When they pressed on during the morning they had gotten a few hours away before they encountered a loan traveler with a tattered gray cloak over his features and a sword at his side. His horse looked as if he had been pressing it throughout the night and he looked ragged as he looked at the pair pulling up on his reins.

“Whoa! You do not wish to continue down this road.”

As the three came up to the traveler, Hel felt something was off. She dismounted her horse, grabbing her shortbow before stepping a little closer to the man.

"What exactly do you mean by that?" The girl's eyes glared harshly at the traveler; there was a sort of familiar feeling when she was around him. It was a great uneasy feeling, one that echoed throughout her body.

Then she saw the man's face. It was the same thug that forced her to give him oral to buy time to pay the debt.

Hel recognized it before the others, that spark of recognition. Years of using magic had told her the subtle differences in some illusions and while Rafe and Rebecca had seen a haggard face she was able to perceiv4e … perhaps it was more the voice that gave it away, she could not say with 100% certainty after all.

She had recognized it though from the sparse woods came members of Eclipse and even some of the stones transformed revealing members of Eclipse that had been hidden by the man's illusions.

“Going somewhere?”

Expecting trouble and out numbered Rebecca's hand fell to her katana. She took a casual step to the edge of the road indicating that the men that were stones a moment ago were going to be handled by her if Rafe could deal with the opposite side and get to some of the men in the woods before she could lend her assistance.

She was good but could not be everywhere at once and realized that if their were spellcraft at play here then her sister was better at handling that sort of thing.

Hel backed away to join the rest of her party as they were surrounded by Eclipse. She looked up at the hooded wizard gritting her teeth with every syllable, "That's none of your damn business."

She muttered a quick spell under her breath and a small amount of the thugs were frozen. She began kicking the men encased in ice, shattering some and breaking off parts of others.

"Rafe! Help us!"

Rebecca drew her katana as she boldly stepped forward. She slashed her and there, her body twisting out of the way of the incoming attacks with ease showing how agile she was.

Eclipse members fell away at leas at first before more skilled opponents drew near engaging her and while no cut of the sane caliber as she they proved to be tougher and took a little longer to dispatch.

The wizard grinned. "I suppose it isn't in a way," he was not owed the money directly after all but since he would gain by her failure he made a gesture and the other men attacked drawing their weapons of loosing arrows.

Some men were frozen, others fell to the blade. Many of them were thugs that were hired for this just working for Eclipse but not true members themselves. Even the former bandit Rafe was getting into it shielding Hel from attack.

The wizard was likewise screened as he dispeled some of Hel's effects reverting some of the neb back as a large individual approached Rebecca, one that was fairly competent at the tetsubo (spiked club).

Others engaged Rafe while arrows flew towards Hel in an attempt to take her out.

The bandits had begun to overwhelm Hel. The sheer size of some of them made it hard to take the men down, even more so with her spells being neutralized. This couldn't hold out much longer, the apprentice's energy was already lowered with the large bout of magic she used and her arrows were depleting quickly.

She saw a hulking man with the club closing in on Rebecca. Aiming her crossbow, the last arrow shot through the hand wielding the club. An enemy arrow pierced Hel's arm, making the girl drop her weapon when she reeled in pain.

Cutting and whirling Rebecca seemed to be a dervish as she brought steel against the men she faced. Her opponents were steadily getting better though they weren't really overwhelming her too much, not until three of four of them backed up and she had to face so many a once.

Then came the man with the tetsubo. He needed a bit more space in which to wield his weapon, the others having to clear space so that he could use the weapon to full effect.

He was good, she had barely been able to turn aside hose attacks. Each one driving her back until an arrow through his hand has him roaring out in pain. She immediately presses the advantage wasting no time here at all, quickly dispatching him. Four others set upon her once this is done but she has a much easier time of it stepping up to immediately thin out the odds as she cuts one down.

With Caius undoing some of her spells Hel was still effective but less so. Rafe, with few offensive spells drew upon them now as pillars of Divine flames shot down from the he heavens incinerating some of the closet men though he hears a grunt of pain from behind her as he slices into one of the hired thugs.

Looking quickly he sees all the blood and the arrow. With barely any time to spear he snaps that arrow pushing it from the wound as he chants a quick healing spell unable to do as he fully desired.

After this battle, if they were still alive he would see to the wound afterward. “Hel, wall of ice on the left flank, now!”

He had no idea even if she new such a spell but cutting off the flank for the time being made it so they only had to concentrate on the right flank where Rebecca was holding out pretty well and ahead of them were Caius was with a bodyguard should anyone brake the ranks of the enemy thugs that approached from there. They at least had a shot he felt though he was uncertain a chance was better than what hey had now it seemed.
