Post Re: Unusual (for Kristy Barker)
Kirsty was struck dumb momentarily by the stunning smile the handsome young man who answered the door shot at her so she had no time to react to his usual proclamation before he slammed the door in her face. "Well, that's was... strange." Curiosity got the better of her and she knocked again. When the same young man answered the door again she asked bluntly and without preamble. "Not the father of who?"

Then she remembered why she was there. "Oh, I'm sorry... That's not really why I'm here. I'm looking for a man named Harold, who is a father from my understanding." Surely this man was too young to be Harold. She was beginning to think maybe she'd come to the wrong place. "I was told he might know a safe way through the old city? I need to travel that way to catch up with my fiance." She said pointedly, hoping to put the young man at ease. His earlier reaction to her clearly indicated that she was having some trouble with the ladies. Perhaps if she made it clear she was "off the market" he wouldn't be so hostile towards her. Though, she did seem to forget her lie about Kevin being her husband rather than her fiance. A tiny slip up... Not Freudian at all...

“Willis, Trevor, Anders, Clarence and whoever else those women are trying to pim there kids on me.” He studied her for a moment when she said it had not mattered. Her attire indicated that she was not from around here and he would have recalled seeing her around. Surely if she dwelled here then she would probably be trying to pin another kid on him.

He had one. One son from his late wife that had ben taken from him two years back now. For the first year he grieved, the second wll …

“I'm Harold. Fiance eh, damn … yeah I can guide you through the old city but it's not safe, at least not fully. Pit falls, deadly gases Mezz … they're all damgerous if you don't know how to deal with them. I can get you through most of the annoying stuff but is your man going to be alright with you crawling through a dark cramped cave with someone other than he?”

Kirsty raised a brow at the man. "Does my fiance have a reason to be concerned for me. I should think I' d be quite safe with a man whose not interested in fathering anymore children." She replied pointedly. Kirsty didn't believe in being obtuse. "Besides, from what I hear I'll be far safer with you than trying to navigate my way through the old city on my own. I need to got to the next town as quickly as possible. My fiance is a powerful wizard, which makes him a bit of a trouble magnet. He needs me with him to keep him from getting himself locked up or worse."

“Of course not,” there was something in his eyes that told her he was like a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar when he was told no snacks until after dinner but he recovered quickly enough though he did look her over once more to appraise her she thought, looking appreciatively on her but that was all she hoped.

He nodded. “You mean your fiance is that wizard? The one who just came through here? Shucks, I don't know why he'd be leaving you behind anywhere but I guess I'll never understand wizards. Yeah, wandering about the oldcity is dangerous and will only help you shave off time if you really know it anyway.

“There is one passage that was dug out by the village you speak of, a section of the under city was once used by them to harvest criminals before they escaped, their system did isolate them from other cavees like ours and when they caught back up with them three families were already murdered,” he shook his head. “So they stopped using it as a prison so to speak. Their first experiment with it failed so fortunately the under city isn't full of convicts but since you're hunting down this man ...” he grinned, something finally clicking or making some sense to him.

“He said he wasn't the father and skipped out, right? Well, let me get my neighbor Chad to watch my boy and I'm all yours.”

Kirsty blinked bemusedly at Harold's bizarre logic jump and quickly looked down to make sure she wasn't sporting a baby bump. ((*twitches* Can't. Believe. I. Actually. Wrote. "Baby Bump".)) It had been known to happen in dreams but those were usually more like very confusing nightmares. Nope, she wasn't pregnant. That was a relief. Harold was already heading over to Chad's house next door so she really didn't have time to correct his misconception. Why on Earth would he assume Kevin had left her to skip out on his parental responsibilities?

She frowned, wondering if she wasn't making a mistake traveling with this man. He was either completely jaded or a little nuts. Maybe both. Maybe they women who'd been coming to calling, claiming him as the father or their children, had had some reason to do so. She had assumed it was because he was handsome and single but it could just as easily be because he was actually sleeping with all of them. Her frown deepened. Was she about to head off to some deserted underground city with a known rakehell? She was still considering this when Harold returned from talking with his neighbor.

Harold returned though Chad was close behind him as he came back up to her. Chad looking hard at the women, his eyes wideningas he approached. He had no pockets and at first Kristy probably though Harold was roping another woman in if not for her strange attire.

“It's all been arranged, Chad's going to look after my boy.”

The cobbler soon approached. Staring at her at first. “He captured your image on a miniature potrait, I did not think I;d see you in the flesh though.”

She gave Chad a blank look for a moment before the sudden realization of what he was talking about suddenly struck her. "You met Kevin!?" And he'd shown off her picture. She felt suddenly elated by the news though she wasn't sure why. Maybe Harold's assumption that her fiance had abandon her had strung a nerve in her. She smiled appreciatively at the cobbler. "That's who I'm off to find. Thank you so much for agreeing to watch over Harold's son for him. I really don't know what I would have done without the both of you." She included Harold in there because it seemed appropriate but she was still not all together certain about him. Still, it was a journey she couldn't make without him and she'd be grateful for his presence should the Tommy Knockers make an appearance.

She turned to Harold and asked, "Are we ready to go then? Do you need to grab anything from your house first?"

“I spoke to him shortly before his escape I was at first blamed for it until it was pointed out that it was nigh impossible to detain a wizard once they wished to go. I remember he had these small rectangular shaped images of you that he was showing off before he siappeared. Har, leave her alone,” The older man said to the younger before Harold had to dash into the house to get a bacg, a pack that she could only assume he tended to keep packed with the seccesary.

He was ready then leading her though the village to an old well. He opened it then peered into the darkness for a nonent before secrring a line and tossing it into the darknsse, He soon decendedm=, then called for here to do the same as two tiny pin pricks of light turned on indicating how far dowb he really was. He waited for her to descent grasping her tightly as she slid down the rope to him.

He latched on a moment lonrer tnan was absoletely necessary though he hadn;t tried anything else thus far fortunately.

Kirsty had another moment of hesitation as she stood at the mouth of the well looking down into its dark depths. This was it, point of no return. If she went down this well she was stuck with the consequences. Be that aliens or the advises of a notorious womanizer. Chad's commit earlier had not gone unnoticed. She felt certain now that Harold was trouble. Still, it was just a dream. If things got to scary she could just change it or at worst she could wake herself up. She would try not wake up though. It was a matter of pride for a lucid dreamer. If she woke up then the nightmare won.

If the Tommyknockers showed up she would stand her ground and fight. Use her powers to make the dream go in the direction she wanted. And if Harold started misbehaving... Well, maybe she'd let that play out. It was just a dream after all. It was a perfectly safe environment to sate her virgin curiosity. She smiled slightly at the thought. Harold was young and handsome and even if he was a bit of a cad... It might turn out to be a very interesting dream after all. With that thought in mind she begin her descent into the well.

Post Re: Unusual (for Kristy Barker)
Aegir was entertained by her thoughts, her concerns melted away fast enough as she considered her options here and what she could do as a series of counter measures. He pondered of course he thoughts on Harold, wondering how he should play out that scenario. She was expecting or at least believed there could be something possible there and Aegir did have a bit of an outline when it came to things but he was fluid and adaptable to certain situations like this.

He considered matters though as to what he wished to do here. Was this going to be a dark nightmare like dream or a pleasant one? He of course would let time tell and had let her dictate some of the dream after all as he was interested in her powers.

He also found her fear of the Roswell grays interesting and while he had used them as a back drop to things he considered his options there in having them take a more active roll of course. That was something to consider for later as Harold dug out a lantern from his pack and lit it illuminating the room better just as a tremor ripped through the ground.

It was brief, less then a minute but the stone that their rope had been anchored to on the well came loose dropping the rope into the well.

“Shit!” Harold cursed as he gazed up the narrow shaft of light. He knew he could yell until he was hoarse in the throat and no one was likely to hear him. It looked as if he had no choice now but to find an alternate way out of here.

He bent down coiling up the rope and placing it into his pack before glancing at her.

“Fate it seems wants to cast us together for some reason. Well, I;m not going to get out that way now so I have no choice but to go with you, not that I'm really upset about that or what the friggin Tonny Knockers did!” He chuckled, shaking his head. Obviously he did not believe in them, he was frequently down here after all.

Kirsty gave the man another one of her patented looks. "That's funny. I thought your guiding through the city was always a part of the plan." She said scaldingly. Had he planned to abandon her down here? She was starting to have second thoughts about this man. Maybe he wasn't really all that attractive after all. Maybe he was just an asshole.

He mentioned the Tommy knockers again and she frowned uneasily and looked around. "What do you mean? What did these Tommy Knockers supposedly do?" The room they were in was still quite dark, even by the light of Harold's lantern. Still, she tried to drink in as much detail of she could. Looking for any signs of life or movement. Praying she would find none.

“It is, though the idea was to bring you there then come back. It's a bit quicker coming back through the under city though I can't use it now and will have to cut through the forest the long way Oh well, I guess I need the exercise anyway,” he chuckled a little making light of the situation.

He looked at her with the flickering lantern light. God, she was attractive, is attractive! E considered some rather lewd thoughts for the moment though. Shoving her up against a cave wall, thrusting into her from behind, but there was also the fact that he had to consider her fiance turning him into a pig or some other animal too so for the time being he behaved himself. Of course, he doubted that it would take much to set him off and get those thoughts to return, especially if she made a move against him so he had pondered the risks against the rewards mentally laughing at himself as he though of Kevin turning him into a bird so he could just fly out of here.

“Oh, the locals have a superstition. Se they crashed here long ago and some say the earth quakes are their fault as they try to didlodge their ship.

“The Mezzo are creatures from the ship, animals from their craft I'm guessing. Most are harmless. Some are not like THAT ONE!”

He pointed into the shadows to get her to look, then laughed a little as there was nothing there. “Relax. The Tommy Knockers aren't real and none of the Mezzo are dangerous.”

Kirsty jumped and whirled around to look in the direction he'd indicated but there was nothing there. She should have taken that as strange. Her dream tend to react to her expectations. She'd expected something to be there thus there should have been something there. She was too annoyed with Harold to notice failed dream mechanics though. She glared at the man. "That wasn't funny. Come on, lets hurry up and start moving. I don't want to be down here any longer than absolutely necessary."

“I don't know, I thought it was pretty funny. You jumped a good foot there! Alright let's get moving.”

The passage ways were ramped and darkbut he steadily ade his way along, not even flustered by the small earth quakes they experienced. There were three, each about half a minute in duration. Each time there was one he looked towards her as if studying signs of the local superstitions that were part of the village. He said little of course save for point out a few little facts about the old city how after a great many years when he eart covered it over it was resettled. He even told her about a copper mine though it was mostly dried up at this stage.

“You're very attractive,” he said as if commenting on the weather when they came to a fork. “This way, the old ship isn't far and there is an exit near there that had been excavated long ago to get at the old ship and explore though it was discovered long ago that those that went to the ship got sick and soon died horrible deaths. Little is know about it but there are actually two vessels, one smaller and not as dangerous. I think it is a life boat of some sort though not entirey certain.”

Kirsty stopped suddenly when he mentioned that they were approaching the ship now. His casual compliment barely registered, she was so nervous. The earthquakes and the attached knowledge of the superstition about them didn't help either. "Is there no other way out but going passed the ship?" She asked hopefully. "Even if the Tommy knockers are long dead the wreck might still be dangerous. You said the villagers who found it got sick and died. Maybe its radioactive..." She clung to any excuse to find a different path around the wreck. She didn't trust herself not to summon forth the alien by pure fear of them."
