Apparently, she did not do enough to get this monster off her trail. Another annoying line sounds from just beyond the shower curtain before he pulled it aside, revealing his presence. Gersham would find that black miasma was not the only magic flaring in this small confined area as flames were already licking Kanoe's hands. "I said, leave me alone!" The witch cried out, throwing her hands infront of her and sending forth as much fire as she could towards the sneering monster. This time, she was not going to stop until she was too exhausted to keep her arms up. Even if the monster survives, she wanted this thing to feel her anger.

Flames? The demon seemed vulnerable to flames of all things! He snarled as he dream his hand back to ward off some of those flames with the wispy cold of the miasma but the flames bent both up and down burning other areas of his body as he staggered back.

Flames danced off of his body, one hitting a hair dryer and melting it, another hit the towel that was hangind up and setting it ablaze as other sparks of flame had been direct at other flameable objects as the demon was driven back, flame incinerating the howling creature on portions of his chest and arms as well as his legs.

Trying to shield himself against the flames did little good as he turned towards the door and ran … the flames far more effective against it as if her magic was unhindered for once.

The bathroom erupted into flame from what Gersham deflected. A portion of the shower curtain was burning though not all that well given the dampness that coated it. Other mattters were not so lucky like the towels and linen closet.

Gersham had been made to retreat but at what cost? The flames had been all about the room in various stages of life. Smoke alarms would have been going off if there had been any in the room but as the smoke drifted further no doubt it would trigger something.

The demon seemed to be in too much pain to toss up a quick counter and had elected to leave her alone, at least for now though the price had been steep indeed ...

The monster retreated but now she had to deal with the fire she created. Yanking the burning towel, she brought it into the still running shower. She would let the water do its work in dousing the burning fabric then soaking it to use for the rest of the flames. Being a bathroom, there really were not that many flammable things in here. The shower curtains were not made of a fabric so they were not necessarily burning and the shower could easily douse what part of it that was melting. From there, she used the soaked towel to fight the fire and douse it as quickly as possible. Really, the only place that could catch flame were perhaps the walls which she could smother with the towel and use the shower to resoak the fabric if necessary.

With how quick everything happened, hopefully the alarms do not go off. But if they did, it would only ensure that everyone goes outside including herself, further deterring the monster from attacking again. In any case, it would not be the first time she destroyed her room to fight off a monster.

The linen closet and the walls were perhaps the only things she had to worry about. There were small fires too seeing how things had only been burning for a few seconds and had not had the time to fully ignite. The smoke in here was faint right now and had to flow out of here, through the adjoining room to trip any smoke detectors and had not built up as severly just yet.

Kanoe was on top of dosing the flames and it did not take her long to extinguish them. The naked witch managed to dose the flames though she would need to get a new blow dryer, the plastic casing had melted though if she tried it the thing still worked, the damage being cosmetic.

Through quick action the smoke detectors did not go off. It wasn't likely that the charred demon was going to return soon unless he was pissed off from that latest attack which ensured that he would lash out at her through surprise in that case if the flames were that determental to it. So, she still had the choice to make as to whether to stay here or go to class for it did not seem the demon would be back unless for revenge ...

Waving her hand to try and dispel the smoke, Kanoe sighed. It would be nice to be left alone for once. She stepped into the shower again to wash the smoke from her hair and so forth before grabbing a fresh towel to dry herself off with. The dark witch finished cleaning up before changing back into her school uniform. The choice was a false one as it did nothing to change whatever demon may or may not be planning. If the demon wanted to get revenge, it will do so no matter the location.

After braiding her hair and placing the silver clasp on it, the witch was ready to move on with her day. She was certain her roommate would have questions about the minor destruction but, that will have to be dealt with then and not now. Tight fitting uniform on, Kanoe headed out of the dorms and towards her next class. Little did she know that she was still standing there before the demon in the gym locker room. She breathed slow and deep as if she were sleeping as her blank eyes stared off into space.

Gersham was toying with the witch, giving her false victories that had meant nothing … in the end he would dash those matters aside as he grinned at the thought. The witch seemed to be an experience one so he doubt he could dash all her hopes at once, that she would recover from this but he hardly cared if she shrugged it off or was buried beneath the weight of the matter.

In her mind Kanoe dressed and made her way to her next course. He had pondered his options here and while it was tempting to go in for the kill he had thought of something briefly …

“Kanoe, can you bring her up to speed?”

The professor asked after signing the transfer script for the new student, a blond …

She was one of the older students in the chemistry class and with an upcoming lab the professor wanted to bring the new student up to speed as quickly as possible and selected one of his better students for the task.

The witch arrived in chemistry class as if nothing had gone wrong today. She still had left a uniform back in the gym locker room. But, there was no way she was going back there today. It was fine though, uniforms were lost and destroyed often on this island. Kanoe made her way to her seat only to be called on when class started. Her eyes narrowed in slight annoyance at being asked to help some new student. But she already knew that being asked may as well be an order here on Shokushu.

"Fine," she replied coldly, waiting for the new student to sit next to her so she could open a text book and get started. This was going to be troublesome, why does this school accept late entries like this? Kanoe began with what had been gone over at the beginning of the semester. That included most of the basic terminology along with the table of elements. She kept her voice low so as not to disrupt the rest of the class, not that she cared much for the other students. Once she finished going over all she considered useful she would ask the woman if she understood it all.

“Most of it,” Rhaine professed that she always got a few of the elements mixed up but that had been no fault of Kanoe's in her explicanation. She just always claimed to have a deficit there. “It's no excuse though. I've tried different techniques to learn them and should have it down by now but I still couln't tell you the tenth element, how many neutrons and electrons it has though I guess there isn't many people that could.

“But thanks, I know how annoying it can be to fill in the newbie. I use to do it all the time at my old school. I use to get decent enough grades for the most part, don't know why the professors always signaled me out though ...”

Rhaine was keeping her voice low, an apologetic look to her eyes. “So I take it you're pretty good at this stuff?”

Not many people do memorize the table of elements. For most career paths, it was almost entirely useless information. Despite that though, the class essentially treats everyone as chemistry majors and expects them to know the same information even if students are just taking the class for a lab credit. Kanoe did not care either way. She did not even bother asking the student her name as she continued to provide information. Rhaine claimed to have learned most of it which should be enough to follow along or pretend to.

"I am passing," Kanoe replied simply, not claiming she was skilled in chemistry or not. Some rituals required mixing but chemistry generally used materials not used in magic. But it does allow for some substitutes from time to time. Once finished informing Rhaine, the witch would return her attention to the lecture and pass the time till class ended. That is assuming this new student did not continue asking questions.

“You're having no problems? Outside of having to look up the elements all the time for the right references I'm fairly handy with most things. I'm better at math theorims though. Love them, I don't know why but I just do. Figuring something out is always appealing.” She considered. “Well, not always but there are certain things that best left alone …”

She paused as if she were going to shut up and a few seconds past. “Hi, I'm Rhaine by the way. You?”

If Kanoe was having problems, she was certainly not revealing them. The girl introduced herself and continued to strike up conversation with the dark witch. She had no clue what the woman was talking about leaving alone in the context of math theorems. Sighing softly, she may as well give her name. "Kanoe," the witch answered. She did hope this woman was not going to talk through the entire class. The instructor did not seem to care, probably thought she was still helping the girl get caught up. The other students may get annoyed of the constant chatter though.

“Kanoe,” Rhaine spoke slowly enunciating each syllable as she played tith the name on her tongue. She beamed, a smile stealing over her features.

She observed the older girl for the moment and considered that the older girl must have taken this class seriously so she was silent for the most part and kept her questions down to low whispers concerning the subject matter of the course.

She seemed to pick up on things fairly quickly once she was clear about something. Feverishly she took notes to the point where she was jotting down questions to herself that seemed to make perfect sense but they were questions she'd look up later when she had the time to do so.

When class had ended Rhaine turned to Kanoe again.

“Thanks for everything. Could I make it up to you with lunch? Well it would be an earlier luck I guess if you're free now.” She colored after a moment.

“I didn't mean it like that … I wasn't hitting on you or anything like it … I mean, your beautiful and all, I didn't want to imply that you weren't! Gosh no! I just meant to eat not … oh boy! I'll just shut up now.”

Rhaine managed to pronounce her name correctly then got the hint that she was perhaps not interested in conversation or at least not right now. The rest of the class went relatively quiet with the exception of the professor lecturing on today's topic. The witch did not take much in the form of notes, just a few things here and there as she only paid half attention to what was being said.

When class was over, Rhaine offered lunch for the help. This seemed out of nowhere for the dark witch as she only did this as per the professor's instructions. The woman apparently was getting flustered trying to find the right words to say to Kanoe. There was no point in worrying much about it, there were rarely any right words to say to the cold witch. But after having to deal with that demon's attacks twice, perhaps some company would do some good. It was just lunch afterall.

"You do not owe me anything," Kanoe replied, "The instructor asked me to do it afterall. But if you wish to take me to lunch, I suppose you can. Where are we going?" The witch crossed her arms infront of her as she waited for Rhaine to lead the way assuming she knew where she was going.

Rhaine floundered with her words a little and had been blushing in embarrassment at tripping over words.

“I know how much trouble these little annoyances are, trust me I haven't been on the receiving end of most of them ...” She sighed and shook her head. “It's appreciated, it really is.” Rhaine considered for the moment, she wasn't thinking of anything outstanding as the way of lunch.

“I was thinking of the cafeteria, nothing fancy ...” She lead the way onward. She was new but not new enough to know her way around. She lead the way, apparently only new to the class but new enough were switching courses was still a viable option.

Baring any objections Rhaine lead the way through the campus to the student cafeteria. It was still a little early but not so much so that getting an early lunch was out of the question. There were few people here in addition to the cafeteria workers, the noon rush was still an hour away so they had their pick of seats and food.

The cafeteria was hardly what Kanoe expected for being taken out to lunch. But, company is company she supposed. The dark witch followed the other student to the cafeteria. It was mostly empty so at least it would be quiet for a bit while they get their food and eat. She ordered her food which was mostly just a salad and a bagel. The witch filled a glass with water before finding a small booth to sit in.

The witch would wait for Rhaine to finish getting her food and sitting down before beginning to eat. As always, Kanoe was rather quiet as she ate and sipped her water. With what she had been through, normal conversation seemed pointless to her. There were far more important and dangerous things out there to be concerned about. Things were still quiet since the incident in the locker room and her dorm room. But, she could not help but think that it was not the last she saw of that particular monster. The creatures on this island tend to be very persistent in getting what they want.
