“So it took me a great deal of time to make the same adjustments that you are going through. Also, it was quicker though. There was little time to feel the transition from human to vampire My Master was not patient. He is since dead, he has been dead for several centuries after all and I have learned the error of his ways so the speak. He was rather horrible too, but I did learn that it wasn't wise to attract too much attention least you wish to draw hunters to yourself. Wuth hum dead I was free of my Master's influence and given the habit of me not feeding on people but animals.”

Lettie listened with great sympathy as he spoke of his difficult change and his cruel creator. He referred to him only as Master and from the way he said it she was certain that was with a capital "M". She wondered idly whether that was by choice or by design. He had implied that the faster method of turning cost some free will. She suddenly felt a great sense of graduated that it was Rico who had sired her and not someone else. She was certain her brother would have chosen the faster route if he had had it his way. "My poor Rico..." She brushed her hand against his cheek and then quickly rose up to kiss his lips. "I am glad it was you who turned me."

He had not liked to think of his old Master much. Yes, he had been robbed of his free will back then more or less. He was no more than a slave than but became free willed when his Master was slain, when whatever God there was saw it fit to release him from his torment.

Rico considered the matter, then figured that it was best not to dwell on matters of the past. He could only grin at her words, grinned because they had probably been correct in her assignment. Her brother wasw likely to allow her free will only to a point, she would have become his slave more or less and she was a beautiful woman so she would have been little more than a sex slave to other vampires.

Yes, he would admit that he like the sex though it was more than just sex. He had watched her from afar for the better part of three years now and had come to learn all he could about her, he smiled at that though he looked at her and considered, a hand brushing lazily down her arm as he did so.

“Tomorrow night will be busy. I know where Helena is hiding out and no doubt, eventually your brother will come upon her too. Since she is the last I suspect that he will not be alone either. Sebastain will bring Moriarty with him, especially seeing that this is the last victim. Your brother might not have had all the blood thus far and won't be able to transcend quiet yet but I deduce Moriarty has ben drinking all the blood right along and will be able to. Helena will die if they have their way about it but Moriarty has nearly turned. He is stronger than you but still weaker than I. Leave him to me though we need not worry about that until tomorrow night. I would really like to stay here with you until an hour or so before dawn.”

She nodded as she listened to him talk about the plans for tomorrow. She would follow his lead and not try to take on Moriarty. She would defend Helena and do her best to keep her brother away from her. She hoped Rico was right about her being more powerful than Sebastian. She wasn't really feeling it right now but then, she had just lost a lot of blood.

She smiled when Rico expressed his wish to stay with her until dawn. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

He stayed with her, delighting in her company until near dawn where he had to depart before Bill discovered that she had not been alone. Detective Sullivan had attached Bill with her throughout the day too for her protection though Rico had anticipated something like this.

While he had not told her of Helena's location he expressed to her that it was best that the authorities did not intervine, they'd only get themselves killed or hurt in the process.

As morning set in though she could feel the colors, which seemed a little more vibrant now. The light had been a bit distracting and discomforting but Rico had told her where to go. No doubt Bill dilligently followed, and was surprised by Rico, who only had to stare into his eyes to mesmorize him and leave the shops with Lettie. He had a carriage already waiting for her and getting to the docks had been easy enough.

The smell of the sea was stronger to her now and as the sunk sank on the horizon she found that her vision was clearer, that the dark was no longer absolute.

“There,” Rico proclaimed as the carriage came to a stop. He escorted Lettie near a warehouse, gulls soaring about in the sky added to the lapping waves that crashed against the wooden struts holding up the wooden deck.

He approached a warehouse then gazed at her. “How are you feeling? Sebastain will be here soon, and Moriarty, they will need to come and when they do we will be here.”

He paused outside ot the large warehouse doors, then looked to the smaller service entrance that he looked towards. He glanced at her, waiting for her response as his hand fell to the door knob before twisting it open.

Lettie was a little overwhelmed by her enhanced senses though the night time wasn't so bad as the day had been. "I feel fine. though I have to attempt these new abilities are a little dizzying. Are you sure I'll be able to take on my brother now?"

“No doubt. You are already further along than he. Your stronger, faster, you might not feel any different at first but you are. Your reflexes will kick in. See he is trying to build up to what you have and needs all this blood to strengthen him and don't forget he is wounded too.” He glanced around looking for a bar, a gaff or something similar but did not find anything sutible so she could test her new found strngth out on so she would just have to take his word.

He slowly opened up the warehouse door and closed it behind her, Lettie could hear it soon after. The thumping of a heart. Strong and nearby. It was young with a steady strong beat and seemed to be calling to her. Fortunately Rico piked up on this and seized her by the wrist.

It was dark in that warehouse but her senses seemed to be heightened to the stage that the darkness was virtuall irrelevant as Rico manuevered her from the door, hiding in the dark but near enough to the door to watch it.

He then presened his neck to her. “Drink. You need not be distracted when your brother arrives with a yearning for Helena's blood. She will be the only living target here.” Then as if he were aware of her questions he supplied her with answers.

“It's like breathining, you can produce fangs just envision using them. Envision drinking. You should already possess a small pair of fangs, if not then you'll have to brake the skin with you teeth to draw the blood out. I do not have blood of my own but rather it is the blood from my last meal that we will be sharing.”

Lettie was startled by Rico's hand grabbing her wrist. She'd been so distracted by the sound of that heart pulsing that she had almost forgotten he was still there. She hadn't even realized she had moved but the hunger was awake in her now and she had to resist the urge to brake Rico's grip to go hunting through the warehouse for Helena. The veracity of that thought frightened her. She let Rico pulled her back into shadows and slightly dumbfounded when he offered her his neck. She recoiled slightly in alarm.

She was frightened by her own hunger and the intensity of it. But Rico continue speaking, calmly explain the importance that she feed from him and breaking down the process to her step by step. He was right, she needed to be in control of herself tonight and not distracted by this terrible new need in her. "Wasn't I your last meal?" She said, trying to sound coy, as she pressed her lips to his neck but she was afraid should hide the predatory blood lust bubbling up inside her.
