job, you probably didn;t think I was luring her out. But oh no! Little Sis had to get nosey again and try to understand things to big for her! And the professor would let anyone burn ... except for me. Do you think I've been so stupid as to give him all the real samples? I've been taking them too, getting stronger each time. Faster. Soon I won't be number two in the city anymore buck number one." he laughed a little at that, then shook his head.

"But Rico must know that Helena's the last keeper. I'm not really sure how it works but the professor knows all about it. He wanted Holmes out of the way but the scum is probably already looking over those maps and charts and probably figured out the key by now and uncovered the vault but he's just a man, no Lettie, I have discovered that there are far worse things out there then you'd imagine! When Helena's out of the way I'll share it with you sis!"

What was he talking about? What was he going on about?

Lettie gives her brother an alarmed look. "What do you mean you've been taking the samples too?!" She truly had no idea what he was talking about but he said it was making him faster and stronger. "That sounds really dangerous, Bastian. And what do you mean about worse things out there? You are starting to worry me." Really he was starting to scare her. She wasn't sure she wanted whatever it was he intended to share with her. She abandon her spot against the counter and cautiously started into the living room, trying to not make it look like to was running away from him. "I think we should stop this now, Sebastian. It's getting too hot. I may be a good thief but I know my limitations." She hoped. Sullivan was just in the next room behind the barely closed door. She wanted to be closer to him in case she needed his aid. "If it was just stealing the Blessing of Orion I could handle it, even with Rico's interference. But these murders are too much. They've attracted too much attention and whatever it is you are taking from the bodies is..."

"Strange things have been happening, Bastian..." She was referring to her memory loss now. Was this the doing of one of those beyond human things her brother had been talking about. "It frightens me. I thought nothing could scare me anymore..." And the moment she said it she knew it was true. She'd had a hard life, living on the streets, having to steal to survive. It would have harden the woman she had been. Maybe this scheme hadn't bothered the old Lettie. Maybe she didn't mind her brother killing people to achieve there ends but something unexpected happened. Something had stripped her of her defenses and laid her bare, reminding her what true fear was. Being lost in a dangerous and unfamiliar world... She felt certain even old Lettie would have been shaken to know there the something could do these things to her. "I've survived a great many things, Bastian. We both have. It made us arrogant... But we were fools. We are still just mortals. Please, lets stop this while we still can."

"No, Lettie, just one more left. We g\can't go back, not now. Not after so many. Jack gathered up the first collection and I must admit I need tp still sample some of them. Just as I've been careful; the doctor has. I've found some too though. Only Helena remains you see and I'll find where the professor hid the others before I give him this one.

"But you see after her it is finished Lettie. I'll be like Rico. Strong. Fast. Immortal." He had a crazed look over her face and followed her as she back up. He sneered at the thought. "Professor Moriarrity thinks he
s being clever, Rico struggles though they are both incaple of besting me know. Even Holmes is away on the professor's wild goose chase! He was the one that sent Stephanie to the dectective, sister. "Sweet stephanie I only wish we had more time though it was all I could do to gather some of her blood.

"And the best part is that those twits down in Whit Chapel believe that it's some kind of vampire, surely they'll come to suspect him, though they've been slow to do so thus far he is a foreigner and thus different, thus isolated to some degree.

"Just one more and it will all b over Lettie." He grinned at her, though it was an eerie grin that did not quiet reach his eyes. He walked closer to her and that was when things came rushing back, he was so minor a character that she failed to draw the connection sooner. Sebastain Moran, the second most dangerous man in London, the right hand of notorious Professor James ememy Sherelock Holmes! There wers still umamswered questions that she had to solve though this cleared up some of it. There were super natural themes at work here! Things she did not quiet understand as she neared the bedroom, hoping Sean had heard, hoping that he was ready with his revolver.

Who was Rico? Just what were thse samples? What was the Blessing of Orion? These questions and more swam through her head.

"You see, sis, this goes beyond a necklace fashioned from some asteroid metal and to think if you weren't so fucking nosey you could have been ignorant of all this until I turned you ..."

Sebastian was starting to make less and less sense as he closed in on her. She wasn't sure what exactly he'd been doing to himself but it had closely driven him mad with power. He wanted to be strong and immortal. Like Rico? Was he saying he thought Rico was immortal? He continued raving about someone named Moriarty, apparently their mysterious employer and a man her brother desperately wanted to surpass. Than he was babbling about Stephanie's blood. Then vampires and... Rico again? Clearly, the Spaniard knew how to get under her brother's skin. Had he been implying that Rico was a vampire? That was ridiculous!

"Just one more and it will all be over Lettie."

Sebastian continued advancing on her and she began to fear what he would to when he finally caught up to her. "It won't be just one more, Sebastian. Now that you've tasted this power you will start to hunger for it. You'll kill more and more and..." Something clicked suddenly she remembered who exactly this man was. Sebastian Moran, the second most dangerous man in London. She remembered who the first one was too. His employer, Professor James Moriarty. Sebastian was his most deadly assassin and right hand man. Dear god, she thought she might have been able to save this man. She retreated closer to the guest bedroom, hoping Sullivan was ready to come to her aid.

"...And to think if you weren't so fucking nosey you could have been ignorant of all this until I turned you ..."

"Turned me? Into what?!" She was at the bedroom door now and her hand reach back for the knob. "A monster like you? No, thank you, Brother Dear. I'm afraid I've had my fill of being altered against my will. I've already been robbed of myself once this week, though I'm suddenly beginning to think someone might have been doing me a favor by erasing my memories, but all the same I won't let you try to change me too. I have no desire to follow whatever new horrible path you have chosen for yourself now."

"Horrible? Horrible? This is sublime, Lettie. You don't know what this feels lie, how inceredible it is."

The bedroom door opened then, Sean was standing there, his revolver out and point at him."That'f far enough! Police."

But Sean rushed forward him with a roar, the gun discharged 4 times, all four hlit Sebastain somehere in the chest driving him back, but surprisingly not felling him as he turned and ran,
sullivan cursued, fired twice and missed both times.

She then heard shattering glass as Sebastain jumped through on before getting swallowed yo in the darkness. Sulljvna cursed. "he's bleeding, I hit him four times and it didn't even slow him down, look at the window sill, that's blood."

He turned towards her then, his eyes appraising her as he looked for any sign of injury.

"Are you alright, Lettie?"

Lettie's heart was racing and she was a little frazzled by what had just happened but otherwise she was fine. "I am uninjured, Detective. Thank you for your concern but I think you should be more worried about my brother. I take it you heard what he was rambling on about. He thinks he'd on the verge of godhood and given what we just witnessed..." She looked to the pools of blood her brother had left behind. "He may not be far off the mark. He seems to think Helena's blood is the key to his complete transformation. He may even be heading her way now. You have to stop him."

"I put four slugs here," he thumbed his heart. "He staggered back but - I don't understand but you can't stay here. He no doubt knows that your associated with the police. He's crazy, you heard the ranting he did but he's lost a bit of blood too so that may be in no condition to strike against Helena but there are a few things he cleared up.

"That Helena is tied to this, is suppose to be the last and he's working for Moriarity, Holmes enemy. It seems that they didn't want Holmes to be around since he has a way of figuring thinks out. I'll try to reach him but it's unlikely he'll get back in time.

"He also infered something with this Rico being a bother. Any idea who she is?

"I had no intention of staying here, Detective Sullivan. I'll gather some things and I'll go to a hotel. Bill should be here soon. I'm sure he can escort me there if you are worried about leaving me on my own but I really do think you should track down the last Miss Harper tonight." Her brother's speech made her a little fearful that he might truly be something more than human. He'd taken four shots to the heart and had continued standing. And even wounded he'd still been able to make a rapid escape. "He's a madman who thinks he's nigh invincible. You should underestimate a man like that. I'll be fine though. I'm sure this is probably the only place he would know to look for me so as long as I leave here I should be all right."

She headed to the bedroom that was presumably hers and started looking for a suitcase. "All I can tell you about Rico is that he's male..." Very male. "And foreign, Spanish I believe. Though his eyes are blue. I only met him the one time at the masquerade though he seemed to know me well enough. He's dangerous for sure but he didn't seem beyond human." He certain had a pulse and the hot-blooded desires of a human man. He hadn't demonstrated any otherworldly powers when he was with her, unless you wanted to count the way he'd managed to get her lose herself to his wicked desires. "He's clearly a rival but I am not really sure what it is he's after." Outside of sex, of course.

Sullivan looked unsure at first. He did not want to leave her alone, wanted to protect her but at the same time he knew she was right about her brother and Helena.

"Believe me, a guy takes four bullets to the chest and is still standing, not just that but has enough in him to stay on his feet concerns me." Of course if Sebastain came back there was probally nothing to do. He made a few phone calls to get people looking for Helena and put of an arrest order for Sebastain as well as cautioning that he was quite dangerous but wouldn't leave until Bill arrived. He wrote down his phone number to call him and would get all the information from Bill on the hotel, hopefully things would be over tonight.

Bill was to stay with her, not in her room of course but an adjoining room, again not because he had thought anything of it, that he could be useful in a pinch in Seabastain showed up. There was the fact that Sebastain ran tonight so bullets where still an effective deterent it seemed and he rather have someone nearby with a gun.

All that seen too the hotel in question had an ironic name, the Sunrise. Checking in there was only one room with a vacancy across or adjacent from the booked room so they managed to get two rooms in the penthouse sweet of all things! The other rooms were poorly suited but it seemed the government was fitting the bill for this one as Bill made the proper arrangements and paid for the rooms after getting a receipt for it.

Lettie's senses remained on high alert until they were safely tucked away in the hotel. She was amazed at the room they managed to secure for her and the older officer. A testament, no doubt, to how serious the police were taking this case. It was a relief to know Sullivan was on the case. She hoped he'd be able to reach Helena before her brother did. She wouldn't be completely at ease until the police had him in custody.

Still, she felt must better now that she was well and truly hidden. She was afraid he brother would come back for her if she'd stayed at the apartment. She had no desire to find out what he would do to her now that he knew she had betrayed him. She put her stuff down in the first bedroom she came too once they entered the penthouse and collapsed across the foot of the bed. "I feel like I could sleep for a week." She called out to no one in particular. So, much had happened in so little time and even though she had gotten some sleep in that time she still felt exhausted.

She turned her head to regard the open door and considered getting up to close it but decided it was just too much effort. Besides, it was probably safer if she left it open. That way Bill could hear her no matter where he was in the huge penthouse apartment if she needed him. Not that she should... No one would look for her here. Besides, she was just going to close her eyes for a second. Then she get up and seriously start getting ready for bed... She closed her eyes and before she knew it she was asleep.
