Lettie's eyes follow the silver blade as it flew from Sebastian's hands. She dove after it while he was still howling in pain from where the fire licked his skin. She could probably take him out empty handed but the knife would speed things along. Once she had the knife she carefully backed away from the flames with it. Not urge to share her brother's experience. Again, it seemed wiser to lure him towards her. "Being sloppy again, brother. Your new found strength as made you careless. Rico would never have fallen for such a ploy."

Damn her and damn Rico too! His skin blistered and burned and had he been a full vampire he doubted that this would have hurt him otherwise. As it was the flames would not have been fatal on their own but they would hurt him.

Immensely. Or so it had seemed as he staggered back from the wall of flame that had crept to the ceiling at this stage and was licking against it with amber flames.

Sebastain was clutching his face, momentarily blinded though her words were insightful. Plus, he was hurt and not thinking clearly. If not for the flames he would have tackled things differently now but he was goaded on and came forth, his face as wrinkled as a raisin, burnt in places his left eye being a burnt out soclet which would regenerate in time, days and not seconds and minutes. Most of his hair was gone, lips and nose twisted as if they were made of wax that had been melted down to this point.

He sprang at her with a passion, flames still licking at portions of her body ...

This time Lettie didn't dodge. She just waited with the knife pointed out in front of her, level with where her brother's heart should be. When he barreled into her he would effectively impale himself on the blade and they would both discover how effective silver was on a half-turned vampire together.

He came at her, cocking his hand back to strike though he let out a hiss as the knife plunged into his chest, more like a fierce wail of agony as smoke sizzled up from the wound. The purity of silver mixed with the poisonous effect's of the dead man's blood hit him hard, as great as it would a true vampire. His arm dropped, his eyes wide.

“Let … tie ...”

He staggered back, the wound still steaming. Staggering back he narrowly averted a collapsing burning beam though not by design and pure luck. He dropped to his knees, then slumped forward, his flesh starting to corrode from his very body.

She could not see Rico, Moriarity of Helena. She only saw the wall of flame that cut off the room, the flame dancing across the ceiling now, burning away pillars and support beams with each passing second. There was even a hole up there where the beams had fallen near her brother open to the heavens billowing out smoke to the dark sky.

It was unnerving watching her brother die, even though she still had no good memories of the man. She swallowed and backed away from his remains. That was it. Her last tie to her humanity was gone. It made her shiver.

The crackling of burning beams over head woke her from her revery and she looked up to see a billow of smoke escaping through a whole in the roof. This was not good. "Rico!? Where are you? We have to find Helena and get out of here. The fire is going to attract too much attention!!"

No response over the crackle of flame and while there was a door at that side of the room she could only hope that Rico had used it. Judging by the slowness of her brother and the fact that Moriarity wasn't a full fledged vampire as far as she knew then Rico shouldn't have any problems.

Either it was retreating through the door behind her or braving the flames and pressing through to the other side but that was foolish – she saw what happened to her brother and wasn't sure how fast he would recover. He would have recovered right? He was able to survive multiple gun shot wounds and heal up, so had he survived no doubt he would have recovered, right?

Another pillar of falling flame convinced her that it was unsafe here and it was pressing her luck to stay.

She could hear water over the roar of flames, her hearing that enhanced. “Lettie, leave the building.”

Rico's voice, crystal clear although it was distant, much to distant for her to have normally heard.

Lettie looked around frantically for the source of the voice, for the exit. Hoping they were both in the same direction. She couldn't locate Rico with her eyes but she was able to find the exit and dashed for it with her newly gained speed. "Please be out already, Rico." She whispered as she made her escape.

Once outside and safely away from the violence of the fire behind her, she began to scan the area for Rico and Helena. "Rico, where are you!?"

Sadly the two were in opposite directions. The voice came from beyond the wall of fire near the door she thought. As she made her way outside she could see a carriage racing in this direction, the police? Already? They must have been locking for Helena or had been in the area and raced towards the fire …

“Lettie, quick.”

Rico's voice in answer to her whispered words. The voice distant and beyond the burning building near a dock that ran adjacent to the building. Looking that way she could see that the dock ran behind the building as well and hopefully burning building.

Following the sound as she was well out on the docks before the carriage stopped in front of the building and Bill and Sean were scrambling out of it.

“Lettie!” Sean Sullivan called as he raced forward though just behind the building she could see that there was a body of a female and a boot with a man inside it. It was a row boat and due to her enhanced vision she could see that the man was Rico, the body on the docks was breathing and was of Helena ...

Lettie hesitated for an instant when she heard Sean's voice calling out for her. She had hoped to get away from the building before the police showed up so she could disappear with Rico and leave her old life behind her. Unfortunately, Sean had seen her now. He knew she been at the scene of the fire and lived through it. If she left now she would look like a criminal. Of course, it wouldn't matter though would it? If she and Rico disappeared somewhere far away and never came back.

But then she felt a twinge of guilt. Sean had been so kind to her, so understanding. She owed him more than that, didn't she? Besides, London was her home. She didn't want to completely abandon it... What to do, what to do? She would have to play it carefully. She surely had some of her brother's blood on her still and Rico was wanted in connection to the dead police officer whose place he'd taken at the ball. She continued running towards the dock, yelling as though she hadn't heard Sean. "Helena!!!" She crouched next to the unconscious woman lying on the dock and pretended to check her for injuries while she waited for Sean to catch up to her. "Stay hidden until I've shaken them off, Rico." She whisper to the man waiting for her in the row boat. Hoping she could distract them with Helena and disappear once they went to take her to the hospital.

She rushed down the docks ad of Sean, conflicted of course. Sean and Bll disembarked rom the carriage heading in her direction though she was well ahead of themand warned Rico off who nodded at her a began to row away as she used the distraction of Helenaa on the dcks to her bet advantage.

She was cut a littlethough bvarely and to er untrained eye it looked as if she had been rendered uncnscious by a bluneoning force. She was alive of course and that was the important thing here as Bll and Sean got close they quickly checd her though they had little choce and hadto move her off the docks away from the burning buiing.

They got her tmove back to, draping Helena a sot distance away, Bill doing his bt to treat her as Sean turnehis attention to Lettie.

“What appened here?” He asked fter a quick glance had beemade to the buning building hen back a her.

He wasn't asking about the fire, not really. It should have been fairly obvious what had happened when he saw Helena Harper lying unconscious on the dock but Lettie answered the spoken question first before tackling the unasked ones. "My brother happened. The maniac found out where Helena was hiding and tried to kill her like the others." Lettie paused, knowing what Sean would ask next if she didn't explain how she'd found this all out. "I went back to my apartment today... I had it in my head that if I just went back there for a moment I'd be able to find an answer to unlocking my memories. What I ended up finding was a message that had clearly been intended for my brother..." She looked up at Sean apologetically. "I know I should have told you but it was already so late. I was afraid if I wasted one moment Helena would be done for..."

Did he believe her? Clearly if she were anyone else he may have been suspicious of her but he seemed to ignore any bout of suspicion in the light of the matter. He was attracted to her after all and that sort of clouded his judgement a little. Besides he was relieved that she was all right and even if Bill was with him he probably would have overlooked a few things. What happened to Helena? Who set the fire? Where was Sebastain now? But Bill was busy tending to Helena and she could only hope that she did not come too and blantantly contradict her story.

Sean sighed. “Lettie, that was wreckless … you should have told someone at least did you think you could convince Sebastain from his course of action after he seemed so admant at the house earlier?”

But these where rhetorical questions she thought as he cupped her hands in his, obvious tension in them as he gazed into her eyes. “You could have been hurt or killed ...” Then it happened, she didn't know if he planned it or not but Bill was busy watching over Helena to even notice and that worry manifested itself as Sean leaned towards her, it obvious that his intension was her lips and capturing them with his own ...

Lettie was too startled by Sean's sudden action to avoid the kiss. She flushed under the expected pressure of the man's lips and had just enough presence of mind to hope that Rico couldn't see them from where he was hiding. With that thought came a sudden way of guilt and she pressed a hand against Sean's chest to ease him away. She appreciated his concern but his kiss was only serving to confuse her. She's promised herself to Rico... She couldn't tell Sean thought though. She would have to use a different excuse for pushing him away. "I'm sorry... I-I didn't mean to worry you, Sean." She realized how intimate calling him by his first name sounded. She usually called him Detective Sullivan but now that he'd kissed her. "I was thinking of Helena and I... didn't think anyone would..."

Miss her?

The words got caught in her throat as the sudden truth of them struck her. She was supposed to be alone in the world. That was part of the reason she'd cling to the love that Rico had offered her. Because she had no one else. Not that she didn't love Rico, she did, but would she have let things escalate with him so quickly if she'd known there was someone from her mortal life who'd actually miss her when she was gone? Had Sean confessed his feeling for her before last night would she have allowed Rico to turn her? Why was she suddenly having these regret now. She loved Rico. She'd chosen Rico. She couldn't start having reservations about that now, damnit! "We should go back to the others." She stood suddenly, hoping to change the subject, to get away from these strange doubts she was having suddenly.

Doubt had flooded over her senses as his lips still tingled againt her own like a pleasant warmth though she had managed to push him away with an offered excuse. He did not seem to question it, nor did he seem to be concerned any by her actions not knowing what thoughts passed through her mind at the moment.

She could hear the steady pulse of his heart beat knowing that he was excited, concerned or aroused or both? She could not say for her gifts were not that great only receiving them recently too.

There was a certain hunger in his eyes though, relief that she was alright, that was there too of course. His breathing was eradict, he was nervous perhaps, concerned even. Still he exhibited signes of arousal too. He nodded at her words.

“Of course,” he coaxed her back, touching her shoulder and shifting her towards the direction of the others with a final look at the blazing warehouse.

“Still, I would like to avoid trouble and think it's best if I have you put up in a hotel again ….”

Lettie began to object but hesitated. Should she tell him that her brother was dead, that she'd killed him. It had been self defense after all but he'd met Sebastian. He had witnessed his impossible strength. He had seen her brother walk away from being shot repeatedly in the chest. How would she explain how she killed the man when three bullets had not. She couldn't very well tell him she was half vampire! She sighed, "If you think that is best. I honestly do not believe my brother escaped the flames." She added, knowing it would do little to change his mind.

She would just have to wait until her guard fell asleep. If it was Bill again then it would be easy to slip out. He could clearly sleep through anything. She'd find Rico and they would disappear together for a while. She felt bad about Sean but it was for the best. She was a half breed now. Without Rico's help she would surely surcome to the hunger and hurt him even more. Besides, staying would only muddle her feelings more. No, leaving was the best option. Maybe she'd leave a note for Sean, apologizing and telling him not to look for her.

She waited quietly for Sean to finish at the crime scene and arrange for someone to take her back to the hotel. She had time to wonder while she waited what had become of Moriarty. She had not been able to see the fight between him and Rico. She wondered if he was dead now to. He was supposedly a clever man. Maybe he had the good sense to run away. She did not expect he'd be giving her anymore trouble. Surely, if he was alive he'd go after Helena again and she'd be safely under watch by the police at the hospital. Still, she'd ask Rico about it later. Whenever that was. She hoped who ever was put in charge of guarding her tonight would go to bed quickly once they were installed back at the hotel.
