He left ther room the door still ajar as he called to Sig and for a moment she dreaded the thought that he might have been calling him forth though he was instructing him to go to the kitchens before the door opened back up.

“Come.” He commanded her to follow and she had realized that he was getting the other vampire out of sight before leading her through the place and eventually into a basement that lead into a dank dungeon. It was dark, chilly and musty smelling. He had to stop and light a torch since her vision wasn't as good as his as he lead the way.

“Sig wants you dead. Master is yet to know though about now I would imagine Daffney has already told him.” He stopped outside a door then unlocked it, pushing it open to reveal a simple room with a bound young man, at least she guessed he was young for his head was bowed and she could only make out his sandy brown hair. He was tied to a simple wooden chair and the torch lit splashed over him.

“Him,” Gustav said as the young man lifted his face at the sound. His eyes were black from a broken nose but he would have been fairly handsome had it not been for the brake. Recognition shone in his eyes though he was quick to bow his head again. It was clear that he knew who she was ...

"Why does Sigfried hate me so?" I asked.

As we entered the room I looked at the man and I didn't miss the flash of recognition on his face, although the features of whoever it was were a complete mystery to me!

He flickered his gaze back to her after a moment then nodded. “Yes, you are from the village.”

Perhaps he realized that Gustav saw the flash of insight and recognition in his eyes, perhaps he didn't consider it too revealing if he admitted to it. Gustav looked at the pair.

He sighed a little. “Really, it makes no sense to pretend now. Now that we know you two know one another we have options. We might not be able to read the girl though you, you can be dominated so holding back makes no sense, unless you enjoy more quality time with Sig for whatever reason.”

The man was silent as he analyzed the words. He then spoke further and she noticed that his lip had been split, probably an injury resulting from his capture, maybe Sig as Gustav revealed, who was to say for certain.

“Yes, I know you Anne. Kurt. Kurt Webner.”

Your memories should return within three days, two if your lucky but I doubt that will do us much good either. Sorry about the forest ...”

He looked away again, fell silent for a moment then sighed again as he looked back. “We needed to find the Master ...”

At least with the Master you know the vampires it creates are nearby but soon they'll realize that I was sent to kill them, they might just believe that you were a harmless dupe seeing that you really don't know what's going on though they might realize that you were consciously aware of this prior to taking the serum. The serum is a short term memory blocker. It stops the brain from accessing memories for a time and since you were being exposed it was your idea that if you knew nothing you could tell them nothing.”

He thought over the situation. “Going toe to toe with them doesn't work out so well. I don't think the one in the hall would be as bad to deal with than the larger one but I have no clue where the larger one is and could easily run into him while trying to get out of here.”

"So what exactly does that make me? Why would I agree to be bait or was I just some girl you happened to find at the side of the road? Was I out of my mind?"

I rolled my eyes at the insanity of what he was telling me. "Everything might crumble but you are aware that the master in this case is actually holding his underlings in check. Call it what you want but I would much rather have Sabin around rather than Gustav or Sigfried! ESPECIALLY Sigfried! Besides... The master you keep talking about, Sabin has his own master that he's trying to fight against."

I shivered, remembering that presence I had felt a couple of times and glowered at him. "And beyond him i'm pretty damn certain theres something else.. something that is watching all of us... I don't know what it is but I really want nothing to do with that!"
